Chapter 2 - Chapter 2 - Information Panel

Kotaro stared at the system interface before her, a semi-transparent screen that appeared pinkish in color— the oddest part about it was the fact that it didn't appear in her eyes.

It was in her head, and closing her eyes did not limit her view of it— it simply appeared as if it was in her mind's eye.

It was odd— but so was the entire situation, so she quickly got over it.

The system itself was separated into three sections; the first section was the Information Panel, which showed all her current stats, abilities, talents, and all other vital information about herself.

The second section was the Questing Panel, which showed her possible Quests she could accept and how many points she had earned and stored from completing these quests.

And lastly, perhaps the most important section of the system is the Customization Panel. This Panel allowed her to do the customizations she wanted using the Quest Points she had earned.

What does this mean? She wasn't entirely sure, but she had gained some information in her mind the second the system appeared.

To put it into simple terms for herself to understand— earning points by completing quests would allow her to use those points to customize herself, be it physically or otherwise.

Depending on the customization she wishes to do, it would take more or less points. Naturally, things deemed more important by the system would be worth more points.

As for how she earned points— it was self-explanatory.

She had to complete quests assigned by the system, and in exchange for accomplishing those quests, the system would reward her with a number of points that it deemed worthy.

Thankfully, the system didn't have any consciousness, quirky attitude, or other terrible attributes she had seen from other systems in stories she had read.

That made the system valid in her eyes.

Furthermore— the system would never force her to do a quest and would never punish her for failing one.

The system simply listens to her needs, wants, or things going around her and turns them into quests she could do if she so pleases. It is nothing forced upon her— instead, it is things she already planned or otherwise might get involved with.

And there was no punishment because she would face the natural fallout of her own failure if she ever failed a quest— the system didn't need to do some extra unnecessary punishment.

But that was beside the point— Kotaro liked the way the system was set up, and she was pleased with the abilities it granted her. She knew that if she used it right, she could develop greatly.

It may be a challenging path to walk— daunting to her at the very thought of it— but she was filled with determination to walk it and even reach the top of it.

This new life was granted to her for whatever reason— and while she may not know why or how— she would make the most of it. She would be more than just average this time around.

And it all begins with the Information Panel.

'Information Panel.'

She thought in her mind, and within an instant, the screen before she changed into another similar one— this time. However, it held a long list of information, numbers, and more on it.

The Panel was detailed where it needed to be, but also not overly detailed that it was hard to maneuver around.

The first thing Kotaro did was scan the information from top to bottom, starting with her name.

Kotaro Aburame— she already knew it, but seeing it stung a little. Kotaro was not a girl's name, at least not commonly. It was a name that was used for firstborn sons; she knew this, thanks to the memories she gained upon arriving here.

She also knew that she got this name because her parents wanted a boy— they were expecting a boy— but instead, they got here. They died before they could properly name her or even spend time with her, which left the Orphanage with the only name they had in mind.

That was how she ended up with her boyish name— and it was also the reason she was often teased by the other kids at the Orphanage or in town.

The second thing that stood out was her race. It was human, as she would have expected, but there was a number next to it. A percentage that didn't really make sense to her.

'Is it saying I'm not entirely human? Could it be because of Chakra? Or the Clan's Bloodline?'

There was a list of possible reasons why the information panel could have stated that, but she wasn't exactly sure as to the exact one, so she decided not to overthink it for now.

There was little she could do after all.

The next piece of information that was vital to her was her stats— and honestly, it was terrible.

It was probably some of the worst stats in the village for children her age— aside from those that were physically or otherwise impaired in some way, which said a lot about her body.
