The technomancers hitch a free ride on the cruise ship. Over the course of the next three days they get to look at various islands and coral reefs.
Joe-"You know guys, I just realized something"
Julius-"What is it?"
Joe-"Has anyone, told us where the cruise is going?"
Damion-"Well I assume it's going to multiple places"
Joe-"Yeah but like, at the end. We don't even know if this cruise is going to the northern or southern continent"
Marigold-"Well based on the flag I assume southern continent"
Joe looks up at the flag of the ship.
Marigold-"That flag belongs to the kingdom of Eason. Which is located on the Western coast of the Southern continent"
Julius-"You'd think a kingdom called Eason would be on the eastern coast"
Adam-"Why would that be?"
Julius-"You know, the name?"
Voice-"Remember it's being translated. Their word for East doesn't sound similar to the name Eason"
Julius(in his head)-"Could have told me that a second ago"
Julius-"Nevermind"
Voice-"It's never mind. You spelled it wrong in your head"
Julius(in his head)-"I hate you"
Joe-"Well Eason will probably be where the ship goes to at the end. But where is the next stop?"
Elise-"I'll go ask"
Elise walks up to one of the workers on the boat.
Elise-"Excuse me"
Boat worker-" Yes ma'am?"
Elise-"Where is the next stop for the cruise?"
Boat worker-"We'll actually be arriving there in a couple hours. The destination is Yiltama"
Elise-"Thank you"
Elise walks back to the group.
Adam-"So where is it going?"
Elise-"I don't know, some place called Yiltama"
Marigold(surprised)-"We're going to Yiltama?"
Elise-"Yeah. What is it?
Adam-"You seriously forgot about Yiltama?"
Elise-"Is it popular?"
Marigold-"It's the birthplace of the beastfolk! And one of the four major landmasses along with the northern and southern continents plus the Kaiju Archipelago"
Elise-"Oh yeah! I think you've mentioned it before"
Joe-"She shouldn't need to mention it, it's basic geography"
Julius-"So all of the Beastfolk originated from there?"
Marigold-"Yes, but I haven't been there in a very long time. Last I was there I was just a kid"
Damion-"That dragon prince is there right?"
Adam-"You mean Archimedes? His family is the royal family of Yiltama"
Marigold-"The nobility are all mystical beastfolk such as manticore beastfolk and wyvern beastfolk. The dragon beastfolk are the royals. Archimede's father is the reining king right now"
Julius-"I wonder how the beastfolk evolved"
Julius(in his head)-"Was that an insensitive question?"
Marigold-"From the stories my parent's told me, the beast folk first appeared around eight hundred years ago"
Julius-"Wait, only eight hundred?"
Marigold-"Yes, it is believed that we were created by the earth after the defeat of the last demon lord. With the demon lord no longer posing a threat to the ecosystem, magic overflowed into a process known as the Great Chimerism. The first to appear were the mystical beastfolk, and after another century beastfolk with the traits of non-mystical creatures like myself appeared"
Julius-"The great Chimerism? So beastfolk just appeared one day?"
Marigold-"Yes, magic tries to maintain a balance. Normally magic increases the fertility rate after a demon lord's massacre on the world. However Adam had destroyed the demon lord quickly so the population didn't drop. All that excess fertility magic flowed into the island of Yiltama and created the beastfolk"
Julius-"Fascinating. So even though there wasn't a huge population decline the world still tried to increase population? It must be an automatic process that occurs every one thousand years. I wonder if it will happen again after the next demon lord is defeated"
Joe-"So you haven't been there since you were a kid? Are you excited to go back?"
Marigold-"Well... yeah. I am a little worried now though"
Joe-"Why's that?"
Marigold-"Well when I was little, the reason my parent's left with me was because they said it was dangerous. They talked about how the royal family didn't have much influence anymore"
Elise-"There's no way the royal family doesn't have much influence with a prince that strong"
Julius-"I'm sure whatever problem was happening before has been cleared up. Maybe some coup was about to happen but it got stopped"
Marigold-"Hopefully it's alright there now"
Joe-"It doesn't matter if anything is wrong. We're strong enough now to solve any problems we come across"
Julius-"You can't solve everything with raw power"
Elise-"It seemed to work out pretty well for Atlas"
Julius-"Well raw power does still help"
Marigold-"I still remember, there was this one beautiful waterfall near where we used to live. I look forward to seeing it again"
