As the Lion King led his officials in a meeting, the Sheep Clan Chief, Maler, was leisurely lying at home, sipping tea, and quietly waiting for his clansmen to prepare everything.
For the past two days, the Sheep Clan had gone to great lengths to ensure Fang Wuwei's successful escape. This was their first encounter with an outsider, a human they could communicate with, and they had to consider if this was their only chance.
But soon, a piece of news shattered Maler's leisurely time and his future fantasies...
"What?! The Lion King released that human? And they're holding a meeting together?!"
Maler scrambled up from his lounge chair, the tea in his cup sloshing over and spilling onto his hand. But Maler felt nothing; he only felt a chilling sensation in his heart.
"Absolutely true, Chief!"
Strangely, the beastman kneeling on the ground delivering the message was not from the Sheep Clan, but from the Bird Clan—these guys were even more secretive. "And at the meeting, the Lion King personally admitted that the human is the Savior mentioned by the Great Priest! They have already reached a mutual assistance agreement: the tribe will provide assistance to the Savior, and the Savior will help the tribe escape the demon's control!"
"Nonsense!" Maler's face turned grim and pale. He smashed his teacup to the ground, splashing tea everywhere. His hands trembled slightly, and his voice quavered, "I've said it before, the only way for us to survive is to submit to the demons! How can that Savior, who was frozen solid when he arrived, possibly resist that terrifying existence in the nine heavens?!"
The room fell silent. The Birdman messenger dared not speak, and Maler remained quiet.
Until the outer door was pushed open, and a younger Sheep Clan middle-aged man hurriedly opened the door: "Father! What's wrong?!"
"Gain." Maler's face was gloomy as he looked at his son. He finally made a decision in his heart: he absolutely could not survive the present, and the Lion King was so powerful that resistance was impossible. "The plan has changed. Take the clansmen and escape! As many as you can!"
"I'm afraid you won't have the chance."
Just as Gain was about to ask what happened, a low, mature female voice sounded from above their heads. The three people in the room were startled, and an ominous premonition rose in their hearts. Looking up, they saw a young female lioness perched on the rafters, dressed in a tight suit, holding a dagger. She was clearly an assassin. "The Chief's troops have already arrived. I'm afraid the outside is already controlled. You have nowhere to run, Chief Maler, and... the Birdmen."
"No!" The Birdman hurriedly spoke. Even if he died, his clansmen had to live. They were so deeply hidden and hadn't openly surrendered like the Sheep Clan. "Joining the Sheep Clan was my personal will! It has nothing to do with the Birdman Clan!"
"You'd better hope so."
After saying this, the assassin lioness leaped down with her dagger, the blade pointing directly at Chief Maler. Her speed was so fast that even the Birdman Clan, known for their speed, only saw a yellow afterimage.
However, the rapidly approaching assassin was easily stopped by Chief Maler, suspended in mid-air, unable to move.
Chief Maler had, at some unknown point, produced a staff. Within the staff, countless purple streams of light shimmered and danced. The same streams of light also appeared around Chief Maler, swirling around him, protecting him.
"Little one, it's not that easy to kill me." Chief Maler's rectangular eyes glowed purple, and the magic in his hand grew stronger. The assassin, who was already unable to move, was squeezed, letting out a pained groan.
Hearing the faint screams of his clansmen from outside the door, the Chief knew that his people could not be taken away now. A sharp pain pierced Maler's heart. He had only wanted to lead the Sheep Clan to survive, that was all!
"Gain! Come quickly! Let's go!"
He increased the magic output of the control spell in his hand, crushing the assassin lioness to death. A huge magic array appeared beneath Maler's feet, and he called out to his beloved son.
"Maler!!!!" The door was broken open. How could the Lion King, personally leading his clansmen to capture the Sheep Clan in Maler's territory, fail? How could he tolerate failure?
"Chief Smos, one day, I will return!! By then, you will understand why I said that surrendering to the demons is the only way to survive!!!"
A blinding light erupted from the magic array beneath Maler's feet, obscuring the vision of the Lion King and others. Although their vision quickly returned, Maler and his son had already disappeared.
The Lion King's face darkened. For the dignified Lion King to personally lead an expedition only to have his main target escape, where would he put his face?
But thankfully, there was still some Gain.
The Lion King thought to himself as he looked at the trembling Birdman messenger at his feet.
"I said we should have wiped them out back then!"
A werewolf, the Werewolf Clan Chief Ensi, who had clashed with Chief Maler at the first meeting, burst in from the side. He was covered in blood but his face was full of excitement. Clearly, killing sheep was ingrained in his genes and the best way to make him excited.
And following behind the werewolf was Fang Wuwei.
He had only come to join the fun and see what was up with this traitor, but he didn't expect him to run so decisively.
He still had some words he wanted to say to him, words that would have been truly cutting, but it was a pity.
"Sir." The Lion King spoke to Fang Wuwei, his tone filled with coldness, but his face was also etched with exhaustion. Dealing with Maler's escape and how to appease the Sheep Clan civilians were terribly troublesome problems. "According to intelligence, the Sheep Clan's treasury is beneath this house. Please help yourself. Ensi, take the Sir over."
He had no mind for the treasury now. He picked up the lioness's corpse, clutched the Birdman's neck with one hand, and silently walked out.
"Woohoo~~~~ Hahahahaha, Sir, please follow me."
The Werewolf Ensi let out a long howl. He had long coveted the Sheep Clan's treasury because it contained a portion of the Werewolf Clan's treasures, and he had long wanted to retrieve them.
Ensi punched the ground, shattering the floor and creating another small pit. Ensi locked onto his target, lifted that section of the floor, revealing a passage leading underground.
"Sir, you know, originally I didn't approve of you, but now that you've identified the Sheep Clan, I now feel that you must be the true Savior."
As the two walked into the underground treasury, the Werewolf Ensi put his hand on Fang Wuwei's shoulder and spoke in a joyful tone, clearly very excited.
If the werewolf was excited, how could Fang Wuwei not be excited?
The Sheep Clan's treasury, huh? There must be many good things inside. He had seen Chief Maler's strength. If that old geezer was so strong, what if he got some secret treasures suitable for him? Wouldn't he take off like a rocket and then go out and crush those Reincarnators?
