The two of them spoke at the same time, "Is this enough for you? (Can you finish all that?)"
The two of them laughed awkwardly, "Yeah, it's enough for me. (I can finish it.)"
Well, that was a bit awkward.
Mei Mengzhen ate as she asked, "So what do you want to ask?"
"About what happened today. I heard when the director picked me at first, he asked you what you thought. I want to know why you agreed with the director's choice."
There were a lot of people at the casting, so it's pretty normal for things to leak out.
Mei Mengzhen told it straight: "The director thought you were good, and asked me how you acted. I said I got there late so I didn't see your performance, so he had you come in and do another bit. Actually, what I said didn't really matter—it was the director who thought you fit, so in the end he picked you."
