Chapter 167 - Chapter 167: The Awesome Defense System

Chapter 167: The Awesome Defense System

[50 system points deducted. You now have 30 remaining. Nuwa Headquarters, Level 1 Security Defense System upgrade plan has been loaded, ] the system droned on.

Zhang Yang's mind went blank as a flood of information suddenly appeared in his head.

Clearly, those 50 points had a huge effect—the data swirled through his mind like a storm.

There was so much information that it took him over ten minutes to fully digest it, and once he did, he couldn't help but curse.

"Damn scammer! Screw you, stupid system."

The plan was impressive, sure—but this was clearly the system digging a trap for him!

"Carbon Nanowall!" "Short-Range Laser Defense System!" "Magic Eagle Eye Surveillance System!"

According to the plan, the building's exterior didn't need much change—just an additional wall around the perimeter. But the real core was in those concept-level defense systems.

The problem was—where the hell was he supposed to find that stuff? Nanowalls? Short-range laser defense systems? Magic Eagle Eye Surveillance? What the hell, you think this is Taobao? Just click and buy?

Zhang Yang was speechless. These things didn't even exist in the real world—how the hell was he supposed to build them? Weren't those 50 points just wasted? Damn it!

And what the hell was this Level 1 Security Defense System anyway? He immediately summoned the System Assistant and asked:

"What is a Level 1 Security Defense System? What does Level 1 even mean?"

The system answered smoothly, [A Level 1 Security Defense System means it can withstand attacks from standard conventional weapons and protect Nuwa Headquarters from harm.]

Zhang Yang rolled his eyes. Conventional weapons? Damn, Level 1 already sounded overpowered.

Withstand standard conventional weapons? Did that mean even sniper rifles and RPGs?

As that thought crossed his mind, the system explained, [Correct. Standard conventional weapons include assault rifles, sniper rifles, heavy machine guns, RPGs, grenades, and other short-range low-impact weapons.]

[Supersonic missiles and heavy equipment like tanks require Level 2 to resist.]

[Level 3 covers ballistic missiles, tactical missiles, and infrasonic weapons…]

[Level 4 can defend against kinetic and biochemical weapons…]

[The highest, Level 5, can defend against… weather weapons… nuclear explosions… neutron…]

Zhang Yang rolled his eyes again. He wasn't trying to start a war—Level 1 was already overkill! Why make it sound so godlike?

Just this first level had cost him 50 points. That felt like a total rip-off.

But now it was too late to regret it. The plan was already downloaded.

The points were gone, so he could only suck it up. Fortunately, the renovation plan still had some parts he could implement immediately.

Some building modifications could be carried out right away.

And since Nuwa Company's factory construction had already begun, there were building contractors available. He could ask Lu Su's father, Zhou Lunfa, to handle the upgrades together.

Even if the conceptual stuff was out of reach, he could still start with the foundation!

Still, he was curious. Since the system provided those components, there had to be a way to make them work. The system probably had answers.

As long as points could solve it, Zhang Yang didn't care for now—he still had 30 left.

"How do I make the Nanowall?" Zhang Yang asked tentatively.

The System Assistant replied quickly, [Answering this question requires 80 system points. You currently lack sufficient points.]

Zhang Yang rolled his eyes again and asked, "Then how do I create the Short-Range Laser Defense System?"

The reply came even faster: [Answering this question requires 80 system points. You currently lack sufficient points.]

"Damn it! What about the Magic Eagle Eye Surveillance System?" Zhang Yang nearly lost it. Not enough points for anything? What the hell's the point of this system then?

The System Assistant went silent for a while, probably sulking.

Just as Zhang Yang was about to explode again, the system's voice returned: [Answering this question requires 10 system points…]

"10 points?" Zhang Yang's eyes lit up. He'd been expecting another 80-pointer. Only 10 points? That was doable! Still, he wanted to make sure it was worth it—he only had 30 points left.

He quickly asked, "What's the main function of the Magic Eagle Eye Surveillance System?"

If the system gave some trash answer, he'd lose it.

[The Magic Eagle Eye Surveillance System utilizes the Magic Eagle Eye core combined with intelligent infrared HD cameras to monitor any suspicious individual or threat entering the secure area, automatically classifying the danger level and issuing warnings.]

Zhang Yang nodded. So basically, an intelligent monitoring system—except it didn't need human supervision. It ran itself. Infrared HD cameras already existed, but automatic threat recognition? That was the real selling point.

Even people couldn't easily identify threats from surveillance feeds, let alone a machine.

Still, Zhang Yang grew excited. Just 10 points for a world-first AI surveillance system? Worth it!

Hell yes!

Without hesitation, Zhang Yang spent the 10 points—then immediately regretted it. What if this was another trap?

[10 system points deducted. You now have 20 remaining. Magic Eagle Eye Surveillance System loaded…]

"Please, don't screw me over again," Zhang Yang muttered in prayer.

A moment later, the system finished loading, and his head was filled with more data.

"You've got to be kidding me…" Zhang Yang jumped up from his bed. This system was complicated as hell. The hardware part—the infrared HD cameras—was fine. He could just modify existing ones. But the software part? That was a nightmare.

He understood the basic principles, but developing something like that required a massive software system!

Sure, he was an Advanced Hacker now—but hacking wasn't software engineering. This would take a computing genius.

Damn, looks like I'll need to complete an M-level mission or earn another 50 system points to get an Advanced Programmer skill next.

He sighed and got ready for bed. Even if it was a bit of a scam, this one was still doable—with the right computer genius.

Just as he pulled the blanket over himself, a name popped into his head.

His sister-in-law—Xu Danying.

That classical beauty was studying quantum computing, and her academic results were said to be incredible. Perfect resource, wasn't it?

He even had her QQ contact. Zhang Yang's heart started racing.

If your sister-in-law doesn't help you, who will?

Heh, if she helped him build the software, and he handled the infrared camera modifications, the Magic Eagle Eye Surveillance System would be as good as done.

Once it was finished, the Level 1 Defense System would finally have its first major piece. If anyone dared to invade the villa, this system would detect it immediately. Unless the attackers launched a massive, open assault, no one could get past the first line of defense.

He checked the time—it was already past 8 a.m. Maybe because of all the new data in his head, but after a sleepless night, Zhang Yang still couldn't fall asleep.

Since he was awake anyway, he figured Xu Danying was probably up too. He turned on his computer and logged into Penguin. The girl used the iPhone he'd given her for QQ, so she should be easy to reach.

He tilted his head, thinking. Wait, what was her QQ number again?

Ever since developing Primary Brain Domain Development, his memory had improved a lot. He remembered three numbers—but couldn't recall which was hers.

He added one at random. The nickname was "Little Angel Fairy." The user required a verification message. That nickname did sound like Xu Danying's gentle, classical vibe—had to be her, right?

Zhang Yang thought for a moment. One of the three might belong to Xia Weiwei, and he really didn't want to deal with her. So he decided to check all three nicknames first.

One was Little Angel Fairy, one was Tongtong, and one was Cold-Faced Lady. All their spaces were locked. He could've hacked them easily to confirm, but he didn't feel like it.

Just thinking about Xia Weiwei's sour face made it obvious—Cold-Faced Lady, of course!

So he added Little Angel Fairy and Tongtong as friends, with the request message:

Should he write "Brother-in-law"? Or "Zhang Yang"?

He decided "Brother-in-law" sounded too sleazy and just wrote "Zhang Yang."

He checked again—both were online. They should reply soon.

Sure enough, Tongtong quickly accepted and sent a smiling emoji.

"Morning, brother-in-law!"

But Little Angel Fairy rejected the request?!

Zhang Yang froze. Was that Xia Weiwei?

Or had his sister-in-law just forgotten who he was? That didn't seem right.
