Episode(102) A Grave Situation, Divine Power?
SOVEREIGN OF DEATH~(102)
[Your kiddi–]
Before she could even finish those words Camilla instinctively raised the sword.
Clang!
Above her, the monster was already pressing down its scythe hand as if it wasn't standing several ft. away just now.
No, how?!
Camilla was confused and utterly terrified. If not for her instincts just now she would have died several times over.
As the scythe and blade, one pressing down and the other forcing up pressed against each other the sword in her hand trembled and even with her strength increased Camilla felt it was hopeless if she stayed like this.
She had already lost the initiative and her knees were causing cracks in the ground.
In this situation, if it continued like this then she would no doubt lose and be cut in half.
That could not happen!
[Argh!]
So, she leaned the sword to the side letting the scythe slide down the blade, then with a slash she targeted its spider legs.
However the monster saw the attack coming and leapt, thrusting one of its legs as it landed to her side.
She had to evade but the spider leg moved too quickly and though she managed to evade a severe injury, the wound at her side was still very much deep.
But, she didn't care. She twisted and swung the sword again.
This type of fighting where one could ignore injury, one could only say only Camilla could pull it off.
Even with reluctant, Nagisa still opted to avoid injury and because his skills were already so proficient he had no need for this reckless fighting style.
However Camilla knew that her situation was different.
I'm weak so I have to find ways to defeat the strong!
This was her resolve.
Still-
Clang!
Her sword met a heavy clash with the steel like spider leg as it produced sparks and sent a numbing vibration through her arm.
Kh!
There was no pain, but the loosening grip in her hand holding the sword let her know that was a heavy strike.
If she did not regain control quickly it could be grave.
Before she could recover her bearings, a fist was planted in her stomach.
Boom!
Her body folded and with a shocking force she was sent flying through the air.
Her body crashed against the ground and she toppled several pillars just barely coming to a stop when her sword stabbed into the ground.
It was heavy. She could tell even as the pain was reduced, the power in that attack was enough to kill a normal human.
As a result her own body trembled almost refusing to stand up.
But, she could not fall here-
The moment her determined face looked up, the monster was already their its blade like hand swinging straight towards her.
Not good!
She lifted the sword from the ground meeting the attack almost being knocked off balance.
At the same time a spider leg came aiming straight at her chest and would land, however recognizing the danger Camilla gave her body away to the rotation falling and rolling away to her feet.
Yet the assault continued as the four spider legs targeted her all at once.
In a blur, they jabbed consecutively at such a high speed it wouldn't be an exaggeration for her to have several holes punched into her body.
However Camilla avoided the first attack leaping back then jumped high in the sky her sword falling towards the monsters head.
[Die!]
Still, it wouldn't be that easy. Although it mainly used its spider legs now it had two extra arms.
Firstly deflected the attack with the blade arm, it slashed its claw like hand at her.
Knocked off balance in the air and being countered so quickly, if this continued she would definitely be cut apart by those claws.
Block, she had to block it now!
Her body rotated with the force and she dragged her sword into the path of the incoming attack tanking the claws and being sent flying.
Yet, the monster now off its spider legs and using its two feet again lunged forward before she could even fall from being sent flying.
!!!
Its speed now was several times faster than before making Camilla terrified.
If the situation was like this it was getting more and more disadvantageous the longer the fight continued.
In this moment however she could only fight!
So she tapped her foot to the ground the moment she landed before the monster had completely closed the distance and slashed forward.
Clang!
Her blade and a spider leg clashed. She then wove around and under an attack before-
Clang!
Her blade once again met with an attack as the scythe traced a scarily close path to her neck just short of decapitating her.
But, the monster reached out towards her neck with its knife like claws. If those things wrapped around her neck, just squeezing her neck would kill her.
With a hurried tap she escaped the tips of its knife like fingers just centimeters from cutting through her neck.
But she couldn't get her balance and tripped.
Her pain reduction was indeed a blessing in battle, however it was also hard to feel the accumulated damage. Even as a ghoul this wore hard on her body.
But Camilla couldn't fall yet, she quickly got up disregarding the state of herself and held the sword.
Several thoughts ran through her mind about how to save herself however there was only one result.
Fight!
It wasn't that she was a battle maniac but turning her back here would likely result in dying faster and with its speed, could she even think about getting away?
Pouring out her remaining mana into her body, Camilla dashed towards the monster and attack.
What followed was her attack being easily deflected, but she didn't stop there attacking several times the sparks scattering like leaves.
Yet, nothing made it through and instead the monster countered with a leg thrusting at her torso and another stabbing at her face.
Gh!
Camilla raised her sword, blocking the attack at her face while she twisted her waist being slashed deeply.
At least she avoided being skewered but her damage had increased yet again.
It was infuriating how little she could do.
After pushing her back, the monster dashed towards her stabbing at her but missing due to her evasion and creating a crater on the ground.
Camilla leapt away and ran-
[Kh!...give me a break already!]
Though she said fighting was the only option, it seemed to only delay her death and honestly she wasn't confident she could take this monster on any longer.
Before she could even escape, the monster broke through the pillar before her and attacked.
Camilla swung the sword in every direction she could. Still, disregarding the fact that the monster seemed to grow stronger every second, her own situation was becoming worse.
It was horrifying.
How did the monster get stronger so suddenly? As if the more time went on the less she could keep up?
Knowing a battle of attrition was not in her favor, Camilla churned thoughts like crazy.
She could either continue to fight in search of an opportunity or just run away.
The first option was out, obviously!
If she continued the fight, wasn't that just waiting to be diced up into small pieces?
To begin with, does this bastard even have a weakness?
Even after fighting for so long there wasn't the slightest gap present, not a chink in the armor.
Or at least, she wasn't strong enough to notice it. Either way, there was only one way to save herself-
Run!

First, counter and evade!
The moment the golden barrier covered her in a dome, the spider leg stabbing towards her hit it and bounced off.
Even so, the barrier flickered obviously the impact from the attack was significant.
Now was her chance! Camilla, seeing the monsters balance topple swung her sword with all her strength.
Boom!
The power exploding from her titanic flesh added with the enhancement of mana surged into the sword slamming the monster to the ground.
However it wasn't cut, the sword felt more like a blunt weapon due to the monsters sturdy defense and though it created a crater in the ground it had little damage on the monster itself.
[No good!]
She intended to give it a deep wound so that she could have leeway and escape to find Nagisa, but the monster didn't even get a shallow cut.
No, it couldn't end like this!
While the monster still had yet to react, Camilla raised her sword once again.
The monster seemed to have come to its senses before she made a move and stabbed towards her and she barely dodged with a tilt of her head then leapt back.
But, she was determined to pay back even a little bit of the damage it had inflicted upon her.
Infusing her magical power into her body, she seemed to have tapped into a hidden power she had no idea about in the heat of the moment-

In that moment, Camilla felt her strength rise and her feet shattered the ground. Her speed was faster than ever before and she closed the distance in an instant.
The sword in her hand, infused with the new energy called 'Divine Power' slashed through the spider leg blocking the monster.
Then, before the monster could retreat she twisted the sword raising it above her head and drawing a line through its chest.
Boom!
The residual energy caused a shockwave that shattered the ground and send dust and debris flying everywhere.
Camilla had long jumped back, landing on the ground she felt the feeling of omnipotence earlier vanish.
What was that?
She had no idea what it was. What was divine power?
How was it different from holy energy she had been using all along?
Now didn't seem like the time for these questions however and she looked forwards.
There, missing a leg was the monster dripping blood from the wound carved deep into its chest a murderous air surrounding it.
