As soon as Malekith and the Dark Elves sensed a change in their surroundings, a sense of foreboding washed over them. However, neither Malekith nor the Dark Elves had time to react. With their weakened powers, the Dark Elves were no match for the vampires and werewolves, especially since there was a powerful leader among the werewolves, the Night Wolf. Without Algrim or Kurse to defend them, no Dark Elf could withstand the onslaught of the Night Wolf.
Thus, for the remaining Dark Elves, a bloody massacre began—an extinction-level event. Although the Dark Elves had survived many such ordeals in their history, this was undoubtedly their gravest crisis yet, a catastrophic event without any chance of resistance.
As for their leader, Malekith, he was in no position to save his few remaining kinsmen. His own situation was far worse. Malekith now faced a furious Hulk, a Hulk more enraged than ever before, having lost all reason. A rampaging Hulk was terrifying beyond imagination, and Malekith, without the benefit of the dark environment to bolster his strength, stood no chance against him.
Especially at this moment, the confrontation between Hulk and Malekith had devolved into a brutal contest of raw vitality. Any weakening was fatal in such a scenario, and Malekith had suffered a significant decline in strength.
With a sickening tear, Hulk ripped Malekith's body apart. In his frenzy, Hulk even began to bite into Malekith's body. Malekith, completely overpowered, had no chance to fight back. His strength was utterly dwarfed by Hulk's rage.
To make matters worse, Malekith's death preceded the complete annihilation of the Dark Elves. While some of the Dark Elves were still alive, their leader was already dead, and it was only a matter of time before the rest of them followed him to oblivion.
"Leader!" The only one among the Dark Elves still capable of fighting was Algrim. Though he had also been empowered by the dark environment, his natural strength was still considerable. Even without the dark powers, Algrim remained stronger than Kara.
However, brute strength alone was not enough. Kara had no intention of engaging Algrim in direct combat. She faithfully followed the strategy given to her by Robert, using her freezing breath to continuously restrict Algrim's movements. With Algrim's strength also diminished, her freezing breath became even more effective.
Thus, despite Algrim's cries of despair, he could do nothing to change the outcome of the battle. He had never imagined this scenario when he became the Cursed Warrior. Algrim had been prepared to sacrifice everything to restore the Dark Elves to their former glory.
Yet now, as he, the Cursed Warrior, continued to fight on, his entire race had already been wiped out. What meaning was there left for Algrim to continue his battle?
When Algrim looked around and realized that no other Dark Elf remained, despair fully engulfed him. He felt not only physical but also profound emotional exhaustion.
The loss of so much life force was something most could not imagine. It was a constant burden on the body. Since acquiring the power of the Reality Stone fragment, Algrim had been cursed, his body perpetually suffering from the effects of that curse.
But now, none of it seemed to matter to Algrim anymore—not the pain in his body, not the ache in his soul. The greatest sorrow is the death of the spirit, and Algrim was already in that state of numbness.
"Hmph!" Kara, for her part, felt no sympathy for Algrim's despair. After all, the Dark Elves were invaders. Why should she feel pity for invaders? Kara unleashed her freezing breath once again, freezing Algrim on the spot.
In theory, Algrim could still break free from the icy prison once more, but he made no attempt to move. He simply stood there, letting the ice freeze his body, his consciousness, and finally, his life.
And so, even though the crisis initiated by the Dark Elves was not yet fully resolved, the Dark Elves themselves were no more. One can only wonder if Malekith would have chosen to launch this invasion of Earth had he known that it would end with the destruction of his entire race.
It was clear that the Dark Elves had overestimated their own strength. Their hasty invasion had only served as a pawn in the schemes of Tara from the Dark Dimension. Otherwise, though the Dark Elves might not have thrived, they could have at least survived.
"Now, it's your turn!" Robert smirked coldly as he turned his attention to Tara, General Manny, and General Razzo.
"Hah! Do you think you've won?" Tara's eyes gleamed with a dangerous light. Though the fading darkness had slightly weakened them, Tara still believed they had a chance, especially since she was still stronger than Robert at this moment.
If not for Susan Stone's interference, Robert would never have had the chance to kill General Cabo. Cabo's death, however, indicated that if Tara couldn't suppress Robert entirely, both General Manny and General Razzo would soon fall at his hands.
So, even though Tara continued to talk tough, both Manny and Razzo were filled with fear.
Before, they had only heard Robert speak of killing many of the Shadow Legion's generals, but now that they had witnessed Cabo's death firsthand, they knew he hadn't been lying. Manny and Razzo were now too frightened to even meet Robert's gaze.
In an instant, Robert disappeared again. This time, Tara was quick to respond. As soon as Robert vanished, she enveloped Manny and Razzo with her psychic powers, shielding them from Robert's attack.
She had no choice but to protect them. With the Dark Elves dead, Tara was desperate not to follow in their footsteps. She didn't want to be left alone, the last survivor of a failed invasion.
Even though she could command the full might of the Shadow Legion if Manny and Razzo died, the soldiers of the Shadow Legion were not true high-level beings. They were mere expendable entities formed from the lowest-level energies of the Dark Dimension. To Tara, they weren't even true lifeforms, not worthy of individual names.
Therefore, as long as she could, Tara would do everything in her power to keep Manny and Razzo alive. She silently prayed for the Dark Dimension to send reinforcements strong enough to turn the tide of battle.
After all, the power the Dark Dimension had granted them so far was only a fraction of its true might. However, the Dark Dimension had stopped pushing its influence into Earth as the darkness there faded.
For the Dark Dimension, an Earth steeped in darkness would have been much easier to invade, and it could have been absorbed into the Dark Dimension entirely. But now that Earth had returned to normal, not only was the invasion more difficult, but the potential rewards were also diminished. Furthermore, with the darkness on Earth disappearing, the Dark Dimension's presence had been exposed to many other dimensions.
Though the Dark Dimension was undoubtedly one of the strongest, it was not invincible, especially with so many dimensions watching.
