Chapter 127 - Chapter 124: Escape?

Hajime saw Rihito off, rocketing after that blob of flesh as it barreled toward the dimensional wall. Just like Naize said, it was trying to escape this place. His gaze flicked to the whale, which was nearly finished devouring the part of the monster that had attacked and was holding it in place.

"Alright, guys…"

BOOM!!

Before he could finish, Tohru shot off like a missile, her departure shaking the air with aftershocks.

Hajime "..."

[Well, that was expected.] He thought.

"Hey, no fair!" Shea protested, seeing her go. She, too, was about to jump and go after Rihito.

Shizuku grabbed her shoulder firmly, stopping her from leaving. "Don't; we need you here right now." She pointed at the newly spawned monsters swarming the ground.

Shea froze, realising the escalating situation, then grumbled under her breath.

Hajime looked up, noticing the shimmering barrier had vanished—likely because the whale had been knocked back. Several monsters were already eyeing them as prey.

[This is getting troublesome.]

"Well then…" Hajime steadied himself, his tone sharp as he began issuing orders.

Rihito surged forward, chasing the fleeing blob of flesh. It had shrunk to barely a fourth of its original thirty-meter size, but its speed was unnerving. He readied Muramasa, pouring light magic into the blade, and unleashed a crescent arc of .

The blob of flesh moved agilely and darted around the attack. It sensed the danger and responded, forming a small part of itself into a small projectile and firing back like a bullet.

Rihito easily dodged around the bullets and followed with more crescent arcs of .

The blob of flesh used more of its body and enhanced it with its grudge-filled mana, firing a larger flesh projectile to block the rays of Disintegration.

Seeing it block His attacks, Rihito was about to use a stronger, concentrated beam of disintegration to annihilate it in one go. He concentrated his mana, charging it to a powerful attack, ready to fire through his blade.

"Master, don't worry, I will take care of it."

Tohru flew past him like a rocket, saying that. Forcing me to suddenly halt the attack.

"Damn it, Tohru!" Rihito grumbled, nearly firing at her by accident.

BOOOM!!

Tohru crashed right on top of the flesh monster, creating a crater. She immediately swung her draconic claw, trying to deal with the creature in one swoop. but…

The blob of flesh, sensing danger, split itself again. One part lunged at Tohru, while the remaining section darted towards the wall in a desperate attempt to escape. Just as Tohru prepared to counter the attack, the first half flung itself at her with surprising speed, determined to overwhelm her. The remaining portion, however, seemed intent on breaching the barrier, its twisted form surging forward, eager to break free from the confines of this dimension.

But right before it could get through the dimensional wall, a shimmering barrier engulfed it, trapping it.

"!" Rihito's voice was cold as he annihilated it instantly.

His attention went to Tohru, who was currently tangled with the other half of the monster.

Tohru used her draconic fist to smash through the monster's grotesque, sludge-like body, but it acted like liquid, taking attacks and reforming in the next instant.

"Ugh, not again!" she snarled as her fist then lit up with her dragon flames, and she punched.

BOOOM!!

This time, a part of the sludge monster was smashed, then incinerated by the searing heat of her fire punch. The remaining body detached that part, and made a distance reforming and regenerated. Right then, it sensed that the part of it that was escaping had been captured, and then its connection to it was gone. There was no response there anymore.

The sudden loss of connection made it halt for a moment, giving Tohru an opening.

"Just die already!" Tohru used Spatial Magic, locking the monster in place and punching it with her fist clad in her dragon fire with greater strength than usual, obliterating it completely.

BOOOMM!!

The force of that punch reverberated throughout the entire dimension, creating a deep, scorching crater where the impact landed. Buildings in the vicinity crumbled under the sheer pressure, dust and debris filling the air as the aftermath of Tohru's overwhelming strength became evident. The ground trembled, and for a brief moment, it felt as though the dimension itself might collapse, and the thing was that it would have if the white whale's presence hadn't been here to enhance the dimension.

Tohru stood amidst the chaos, breathing heavily but with a triumphant smile, as if she had finally finished a tedious job.

Floating down from the sky, I rubbed my forehead, seeing the destruction she caused. Before speaking to her, I scanned the area for any remaining signs of the blob; sensing none, my gaze shifted to a stern one.

"Tohru," Rihito said softly with a smile, but in his tone, there was an undertone of anger.

Tohru straightened up, sensing the pressure in those words.

"M-master?" She squirmed under his gaze, and for a moment, she did not understand what she had done wrong.

Didn't she just beat the monster? Then why was he angry?

"Master, did I do something wrong?" she asked. Her eyes were moving nervously.

"Oh? You don't understand what you did wrong?" Rihito asked her instead, putting a bit more pressure on her.

Seeing her fidgeting nervously like a shy schoolgirl. I sighed and pointed at the surroundings. "Look around and tell me."

Tohru stood upon the charred crater, gazing at the devastated area and the crumbling building in the distance. She finally understood. Looking down, she felt ashamed seeing the damage she had caused. "I—I lost control," she admitted.

"Yes, you did. If I hadn't put up a barrier to contain the damage, things could have been worse." I punctuated the point. "You could have hurt Myu and others."

She felt remorseful. "I just wanted to make this easier for you."

"That still doesn't change the fact that you cause damage to the surroundings." She went silent for a moment.

"Master, I promise this will never happen again," she said, looking at him with determination.

"You'd better keep that promise. This time it was fine—this is a pocket dimension filled only with monsters. But if people had been here, they wouldn't have survived. Remember that."

Right then, they heard a low, whistling growl, which reverberated throughout the dimension. Rihito's attention immediately went towards that direction.

Tohru and Rihito both flew up high, and he simultaneously expanded his and to get an idea of the situation.

In the distance, we spotted the white whale. Hajime, Yue, Miledi, and Naize gathered near the dimensional wall, dispatching several monsters. Rihito felt uneasy seeing them so close to the wall and the creatures. He sensed something was off about the monsters and knew he needed to examine them closely to understand the situation better.

"Don't tell me." he suddenly got an idea. He immediately blasted off towards the place. Tohru flew after him.

In seconds, Rihito and Tohru appeared near them.

"What happened here?" I asked, noticing everyone had a pensive gaze.

Hajime, with a grimace, spoke, "A part of that creature escaped this dimension."

"..."

[Fuck! That's a mess of huge proportions. Who knows when and where that thing will find itself, causing chaos. If it's far in the future, there is a bit of leeway, but if it went in the past… the past might change, and that will cause the present to change.]

"How did that happen?" Rihito's frown deepened.

"That thing had put a part of itself in the core of multiple rogue monsters somehow, likely when it knocked away the whale or even before, who knows." Hajime was irritated, messing this up. With a pause, he continued. "While dealing with stragglers," I noticed a group of monsters was slowly heading towards the edge of the dimension. I tried to stop them, but between all this chaos, one got away."

"So, that attempt at suicidal attacks and trying to escape was all a gamble to distract us."

"Seems so; that thing was smarter than we gave it credit for." Hajime nodded. He looked up at the whale, which was circling above them. "Now, the whale is currently trying to find out at what time and place that thing has gone."

"..."

We waited as my gaze landed on Naize and Miledi inspecting the place of the boundary where I suppose the monster had escaped from.

Rihito walked towards them and asked, "Found something?"

"Eekkk!!!" Suddenly hearing my voice, Miledi jumped up and backed away, putting immediate distance.

"Hey! I did nothing wrong ok!"

Rihito "..."

Rihito, seeing her react so violently, had his eyes twitch.

[Was she traumatised that badly?] It's not like he feels bad about it; she deserves it.

While Rihito's thoughts wandered, from behind him, Tohru narrowed her eyes threateningly. Although Rihito was acting cordially, she knew he didn't like her, not one bit. She unconsciously clenched her fist, releasing a bit of her aura.

"Tohhhru!" I sternly called out.

She immediately suppressed her aura, acting like she did nothing wrong.

He decided to ignore Miledi and ask the other person.

"Did you find something?"

"Well, for now, nothing," Naize shook his head.

"Is there any of those monsters left?" Rihito was hoping to get a proper idea of those monsters.

"We finished them off. No way we will leave any after finding out what it was trying to do." Hajime rolled his eyes at him.

"Thought so. Well, I would have done the same."

Right, then the white whale stopped circling us and slowly swam through the sky near us.

[I have found it.]
