Chapter 4 - Chapter 4 - Womens dorm

The trench-coat guy refused to talk to him and walked over to the NPC. "Where is my room?"

"Oh, the rooms are on the first floor. But before I show you guys around, let's wait for all our new little Thetas to assemble," he said, his tone firm.

Chu Siyan took the opportunity to look around. This place was obviously a fraternity house. That was probably why the NPC had called him "mister." They had all been assigned the identities of men, to be sure. He touched his face and glanced down at his clothes. He was still wearing his white shirt and shorts.

'Irrespective of gender, we're all being treated as men… Hmm, curious.'

A fraternity was exclusively for college men, so he assumed they were all new college students.

"So, how far is our college from here?" he asked the NPC.

The red T-shirt guy, who had been busy with his phone, glanced up. His grey eyes peered at him curiously. Chu Siyan simply nodded at him.

"Oh, it's just to our right. It'll only take us a few minutes to get there. My brothers and I will take you there. Don't worry. The first day of college can be nerve-wracking, but… it's fun~"

Chu Siyan nodded.

So, they had access to the college building as well.

This game was becoming much trickier to solve.

In ghost games like this, the main task was usually to solve the mysterious death of the ghost and figure out why he or she was still haunting the place. Since the NPC had informed them that they also had access to a college, their scope of investigation had expanded drastically.

The larger the campus, the harder it would be to find clues.

He frowned subtly.

"Don't worry. I won't let anyone bully you guys," the NPC soothingly whispered.

"How many seniors are here?"

"Oh, only four of us are staying here… The others left us… I don't mean that we're a dying fraternity. The Thetas are still popular in college, and we still have a lot of college credits involved. Don't be discouraged by that."

Chu Siyan nodded. "Why did they leave?"

The man's face suddenly turned pale.

"This… it's not important."

Right then, the front door banged open.

The handsome dude and his four companions entered the house grimly.

"Ah, the other guys are here. I'll assign your rooms to you now." He cheerfully clapped his hands. "Go Theta~"

The handsome dude simply smiled at him.

"Hello."

"Yes, hello. I'll show you guys around."

The man didn't spend much time explaining things to them. He simply took them around the place.

There was a common room with a huge TV, a small kitchen that looked extremely clean and unused, a bathroom on the ground floor, and six rooms upstairs.

The first two rooms had blue name tags hanging on their doors.

Chu Siyan reached out and touched the bedazzled crystals glued to one of them. The first room was occupied by the NPCs named Sam and Kyle, while the second room was occupied by Michael and Chris.

The other two NPCs didn't come out of their rooms to greet them.

"What is your name?" Chu Siyan asked softly.

"Chris. I'm Chris." He gave him a soft grin. "You guys can take whichever rooms you prefer. We have our very own cook who makes delicious food. Breakfast is at seven. Be there on time, or Figus will get grumpy. Lunch is at college, obviously, and dinner is at eight. That gives you guys plenty of time to settle into your rooms. I'll call you down when the food is ready."

The handsome dude and the four people following him took the first three rooms. There were only two beds per room.

The two guys chose the room closest to Chris's, while the two girls took the next room.

That left the handsome dude all alone.

He cast his eyes toward Chu Siyan.

"Come on, let's room together."

Chu Siyan took a step back.

"I'd rather not."

He watched the man's eyebrows twitch subtly.

"Suit yourself. You'll probably die in a day or so," he grumbled before walking into his room.

This left only three people standing in the hallway.

The trench-coat guy had already chosen a room. The red-shirt guy was looking between the two remaining rooms, one occupied by the handsome dude and the other by the trench-coat guy.

Just as he was about to walk toward the trench-coat guy's room, Chu Siyan hurried over and got there first.

"I'm taking this room. Sorry."

The young man frowned and reluctantly chose the room with the handsome dude.

Chu Siyan sighed.

He knew for sure that the red-shirt guy was experienced, while the trench-coat guy's experience was still unknown. At least he was kind enough to answer a few of his questions. Chu Siyan liked that about him and felt relatively comfortable around him.

He slowly entered the room.

The walls were painted blue, with a few posters of athletes and sporting events stuck to them. The trench-coat guy had already taken the first bed on the right. He was simply lying there without even removing his shoes.

Chu Siyan sat meekly on the other bed.

"One more question. What happens if we win all the levels?"

The man opened his eyes and peered at him coldly.

"You win."

"Yeah, what then? Do I get a reward? A ticket to heaven or something?"

"You get a wish and a life."

Chu Siyan's heart began pounding loudly in his chest.

'A life…'

That meant he could return to the real world.

And he could make a wish to become healthy again…

But reality quickly seeped in.

It wasn't just him.

All the players in this game were dead.

This novice level had eight players. That was only one group. Hypothetically speaking, there could be thousands upon thousands of players in this game, all with the same goal as him.

It wasn't going to be easy.

Chu Siyan lay on the bed, staring up at the uneven ceiling grout.

'It's okay… I'll just enjoy this game. At least now I'm out of my glass room, enjoying the fresh night breeze…'

His nose twitched slightly.

'It's not a fresh breeze… There is some smell…'

He sniffed the air again.

There was a subtle scent of blood still lingering in the air.

'Chris said not to leave the room at night. Most likely, something dangerous will come out and hunt in this area.'

But where there was danger, there was also a possibility of finding clues.
