Shell Clash and Legendary Reveal
The stadium atmosphere was electric. Ash held a 2-1 lead, but Lorelei was far from defeated. The rain from Blastoise's earlier Rain Dance had lightened into a soft drizzle, making the battlefield slick and reflective under the bright lights.
Lorelei's expression had grown more serious. She recalled her battered Wigglytuff and sent out her next Pokémon.
"Cloyster! Protect our pride!"
A massive, heavily armored Cloyster appeared, its spiked shell clamped shut, radiating a dangerous icy aura.
Ash smiled confidently and tossed his Poké Ball.
"Cloyster! Let's go!"
His own Cloyster materialized with a powerful cry, its dark shell gleaming. Both Cloysters faced each other mirror images of spiked armor and ice power.
The crowd went wild at the mirror match.
"Begin!" the referee shouted.
The battle exploded instantly.
Both trainers commanded at the same time:
"Ice Beam!"
"Spike Cannon!"
Twin beams of freezing energy collided in the center of the field while sharp spikes shot from both shells. The resulting explosion of ice shards and water created a chaotic, beautiful spectacle.
Ash's Cloyster had Skill Link, allowing it to fire multiple Spike Cannons in rapid succession. It unleashed a relentless barrage, forcing Lorelei's Cloyster to retreat behind its shell.
Lorelei countered aggressively. "Withdraw and use Aurora Beam from cover!"
Her Cloyster clamped shut and fired a multicolored beam from between the spikes. Ash's Cloyster dodged with surprising speed thanks to its Overcoat ability, which protected it from weather effects and gave it better mobility in the damp conditions.
The two armored Pokémon clashed brutally. They used every tool in their arsenal Ice Shard for quick strikes, Water Gun to push each other back, and powerful physical slams using their heavy shells.
It was a tough, high-intensity battle. Both Cloysters were evenly matched in power and defense. The field became littered with broken ice spikes and shattered shell fragments.
Ash called out, "Cloyster, use Ice Beam at full power!"
Lorelei responded instantly, "Meet it head-on with Hydro Pump!"
The two powerful moves collided in a massive explosion of ice and water that shook the entire stadium. When the mist cleared, both Cloysters were heavily damaged, breathing hard, and covered in frost.
They charged at each other one final time shells glowing with icy energy.
BOOM!
A devastating double collision occurred. Both Cloysters slammed into each other with everything they had.
When the dust settled… both Pokémon collapsed at the same time, eyes spiraling.
"Both Cloysters are unable to battle! It's a double knockout!" the referee announced.
The crowd roared in amazement at the intense, evenly-matched fight.
Lorelei's hands clenched at her sides. Her composure was starting to crack. She had expected to dominate with her experience, but Ash was matching her move for move and even forcing draws.
Ash still held the upper hand with three Pokémon remaining to her three.
Lorelei recalled her Cloyster, her usual elegant smile gone. Frustration was clearly visible on her face.
Ash sent out his next Pokémon.
"Steelix! Your turn!"
The massive Alpha Steelix emerged with a ground-shaking roar, its metallic body gleaming. The High-Quality Metal Coat integrated into its body during evolution gave it an even more imposing, armored appearance.
Lorelei sent out her next fighter.
"Jynx! Freeze them solid!"
The elegant Psychic/Ice-type appeared, striking a graceful pose before preparing for battle.
But the mismatch was obvious.
Ash gave the command calmly. "Steelix, Stealth Rock first."
Steelix slammed its tail into the ground, setting up sharp floating rocks around the field that would damage anything Lorelei switched in later.
Then the real beatdown began.
"Steelix, Thunder Fang!"
Steelix's jaws crackled with electricity as it lunged forward with surprising speed for its size. Jynx tried to dodge with Lovely Kiss and Psychic, but Steelix's Sturdy ability and raw power made it incredibly difficult to stop.
Ash chained commands perfectly: "Iron Tail! Fire Fang! Double Edge!"
Steelix dominated the match. Its Steel-type moves were boosted significantly by the Metal Coat, and its hidden ability Metal Body kept raising its Special Defense every time it used a Steel move.
Jynx landed a few solid Ice Punches and Psychic blasts, but they barely scratched the massive Steelix.
With one final, devastating Double Edge, Steelix slammed into Jynx, sending it crashing to the ground.
"Jynx is unable to battle!"
The score was now 4-1 in Ash's favor.
Lorelei's face was visibly frustrated. Her usual cool and elegant demeanor was cracking. She clenched her fists tightly, her breathing heavier than before.
How…? How is this boy still ahead?
She recalled Jynx and looked at her last healthy Pokémon the heavily damaged Wigglytuff from earlier.
With visible irritation, she sent it out anyway.
"Wigglytuff… one more time!"
The exhausted Wigglytuff appeared, barely able to stand, its body swaying from the damage Jigglypuff had dealt earlier.
Ash didn't even need to switch.
"Steelix, finish it with Iron Tail."
Steelix swung its massive steel tail in a powerful arc. The already worn-out Wigglytuff tried to use Hyper Voice one last time, but the Iron Tail connected cleanly.
Wigglytuff collapsed instantly.
"Wigglytuff is unable to battle!"
The crowd cheered loudly. Ash now led 5-1.
Lorelei's frustration had reached its peak. Her elegant composure had almost completely shattered. Her hands were shaking slightly, and her usual graceful smile was replaced by a tight, irritated expression.
She took a deep breath, trying to regain control.
Then, with a determined look, she reached for the Ultra Ball hanging from a necklace around her neck.
The entire stadium fell into a stunned silence as she tossed it high into the air.
"Come forth… Articuno!"
A brilliant flash of light erupted. From the Ultra Ball emerged a majestic legendary bird Articuno. Its beautiful blue-and-white feathers shimmered like frozen starlight. The legendary bird of ice spread its massive wings, filling the stadium with an overwhelming cold aura.
The crowd gasped in shock.
"Articuno?! Lorelei has her own Articuno?!"
"Two legendaries in one battle?!"
"This is insane!"
Everyone knew Ash had legendary Pokémon, but seeing Lorelei reveal her own Articuno caught the entire stadium off guard.
Ash, however, didn't look surprised. A competitive glint appeared in his eyes as he stared at the legendary bird.
Steelix stood tall on the field, ready for the ultimate challenge.
The final battle of the first Elite Four match was about to begin.
