- Velzard -
A vicious scowl formed upon her face once Guy teleported away. He had planned to go to Tempest after he met with Dagruel to speak about a few things. Guy had said he wished to see what that Slime, Rimuru Tempest, was up to with taking control of the Council of the West.
Felix, and even Rimuru, were becoming new sources of… interest for Guy. Both had awakened their own Ultimate Skills, which was impressive, but she was not happy.
She had originally thought that Guy's interest in Felix would wane, and by extension Rimuru. They were no Rudras, after all. Guy had never even used half of his true power in any of his spars against Felix, making her think that Felix had fallen short of Rudra in Guy's mind.
She liked Felix. He was an interesting Daemon, and she was grateful to him for being her troublesome little brother's friend. Her and Velgrynd had tried many things in the past to get Veldora to cooperate. However, while he was born with incredible amounts of potential, all of it remained untapped due to his little ego.
His intelligence was so little back then, that the only thing he could think of and enjoy was causing wanton destruction. It was the mindset of an animal, nothing more. No matter how much they tried to explain, he would not listen, and so began the cycle of destruction for him.
Now, however, it seemed something had changed. Now his ego was strong; strong enough to acquire an Ultimate Skill, and she was happy for him.
Now she was willing to entertain Felix's company so long as he did not draw Guy's attention for long. But it had been long, and Guy could still be seen with his happy-go-lucky smirk. Perhaps a few mere months was not long in her total lifespan, but ordinarily nothing drew his attention for so long.
And she knew it was because of the new variables that had appeared, because of Felix. Because Felix would help Guy in his game against Rudra. Because Felix was strong.
She could admit to herself that she was worried once she heard that Guy gave the data of Lucifer, Lord of Pride over to Felix. That was something he hadn't done for anyone before, not even for her, not even Velda. Though her elder brother didn't ask.
Most importantly, even Rudra did not receive such an honor. Felix's abilities gave him an incredible amount of potential, as while compatibility played a part in how well one could wield an Ultimate Skill, copying them was still an extremely useful ability. It gave the user understanding over the Laws the Ultimate Skill manipulated, and in this world, knowledge was just as valuable as power.
It was how Guy had managed to fight her evenly. His sheer knowledge and skill alone allowed him to fight on the same level as True Dragons without the power of a True Dragon.
Though that changed once her brother gave him his weapon. After that, he could even match the raw power of her.
Lucifer, Lord of Pride was more than just any Ultimate Skill. It was the manifestation of Guy's pride, something that could tip the balance in ways even she couldn't fully predict. For Guy to hand over such data to Felix meant that he saw the Daemon as more than just an amusing distraction. He saw him as perhaps… an equal. Someone worthy of holding such an important piece of data, and someone he trusted with it.
For while what Felix did for Guy was something to be grateful for, it gave Guy two Devil Lords under his command. For him to give Lucifer, Lord of Pride over for it was something she would have never seen coming.
Two Devil Lords would assist Guy greatly in the upcoming war against Rudra. A single Primordial Devil Lord was far more valuable than the average True Demon Lord. The sheer breadth of knowledge each possessed could not be underestimated.
And that, more than anything, infuriated her. She envied Felix beyond measure. She wanted what he had. It was almost a desperate desire. He had managed to get Guy's respect. He had managed to gain Guy's interest and desire. It was always them and not her.
Her Unique Skill: Envy bubbled up to the surface, its own desire aligning with hers, her desire to want, and to take what they had.
A deep chill settled into Velzard's gut, something she rarely felt. She had always been confident in her own power, in her place by Guy's side. She was the Frost Dragon, one of the strongest beings in existence.
But things were changing.
You're deluding yourself, you always knew you weren't good enough
Her lips curved downwards as the voice in the back of her head made itself known.
Guy was always kind to her, and yet he wouldn't let her properly stand next to him.
Because you're weak.
No! She was the strongest of True Dragon-kind under her elder brother!
You are weak, that is why Guy does not truly acknowledge you.
No! I have the right to stand next to him too!!
Do you truly?
Of course!
If that's the case, then why did Guy only play with Rudra? Why does he only show interest in Felix and not you? Never you?
That's…
It's because you are weak. You have always been weak
Was she… weak?
If you were stronger, Guy would look at you.
He will look at me?
Yes, that's right.if you were stronger.
She'd be able to stand next to Guy…
She needed to ask Twilight for his advice. He had been a constant ally in her goals to stand next to Guy. Only right now, he was in an evolutionary sleep, less for evolutionary reasons and more because an experiment of his went wrong according to him. And now he needed to rest to recuperate some of his lost soul energy.
Her and Twilight's partnership went back thousands of years. He had come to her to ask for assistance in an experiment. She refused at first, but then Twilight offered to assist her in her goal of getting Guy to truly recognize her. With that, she agreed, as her only goal had been for Guy to truly recognize her.
Twilight wished for her to freeze his ego, merely out of his own curiosity to see what would happen. She succeeded in freezing his ego as she knew she would. She was not called the Frost Dragon for nothing. She could freeze anything she put her mind to; Information Particles, spiritrons, souls, soul corridors, and more.
Thanks to Twilight's ego being frozen, they discovered that he could no longer change as an individual. His personality was locked to the one he had when she froze his ego.
She went on to replicate this process in herself, so her ego would forever remain the same, her personality would remain steady.
Thanks to this, should she even die and reincarnate as all True Dragons were capable of, she would remain the exact same. As when True Dragons died, they retained most of their previous incarnations' memories. It was merely that the egos were different, which changed the personality. This would not apply to her.
At that point, Twilight was obsessed with the karmic fates of surpassing their parent and killing God, and so he stayed that way. His ambitions would remain the same from that day forth.
He wished to show her brother that it was possible for the child to surpass the parent; a desire that was engraved in Twilight since birth.
In fact, she would consider it a curse; a curse her elder brother engraved in a few individuals. One meant to compel them to surpass him, Veldanava, the creator of this world. One he placed in those who he believed were capable of it. An ambition that would remain unfulfilled.
She thought it was a foolish ambition, as her brother's will reigned supreme, but Twilight still persisted, as did the others her brother cursed with that ambition. Twilight dubbed the curse the "God Killing Curse".
This curse also had the possibility of passing onto one's child. Twilight wished to observe the curse in action as it had passed onto his daughter, Luminous. And so he arranged things so that Luminous would kill a version of him, a split consciousness, all while his true self inhabited her. With this, the curse on Luminous also faded away, satisfying the condition behind it, and Twilight got to observe it in action.
That was the story behind Twilight Valentine's death. It was all a mere hoax to satisfy his curiosity, and his daughter played her part perfectly.
And now, to this day, he remained inside of her, assisting her with her goals while he had his own things he did on the side through his parallel consciousness. No one knew of this, not even Guy.
He had become a new kind of lifeform, one she had not even heard about until Twilight told her about it. He was a Manas, a completely Digital Lifeform with the ability to freely manipulate Information Particles and exist as an Information Body.
Of course, due to her elder brother's death, the God Killer Curse remained unsatisfied, and so Twilight had to distract himself in other ways, or he would just put himself to sleep for sometime to recover from the strain of the curse.
It wasn't until recently that he began showing interest in the state of the world once more.
Even he was interested in the two new Demon Lords, both Felix and Rimuru.
Her fists clenched as the air around her grew even frostier. The frost thickened, forming an intricate pattern of ice along the grand chamber's ice floor.
The moisture crystallized into delicate snowflakes that drifted listlessly before vanishing into nothingness. Velzard's emotions stirred the very essence of her being, and the world responded in kind.
She let out a slow breath, watching it coil into a visible mist before her eyes. Even Twilight seemed more interested in Felix than in helping her. Just before he fell into his temporary coma, he had been laughing madly, saying that he had underestimated Felix before saying that he would need to go to sleep for some time. She wasn't even able to get a word in before she felt Twilight's presence vanish.
"Felix…" The name alone sent a pulse of ice outward, shattering the fragile frost into glistening shards.
What made him so special? Why had Guy placed such faith in him?
She closed her eyes, allowing the cold to seep into her core, into the deepest recesses of her mind where her Envy grew. Even her thoughts froze over, crystallizing into sharp, jagged doubts that cut her more than she cared to admit.
What should she do?
- Felix -
I stood up from my chair, took a step forward, and appeared in front of Hinata.
My eyes widened upon looking at her state of dress. She wasn't dressed in anything super crazy, I just wasn't used to seeing her like this. She wore a sleek dress that hugged her curves, but not too tightly. Minimal skin was shown, but I wasn't going to complain. The dress suited Hinata.
A grin slowly spread on my lips. "You look great Hinata! It seems you're ready for our date then?"
I originally expected for us to actually plan the date first, but it seems she wanted to just wing it, which I was fine with. There were still a few hours left in the day, which was rather absurd when you thought about it.
So much happened in the last two days. There was the attack, the discussion with Guy, the discussion I had in Tempest, speaking to Damrada again, and more.
Perhaps a normal person would be rather pressed about doing everything I had today, but I had a far higher tolerance for those kinds of things. It didn't hurt that I had an absurd amount of stamina, enough that I could fight for weeks at a time.
So the amount of events that happened today wasn't bothersome for me. Doing a bit of real work here and there wasn't bad when I spent most of my days doing what I wanted.
Raiden and Saeko's fight had already finished, and both were recovering from it. The fight was quite something. Raiden attempted a few new techniques that seemed to have a lot of potential while Saeko perfected what she had.
Saeko would have won if she was facing the Raiden from before she got the Unique Skill: Maid, since as it was, Raiden's Unique Skill helped her a lot in the fight. Saeko just had a more hax ability, making it difficult to face her on the same tier, but Raiden's new Maid Skill was also rather good.
In the end, Saeko used her Divine Berserker Unique Skill, which temporarily allowed her to spiritualize and dramatically elevated her combat power at the cost of a lot of energy. Raiden managed to mimic this to a certain degree by turning herself into physical lightning. As a being also completely made out of energy at that point, she was able to go toe-to-toe with a spiritualized Saeko.
In the end, the both of them had improved an incredible amount and I was proud of them.
I planned to have Raiden, Saeko, and Kurumi go through the Life Reconstruction soon. Since the process had been optimized by Othinus, it would only take 50,000 souls for each of them, 150,000 total.
After Arcueid, Megumin, and Lalatina's Life Reconstructions I still had 1,250,000 souls so I would have enough.
In theory, Life Reconstruction could scale pretty far. However, there was an issue of compatibility and potential with Arcueid, Megumin, Lalatina, Saeko, Raiden, and Kurumi.
The souls were of High Humans, so there was only a limited amount of improvement they could provide. If I had 1,000,000 Oni souls, then Saeko could theoretically infinitely go through Life Reconstruction until I ran out of Oni souls.
However, that's when potential came in. At a certain point, your soul and body won't be able to handle all that energy, which is when you have reached your potential so you cannot improve anymore. So while Life Reconstruction was broken, it was still a dangerous Art that could go wrong, and tended to be useless after a certain point.
Damrada seemed to be getting settled in just fine. He hadn't challenged anyone to a fight yet like I thought he would, but I knew he would eventually. Arcueid had informed me that she had decided on Damrada's role. He was basically going to be managing the Council of the West for her, so he would likely be away quite often which was fine with me.
The two seemingly had a fruitful discussion. At the very least, Arcueid seemed to approve of him, which was not easy.
Hinata rolled her eyes at my grin but didn't refute the compliment. That was progress. She shifted slightly, folding her arms beneath her chest as she let out a small huff.
"If I wasn't ready, I wouldn't be here." She said, her usual sharp tone softened just a little.
I chuckled. It was a classic Hinata maneuver. Even when she was clearly flustered, she maintained that unwavering confidence. But I could see the tiny hints of hesitation in the way she kept adjusting her stance; her fingers lightly brushing against the fabric of her dress. It must have been something to break through her control.
She was nervous.
And that was honestly adorable.
"Well, I'm honored." I said, extending a hand toward her with a playful smirk. "Since we're apparently just going with the flow, shall we get going?"
As I said that, I went through the various things I could do with her. Thought Acceleration really was great.
I promised to show her the Harry Potter movies when I mentioned the wall back in Lune being similar to the entrance to Diagon Alley, but that would take a few hours to properly get through, so we can do that another time. For a movie date, it wouldn't do to accelerate it even if we could understand it even at extremely high speeds.
Movies ought to be enjoyed the way they were made. I was a purist like that.
What would Hinata enjoy? She wasn't some delicate wallflower, but she was still feminine in nature, so I think she'd enjoy some more traditional date activities, and that wasn't me just stereotyping either. I'd like to say I knew her fairly well by this point, so I was pretty sure I was right.
At the very least, I don't think she'd look at me very fondly if I said we can just spar.
I had game! I wouldn't make that kind of rookie mistake!
Hinata gave me a look, but I caught the faintest hint of amusement in her eyes before she sighed and finally placed her hand in mine.
I squeezed her hand gently which seemed to fluster Hinata. "D-Don't squeeze so tightly!" She said as she turned her head to the side, attempting to hide her embarrassment.
Ah, she really was too much fun to tease.
I chuckled, loosening my grip slightly but not letting go. "My bad, my bad." I said, though I made no attempt to hide the grin on my face. "Didn't expect you to be this delicate, Hinata." I said, knowing my words would annoy her.
Her head snapped back toward me, eyes narrowing in that familiar glare. "I am not delicate."
I laughed outright at that. "Relax, I'm just messing with you."
She huffed, but I could tell she wasn't actually mad. If anything, I could see the tension in her shoulders slowly easing up, just as I hoped for. Messing with Hinata usually got her to ease up a bit. It would be no fun if she was stiff the entire date.
Now, back to the plan.
"I think I know what to do."
Hinata smiled. "I will leave it in your hands then."
Still holding her hand, I gave a light tug, leading her forward, she complied without resistance.
With Thought Acceleration still running, I quickly mapped out the best plan. Nothing too extravagant, as I didn't think Hinata would enjoy something too crazy to start out with. I think she'd like something simple and enjoyable.
I decided to take her to a city a little ways off from my capital city, one that had developed significantly since I took over this territory and had Arcueid begin improving the living situation of my citizens.
I had been to it once before, just to take a look at some other cities in my territory. It had a lively night market, a few nice restaurants, and, most importantly, good food.
Before she could question where we were going, I teleported us, and in an instant, we appeared right at the market's entrance.
It was evening now so the market was in full swing. There were lanterns that lit up the streets. The air was filled with the scent of sizzling meats and sweet pastries. A bunch of people were laughing and talking, just enjoying their lives. Merchants called out their best deals, and couples strolled past, some linking arms, others just enjoying the atmosphere.
I had placed the two of us under an illusion as I teleported us, so no one would recognize us.
Hinata blinked, momentarily thrown off by the sudden change in scenery. "You really don't waste time, do you?" She said as she looked around. I took note of what her eyes seemed to be drawn to.
"Why would I?" I shot her a grin. "Time is precious, and so is good food."
Hinata nodded seriously. "Indeed. Good food is important." She said. I smirked. Hinata was a foodie through-and-through.
I gave her hand a slight squeeze. Not enough to fluster her this time, but just enough to remind her I was still holding it. She glanced at our hands briefly but didn't pull away.
"Alright then," I continued, leading her into the market. "I figured we'd just go with the flow. Sample some food, take in the sights, stuff like that."
"A rather simple date."
"You don't like the plan?" I thought she'd enjoy something simple like this, but if she didn't I could arrange something else.
Hinata shook her head. "I didn't say that. I prefer more simple things like this."
"That's why I chose this based on your preferences."
Hearing me, a small smile grew on Hinata's face. "I see."
We strolled through the bustling market; the aroma of grilled skewers and freshly baked pastries filling the air. My senses picked up on everything; laughter from nearby stalls, the sizzling of meat, even the faint clink of coins being exchanged.
Events like this could really be a lot of fun from time to time. The food at these kinds of places was always amazing as well.
Hinata's attention was drawn to a nearby stand where a vendor was flipping some sort of deep-fried treat in hot oil. I smirked.
"Interested?"
She hesitated, then nodded slightly. "I've never seen this before."
"It's really rather good. Not all good food has to originate from earth." I said as I led us to the stall in question.
I walked up to the vendor and ordered two servings. The man handed us each a skewer with golden, crispy pastries drizzled with honey. I took a bite, humming in approval.
Hinata, ever the cautious one, examined hers first before taking a small bite.
Her eyes widened just a fraction.
I grinned. "Good?"
"Nn." She nodded as she took another bite.
We continued walking, stopping at various stalls. At one point, we passed by a game stand where people were trying (and mostly failing) to knock down stacked bottles with a small ball. I glanced at Hinata.
It was a cliche for a reason, and so I would fulfill the trope as I was obligated to.
There were prizes littered behind the stall, but when I read the stall owner's mind I found out that he had a special reward for couples that did exceptionally well so I changed my plan a bit.
Hinata seemed to have noticed my interest. "What?"
I knew just how to get her to play with me. "Think you can win?"
She scoffed. "Please."
The two of us stepped closer to the stall. I handed the vendor some coins. "Two rounds."
The vendor grinned, setting up the game while Hinata and I waited.
I tossed the ball in my hand as I examined the set up.
Once the game was all set up, I went first. I casually flicked the ball with just enough force to knock down every single bottle in one go. The vendor gawked, and a few bystanders murmured in surprise.
I turned to Hinata, grinning. "Your turn."
She exhaled, rolled her shoulders, and threw the ball.
It hit dead center, toppling all the bottles with precise accuracy.
The vendor blinked. "…Huh."
I let out a low whistle. "Not bad."
She crossed her arms, smug. "You sound surprised."
"Nah, I just didn't expect the Hinata Sakaguchi to be so competitive about a game like this." I said as I muffled my voice so no one but Hinata could hear.
She gave me a flat look. "Says the one who started this."
I chuckled. "Fair."
The vendor, still stunned by our performance, let out an awkward chuckle before rubbing the back of his head. "Well, I'd say you two definitely earned yourselves a prize. Since you both cleared the game flawlessly, I have a special reward for couples like you." He said with a wink.
I raised a brow, already aware of what he had in mind but playing along anyway. "Special reward, huh?"
Hinata gave the vendor a skeptical look but didn't object.
With a grin, he reached behind the counter and pulled out a small, ornate-looking box. "This is a charm said to bring good fortune to couples. Handmade by a skilled artisan, it's a one-of-a-kind piece." He said in a traditional salesmany tone.
He opened the box to reveal a beautifully crafted bracelet, adorned with a small gem that seemed to shimmer under the market's lantern light. With a quick glance I could tell that the vendor was just bullshitting. There was no sort of special effect on the bracelet, Hinata could tell as well.
I glanced at Hinata, who was staring at the bracelet, her expression unreadable. I could sense the slightest hesitation in her aura, though.
Ah, this was perfect.
I reached out and took the bracelet before turning to Hinata with a teasing smirk. "Well, we won it together, so I think it's only fair that you wear it."
She blinked at me, caught off guard. "Why me?"
"Because it'd suit you better." I said smoothly.
Her lips parted slightly as if she was about to argue, but then she shut them again. She let out a small sigh. "Fine."
I grinned and, before she could take it from me, gently took her wrist and clasped the bracelet around it myself.
Hinata tensed for a moment before relaxing into my grip.
"There." I said, stepping back slightly to admire my handiwork. "Looks good on you."
She stared down at the bracelet for a moment, her fingers brushing over the gem before she looked back up at me. "…Thanks."
I smiled. "See? That wasn't so hard, was it?"
Her eyes narrowed, and she lightly smacked my arm. "Shut up."
I laughed.
The vendor, now grinning like an old man witnessing young love, waved us off. "Enjoy the rest of your night, you two." He said as he winked at me in particular.
______________________________________________________________________
As Hinata and I were finishing up our last snack, I went through what we had done tonight. It was a rather successful date, all things considered.
After the game, we walked around, played a few more games, ate good food, and spoke about various things.
I didn't ask about anything related to Ruberious or anything, as that was a bit more work related and had no place on a date.
There was one more thing I had to talk to Hinata about, which I would do once we left.
This date was more of a test run, if you ask me. Something to give us both an idea of what the other was like in a romantic sense. One date was far from enough for something like that, but it did give both of us a general idea of the expectations of one another, and it was successful in that purpose. Not to mention the date itself was also pretty enjoyable.
It was rather simple, but sometimes it wasn't about what you did, but who you did it with.
It didn't take much longer for us to finish up both of our churros. The night market was winding down now, so there wasn't much left to do.
"Is there anything else you want to do?" I asked Hinata.
She shook her head, a slight rosy tint to her cheeks. "No, this was wonderful. Thank you Felix."
"I should be the one thanking you. It's not everyday I get to go on a date with a woman as wonderful as you."
Hinata's lips twitched. "Hmph!" Outwardly she seemed exasperated, but through Lover, I could tell she was happy at the compliment.
With that, I teleported the two of us back to my palace. More specifically, one of the studies that were littered around. I didn't take us to my room or anything. This was only the first date and Hinata was a more traditional type of woman and I didn't want to push her into doing something she wasn't committed to.
She looked around, examining the surroundings. I could sense some relief inside of her, but surprisingly there was also some disappointment. I ignored that for now.
"Take a seat." I said while gesturing to one of the love seats. As Hinata did so I walked over to the wine cupboard in the corner of the room, picked up two glasses and a bottle before taking my seat across from Hinata.
I served her a glass of wine before taking a glass for myself. After taking a sip I looked her in the eyes.
She took a sip, savoring the taste before setting the glass down. "So," She said, crossing one leg over the other. "What is it you wanted to discuss?"
I exhaled softly. "I won't beat around the bush." I met her gaze evenly. "You're aware that I already have other lovers." This was a talk to get out of the way at the start. If Hinata wasn't okay with such a thing then there was no point in going forward with whatever it was that was developing.
I did like and care for Hinata, despite the odds. When we first met I never would have considered such a thing happening. She just wasn't my type back then. But things change; people change.
Hinata didn't flinch, but I noticed her fingers subtly tightening around the stem of her glass.
"I did." She admitted.
I nodded. "I wanted to make it clear from the start, so that you are aware of what you are getting into before anything is taken too deep. I respect you too much to deceive you or let you think this was something different."
I sensed a spike of her emotions at my words. A complex mix of them, as well, making it hard to decipher. Joy at my respect for her, jealousy for not having my sole attention, appreciation for my honesty, and even a hint of adoration for just looking out for her.
The jealousy was strong, but her other emotions overpowered it.
Unlike all my other lovers, Hinata was not raised in this world. She may have spent more time on this world than her earth, but her early formative years still made her who she was. A part of her still had that lingering attachment to how things worked back on earth. Two people got married and had a monogamous relationship. That was just how it went generally. Not that there weren't those who defied the odds, but that was what you were "supposed" to do.
She sighed as her violet eyes studied me carefully. "Do you think I would be fine with that?" She asked.
I decided to be honest. "I don't expect anything. I don't expect you to accept right away or ever, this is definitely something unusual by your standards. But I want to be honest with you, Hinata. I care about you, and I don't want this, whatever it is between us, to be built on half-truths or unspoken expectations."
She swirled the wine in her glass, thinking. "You're lucky I already knew this about you." A small smirk played on her lips, though there was still something serious in her gaze. "If I didn't, I might have thrown this glass at you."
I chuckled. "Maybe that would have done something if my Infinity wouldn't have caught it."
Hinata's lips twitched as she held back her smile.
She let out a soft huff, setting her glass down on the table between us. "Felix, you're insufferable."
I smiled at returning to our usual byplay.
Things seemed to have gone as good as they could have, all things considered.
Hinata sighed, resting her elbow on the armrest and propping her chin against her hand. Her violet eyes studied me, as if searching for something. Doubt, insincerity, weakness; whatever it was, she wouldn't find it.
"I never expected to be having this type of conversation with you." Hinata said as she swirled her glass.
I smirked. "I didn't expect this either, you know. You were rather insufferable when we first met. I didn't really like you."
To be fair, she did have some admirable qualities back then, I just didn't like her because of what she did to Rimuru, or rather what she tried to do to him.
Hinata rolled her eyes. "I do believe I understood that from the moment you beat me to the ground with a stick." I still had that stick somewhere in my Infinity Space. Maybe I should bring it out whenever we fight next?
"Ah, good times." I said as I leaned back. Hinata shot me the middle finger, making me laugh. It seems her old Japanese politeness had faded quite a bit. Japanese people were all about manners. The culture emphasizes harmony, cooperation, and respect for authority, which worked for them.
"I won't lie and say I like it." She admitted. "The idea of sharing someone I care about… it was never something I expected in my life. Though I never expected something like this in the first place." She said honestly.
"That's fair." I nodded, allowing her the space to speak her mind. While polygamy was normal in this world among those with influence, I could still respect Hinata's hesitance to partake in something like that.
"When I came to this goal and developed my dream, I never considered any sort of companionship that would be lasting as possible. And it wouldn't have been if I hadn't been forced to confront some things after I was sent to the past with Chloe." She said honestly. "And with my history, I never thought I was worthy of such a thing either." She added.
"But," She continued, her voice softer. "I can't say I dislike you either. I think I would dislike it more if I were to allow any obstacles to get in the way at this point."
That caught my attention.
A smirk tugged at my lips. "Is that so?"
"Don't let it go to your head." She warned, pointing a finger at me.
"Me? I'd never." I said dramatically before I leaned forwards. "I don't need an answer now, Hinata. This is your choice, and I don't want you to feel forced into anything. I care about you, and I want you to be happy, whether that's with me or not."
Despite everything, I didn't want to become the kind of person who stopped caring for their close ones, the kind of person that prioritized themselves over everything that also mattered. I may be selfish, but that selfishness was balanced out by my other, more positive traits.
Hinata's eyes widened slightly before she looked to the side, a blush covering her cheeks. She quickly picked up her glass, taking a sip to hide her expression. Once she put it back down, she had regained her control.
I watched as she composed herself; a small smirk still tugging at the corners of my lips. Seeing Hinata embarrassed was always a treat. She was just so adorable about it, though her teaseability had gone down ever since she returned from the past as she had grown up a bit, making moments like this rare.
She cleared her throat. "I appreciate that, Felix."
I leaned back, giving her space. "No rush, I meant what I said."

Author's Note:
Sup everyone, back with another chapter of Daemon. Couldn't find a decent place to put the Velzard pov, but I think it was needed to show just how messed up in the head she is. She's more schizo than I thought, the latest volume made me change some things since I didn't know she was that far gone haha. So that pov is meant to make you guys see just how batshit she is as I didn't properly convry that in the prior povs.
Yeah… Velzard is a total schizo, go figure.
This chapter was a bit more chill seeing as it was the date with Hinata. Let me know what you all thought of it, it was only the first one so it was a bit slow. There will be more likely off screen, just as Felix has dates with others off screen as well.
Hopefully the talk between Hinata and Felix came off as pretty natural, they both had some valid concerns so it was spoken about a bit. Let me know what you all think!
Anyways, thanks for reading. Peace!
Thanks to @Salante and @Flowerman for beta'ing this chapter.
