Serial's pov
It was all over the news.
A clear publicity stunt. I may have been impressed if I didn't know this was coming.
"Sarafyna Yuriat is back in town. This confirms the engagement rumors with Serial Lockheart. She was spotted at the Cher Mer, having lunch with family. And of course, wherever the Yuriat are, high fashion resides. With their signature blonde hair and expensive manicures, they are the morning craze today. Everyone is excited to see this high fashion event. Sarafyna has reportedly been out of the country pursuing a degree and building businesses offshore for Yuriat Enterprises. And while we're all excited to see her back in high society, there's obviously no one more excited than Serial Lockheart. His fiancée is back after 5 long years. Congrats to both families"
Serial immediately turned off the news and rolled his eyes. Just another blonde with money, he thought. Bad enough that her father is having his fun with those two poor girls before pawning them off. Their mother looks like she never got out of the self-centered phase. She looked snobbish and negligent.
He huffed in exasperation, then he grabbed his phone and texted Tray.
"Are you down to hang out tonight?"
"Yeah, if Eli lets me get away"
"Right. Tell him I need a brother right now"
"Oh, you might want to tell him that yourself", he responded
Serial rolled his eyes.
"Tray, seriously I need someone to talk to about this marriage and my little chess piece pawn bride"
"I know, I was going to ask everyone out for drinks this weekend. But I really can't make it tonight. It's our anniversary and Eli spent all week making sure everything she planned for the past month is perfect. I want to be there for you but not when something else like this is the cost"
I could feel his desperation through the phone, so I sighed. It wasn't like waiting 3more days to the weekend would kill me. I could always text Blaze.
"I get it Tray. Tell Eli I said hi you ass-licker!"
"Take it easy Siri. Let me know if you want to meet alone before the weekend"
"Okay, third brother "
"Piss off cunt"
"Back at ya ass-licker"
I smiled the friendly insult, and then I texted Blaze.
Here I was starting at my baby brother who was now married and had a baby on the way. He was not looking like a baby anymore. I almost laughed at the thought. He was scribbling away on a piece of baby.
"So…there are 5 types", he said jolting my memory back to the present.
I nodded briefly trying to take this as seriously as I could.
He went through the types.
Type A: Arrogant-snobby ones like Amanda Haughton
Type B: Bitch-bossy- badass ones like Briana Devin
Type C: Cute-absolutely lovable ones like Carina Rosemburg
Type D: Daredevils like Amerylla Morning-Dew
Type E: Evil sociopaths like Emma LeBron
And then he handed me the pen and list to make my own list. If I had to guess, this list was solely based on his dating experiences and since, I thought it would be impossible to make one.
I can't believe I'm actually doing this, I thought as I began to scribble.
Type A: Arrogant snobby ones like Sarafyna Yuriat
Type B: Bitch-bossy ones like Bella Duvall
Type C: Cute-absolutely lovable ones like Carina Rosemburg
Type D: Dreamy tempting ones like Yna.
Type E: Evil social climbers like Elena Stilinski.
Bella was his first girlfriend and Carina was a family friend they grew up with. She was in a league of her own.
Honestly, he didn't even know Sarafyna but that was probably the only reason why she was Type A. Fresh blonde hair, manicured fingers, Louboutin heels screamed arrogant and snobby louder than anything else.
After making the list and waiting for Blaze's approval, they ordered some drinks from the bar while Blaze talked about Amy.
"I don't know if I'm ready to be a dad yet"
I frowned and huffed a little
"You're having second thoughts?", I asked
He shook his head
"No really but I'm just not as confident as I was last month when we drove down the high way at dawn for a stomach bug. That really scared the hell out of me"
"Zee, I get it. I would be scared too. I mean there's more responsibility and intentionality when a baby comes into the picture. On the bright side, Grandma Mari would probably have you move in back with her, Mom and Dad", I said with a laugh.
He snorted
"Yeah, that's never happening. How the hell am I supposed to get intimate at the risk of having Grandma sneaking around our room because she wants to see the baby?"
We both laughed
"Yeah, I don't think that'll be your biggest worry. You should be more worried about turning into a prime stallion only for the purpose of continuing the lineage"
"Look whose talking, you're about to get married. I'm pretty sure the rest of the lineage is in your hands since we can't count on Tray. Amy and I have paid our dues"
I snorted at that. Yeah, Tray really ended the line.
"Guess Bryant will have to do the heavy lifting for him and Tray"
"On a serious note though, I really think you should at least spend these next couple of months getting to know Sarafyna. I mean, without the prejudices. Sometimes not everything is as it seems and you might end up finding something precious when you're not looking for it. Like Amy and I did"
I regarded him for a long time, thinking about his words. After a couple of minutes, I nodded briefly before gulping down my glass of whiskey.
It was smooth and just what I need in that most.
"It's 4 months Zee, and then blissful freedom. Although no one said anything about not having some fun. I could do with some sexual favors right now while I play this social, class and business merger game"
At the thought, the sexy secretary's image popped up intrusively in my mind.
Yna.
