Third Person POV
Great Britain.
...
...
Severus floated calmly downward with eyes shining over the entire place, landing in the middle of the desert with clouds of dust spreading in all directions.
Beneath his feet there was only sand; the entire land had been consumed by the magical power he had released uncontrollably and turned into thousands of fragments, reverting to a sort of sand.
He seemed thoughtful, his eyes scanning the newly created desert. "I overdid it…" he murmured with some regret, after realizing that the entire region had been destroyed solely by his aura released at full force.
The power he had now was far too devastating. Not even most advanced technology weapons could do what he had done, and he had destroyed everything using only his willpower...
He had never heard of anything like that, not even in the magical records of this world, which he had been researching for over a year and a half; none had ever recorded anyone with such power. I mean… the most a wizard could do was start a forest fire or devastate part of an area with a forbidden spell like Fiendfyre — but not destroy kilometers and kilometers as he had done with his magical aura.
He sighed. He certainly needed to fix that. He thought about how he could reverse what he had just done. He closed his eyes and immediately connected with the world's own magic, a flow of energy that enveloped the entire planet and that he could now communicate with upon reaching such a magical level.
He no longer needed to cast spells like an ordinary wizard. Now he could simply converse with the magic itself and instruct it however he wished. This was his new magical threshold that no one had ever reached, which was why he had recognized it as a sort of god; he could shape magic however he wanted at this moment.
After opening his eyes, they glowed. Severus knew what to do.
He simply raised his staff before striking it against the ground, looking at all the debris falling in a heavy rain: stones, trees, water, destroyed houses, and everything that had existed in the region began plummeting from the sky.
And as soon as the staff touched the ground, a surge of energy burst from it, expanding in all directions, clearing all the smoke and dust clouds that surrounded the place, dissipating everything in an instant, while the ground began to tremble.
Quickly, all the objects falling from the sky began to be pulled downward with even more force — but now it was different. It was as if time were reversing. The ground began to change in the region, returning to its original state and the objects began falling into place in the exact order in which they had been torn away, starting with the layer of earth pulled up by the hurricane, even though it had been kilometers away falling in other regions. Everything began to return, one thing at a time, fitting back into its original place.
Then came the trees and the remaining objects.
Next, the entire region began to be restored. The forest rose again, the river water returned to its beds, and the destroyed houses had every piece of debris drawn back and repositioned, completely rebuilding the two villages of the region.
It took about ten minutes. Severus was once again levitating in the sky, watching the entire area being reconstructed as if nothing had happened. The sound of the ground trembling, the trees rearranging themselves, and the magical flow reverberating could be heard everywhere.
When it was finished, the entire region was restored once more. He let out a sigh, relieved that he had not destroyed everything to the point of becoming irreversible. He would hate to be the cause of such devastation just because he had let himself be carried away by his own power.
After the entire region had been reconstructed, Severus simply moved the staff to the side, sending another communication to the magic itself, and another spell was created and executed.
All the creatures and beings he had teleported — animals, insects, birds, and humans — who were kilometers away, still in chaos with everything they had witnessed, began to return to the forest and to the region. In the blink of an eye, they were all back in the village.
The explosion Severus had created had not gone unnoticed by all the humans, who watched everything from afar in pure terror, seeing the entire region fly across the skies kilometers away from them, then return flying back as if the Reparo spell had been cast, but on a scale that should have been impossible for all the wizard witnesses. Even the debris that had been coming toward them had stopped in midair before returning to its place of origin.
And now… there they were, once again in the same spot where they had been pulled by an unknown magic that could teleport a crowd of living beings in an instant. All the humans were looking toward the forests, the mountains, and the two villages as if nothing had happened. The sky shone with stars; there were no more dark clouds, no wind, no lightning, no visible flow of magical energy for all to see. It was as if the entire world had calmed. As if everything had gone back to normal, as if nothing they had seen had actually happened.
There were so many thoughts racing through the minds of the Aurors and the villagers that no one could speak. The chaos had vanished, giving way to serenity.
Dumbledore, however, among them, could not help but wonder where Severus was and what all of that had been.
"What… what happened?" someone finally asked, breaking the silence.
"This feels like a dream. How are we back here again? Where did all that destruction go?"
"It wasn't a dream. The entire city was breaking apart from that wind… and now it's as it was before. Everything seems to be in its place…" commented one of the villagers, completely shocked.
"Dumbledore, please tell us you know what just happened. What did we witness here tonight?" asked an Auror, desperate.
"I know as much as you, my friend. Whatever happened tonight… I am certain we will discover it soon."
He looked toward the area where the center of all the chaos had been — but there was nothing there anymore.
Until… a glow appeared above the village when a purple portal opened, swirling like a vortex of pure energy, with something emerging from it as the portal shaped itself around the body that stepped through.
Black robes with a cloak billowing in the wind.
A black staff with purple runes, its tip glowing intensely as if a crystal rested at the very end, held in his right hand.
And a face he knew well — but now, the eyes were no longer black or blue as they used to shine. They were pure purple, a gaze of sheer power.
"Severus…" Dumbledore murmured in astonishment and slight dread. That Severus was different from the man he had met thirteen days ago, after the events at Hogwarts.
Severus stared at them for a moment as he began to land. The Aurors immediately stepped back, raising their wands, while the citizens whispered, terrified at the sight of that man floating in the sky and descending calmly before them — like a god.
"By Merlin…" the others murmured as Severus touched the ground lightly, in front of the village, before sighing. He looked somewhat… regretful? Something many noticed right away.
"Hello everyone…" Severus said with an awkward smile.
"Severus… is it really you?" Dumbledore took a careful step forward and asked, full of suspicion and a certain fear in his voice.
"Yes, it's me, Dumbledore. If you want to know what happened here today… well, let's just say I overdid it a little, since I had to connect my magic with the magic of this world," he said.
'He said he overdid it…?' Dumbledore thought, his mind completely chaotic.
"Mr. Prince!" some Aurors murmured behind him, as Severus made his staff disappear — it shrank from both ends into his hand, until it became small enough to turn into a ring that wrapped around his finger. Dumbledore watched this with curiosity.
Whatever had happened to Severus in those ten days — since the house-elves had reported at Prince Manor that he had vanished — had definitely changed him. They said Severus mentioned he was going into a portal he needed to enter, but it seemed Severus wasn't even aware of how much time had passed while he was gone...
"Mr. Prince, my boy… could you tell me exactly what happened to you? You've been missing for ten days, and what happened tonight was terrifying. But at the same time, you reversed all the destruction you caused!" Dumbledore raised his voice, as the Aurors were still hesitant.
Severus was a hero in Great Britain now, but that didn't stop people from fearing the power he possessed. He was a wizard with a kind of dark magic they had never seen before, capable of summoning an army of undead monsters; even the feared Voldemort was a servant of his, and that night only proved that Severus could be far more powerful than a necromancer. Dumbledore was certain the region had been completely destroyed, but somehow Severus had brought it all back — and there was no dark magic in that. It was pure magic.
And as he had suspected that Severus might not be aware of the time that had passed, this proved true when Severus grimaced.
"Ten days…?" he let out. For Severus, only a few hours had passed, but the vision he had experienced could have placed him in a space where time did not exist. After all, he had spent hours watching that war… and apparently, far more time had passed in the real world. Perhaps his body needed that period to acquire that power.
In any case, Severus soon shifted from a surprised look to a tired one.
"I acquired new powers. That's the summary. And I needed to come into contact with this world's magic because, either way, I would collapse the moment I released my new magical signature… I just didn't imagine I would devastate the entire region… but I managed to restore it. At this moment, it's as if I can now talk to magic itself," Severus admitted.
Dumbledore became even more intrigued upon hearing this. As one of the most powerful wizards in the world — considered the greatest wizard of the century, until Severus appeared — he had never imagined hearing something like that, and his mind filled with thoughts upon hearing those words.
The term "talk to magic" had clearly left the white wizard fascinated. However, there were more urgent matters at the moment — and Severus did not seem aware of them.
"Severus, as surprised as I am by all this, we need to talk about what happened while you were gone," Dumbledore said in a more serious tone.
Severus merely narrowed his eyes, signaling for him to continue, and the white wizard proceeded: "The portal in Japan has collapsed. The entire country is devastated, Severus. Giants came out of it and are destroying everything."
Dumbledore spoke, and even the people around them shrank at hearing that.
Everyone was aware of what was happening in Japan. The entire world knew, because no one spoke of anything else except the destruction shown in newspapers and other magical and Muggle communication devices. This was because it didn't affect only the wizarding world — but also the Muggle one.
Reports said giants were devastating entire cities. Even wizards and Muggles had united to try to stop them, but it was useless; the giants were far too powerful.
The only person in the world who had stopped those creatures before was just one — and he had been absent.
Everyone searched for Severus across the globe during that period. Newspapers demanded that he appear to resolve the situation, or at least instruct them on how to destroy the giants. But all they received was silence.
Even Severus's fiancées had been harassed by reporters. The entire world was waiting for his return because only he had been dealing with these portals around the world.
Severus lifted his gaze. "What…?" he murmured.
Dumbledore tried to say something else, but he had no time.
Severus gave the wizard one last look, then vanished completely in a flash of purple light.
Dumbledore blinked — and Severus was no longer there.
Wherever he was now, he knew Severus was already preparing to go to Japan.
