Chapter 308 - Chapter 307 - Shadow Monarch vs Ice Monarch 01.

[Chapter Size: 2200 Words.]

Third Person POV

Great Britain.

...

...

It was with the power released by the Ice Monarch that the entire city was thrown into chaos, with the enormous ice explosion sweeping everything away, reaching even the shadows and destroying most of those that did not possess much resistance, along with the structures, since the wind was far worse than any other hurricane.

The city was consumed by white clouds and violent winds. On the outside, the military — mainly — were alert to anything that went out of control in the conflict and crossed the limits of London, having to act for any emergency... And it was at that moment that everyone saw the entire city explode inside that white storm. Everyone was terrified.

That was a blizzard.

The wind continued for some time, until a red energy began to erupt from within the freezing city. Severus used his magic while fighting against the storm, clashing head-on and even overpowering it with ease.

He heated the area with an area spell to warm the air, combating the blizzard, which began to diminish rapidly.

When things finally calmed down, everything was covered in snow, with some parts turning into water, thanks to his magic. Severus knew that the Ice Monarch was still nearby. And where the gigantic block of ice remained on the other side of the city, roars arose from that direction, even with the snow covering that area.

He looked at his shadows, which were beginning to regenerate, and advanced. The ice of the fallen comet was already cracking, while several creatures began to emerge. Severus had eliminated at least fifty thousand of them with the attacks directed at the comet since it appeared, but there were still about four hundred and fifty thousand left.

His current level exploded to level 314. He quickly opened the system, adding hundreds of points with the high score received from dozens of level ups. He distributed the attributes not only into magic, but into all parameters, knowing that this battle would not depend solely on magical strength.

He also began to clear that part of the blizzard, advancing with his staff forward. A wave of heat easily suppressed the entire white cloud, while a mass of monsters began to appear. Many were still emerging from the rupturing ice. Dragons, ice elves, golems, bears, and all kinds of creatures were there.

One of the dragons pointed at Severus and opened its mouth, firing a blast of white ice light. Severus struck the staff against the rooftop as he landed, creating a massive shield. The ice hit and exploded in all directions, but he endured it without much effort.

Igris, Bellion, and Beru were behind him. The other shadows began to advance. Severus then stopped when he saw Rosen, still with an injured hand, staring at him with fury after having been wounded and truly feeling that he could have lost his life.

"You surprised me, Moor," roared the Ice Monarch, as some ice mages appeared at his side and began to heal him with magical seals, restoring his body. Even so, Severus felt satisfied upon realizing that he did not possess a healing power of his own.

"Well, it seems you have your army now… or at least part of it," Severus said, as his shadows began to manifest behind him, releasing the other part of the army he had kept restrained.

"Well, you wiped out part of them, but that's only 1/10 of my strength... Don't get full of yourself. Your army is what? Four times smaller," the Ice Monarch mocked, seeing the number of monsters manifesting throughout the city behind Severus.

His ice monsters were also beginning to appear, positioning themselves behind the Ice Monarch as well.

Both Monarchs and their armies were now facing each other. Looking from above the city, it was a strange sight: on one side, a smaller group, like small black ants scattered across one side of a miniature city; on the other, a group four times larger, like white ants.

The entire city was bathed in snow, now without the storm.

"It seems the real battle is finally about to begin," Vujin's voice echoed as he hovered in the sky, floating, ignoring the helicopters and even the jets flying over the area. His eyes were fixed on the confrontation in London.

He continued observing for a while, until he raised his gaze to the sky.

"Let's move this along. I don't know what the outcome will be, but I'm counting on you, Severus." He paused.

"Liar, I do know the outcome." He laughed at his own joke, talking to himself. "Now, let's get ready because this is going to be a long day...", he said, before pointing upward. His eyes opened to something beyond the planet, something that was still coming toward it like the ice comet. However, as a golden line, it accelerated with force and began heading straight for planet Earth.

The image of that army was not restricted only to Steve Vujin's eyes. There were cameras on the helicopters, flying at a great distance from the English capital. After the comet had struck the city, there was no longer an immediate danger of being shot down in the air, so they gathered the courage to supervise and broadcast to the world what was happening. Televisions around the planet displayed the image of both sides about to fight.

In the village.

"That's what I saw," Astraea could not help but murmur, while her family watched her curiously in front of the muggle TV.

"What are you talking about, grandma?" Andromeda asked.

"When I met Lord Prince, when Bellatrix introduced him to me as Severus Snape at the time, I had no idea what he was in that moment. I thought he was just an arrogant half-blood, and I was arrogant beyond what would have been safe for my own good and for our family. So, as I am versed in Legilimency, I forced my way into his mind to uncover his secrets, since he had caused so many problems for pure-blood families... and to show that he could not be arrogant before the Black family. That was a mistake," she said, taking a small pause. Everyone watched in silence.

In that village house, even her husband, the former patriarch, was there, framed on the wall, knowing very well what she was talking about. After all, she had told him what she saw, and Astraea ran to him after leaving Severus.

"When I entered his mind, I saw only darkness. I realized it was an infinite abyss. I had never seen anything so deep, as if it had no end. Not even the most powerful dark wizards I had faced before possessed something like that. But a boy, as I thought at the time, had that within himself."

"Then the vision appeared to me. All of London being destroyed, monsters of all kinds battling each other."

She made the family shudder. Everyone fell silent upon hearing that, while Astra did not avert her gaze from the broadcast, realizing that the vision was real. She had seen the future.

Whatever had been revealed within Severus, he did not seem to be aware of it, unlike her.

London would be destroyed by that battle, there was no doubt about it. The question was whether the world would endure more conflicts like that.

Just like the Black family, everyone had their eyes on the TVs spread throughout the village houses.

Everyone was worried. Even outside the country, people watched on television or from a distance from the city the battle that was about to begin.

Severus was at the center of everything. He and the Ice Monarch faced each other. The Monarch opened a sadistic smile, confident that he would win. Severus kept a neutral and indifferent face, while his eyes gleamed and his cloak swayed in the wind.

There was no more conversation between the two. They were there only to destroy one another, whether because of past grudges or because both needed to decide who would win, who would survive, and who would keep that world.

"Attack." In the next moment, the Ice Monarch gave the order. At the same time, Severus raised his hand and pointed.

Both armies advanced against each other, running through the city streets or leaping over houses at absurd speed.

All creatures with long-range attacks began to fire. The winged creatures attacked from the sky, dragons unleashed their blasts, ice dragons responded, wizards transformed into shadows fired magic, Kargalgan spewed an enormous flame of fire, and other magical creatures launched attack after attack.

In the next instant, the center of the clash began to glow and tremble as the first attacks collided with one another. Houses exploded immediately, the ground split open, and two forces collided at a surreal speed.

The shadows turned into black flames as they were destroyed and began to regenerate, while monsters fell dead amid the chaos. Severus remained at the center, monitoring his mana, as a massive shield rose before him, forming a gigantic barrier between the two armies. That spell consumed even more mana than the regeneration of his fallen shadows there.

All enemy spells collided with the shield and were nullified, while the attacks of the shadows, which Severus had ordered to continue, passed through the barrier freely, striking the enemy.

The Ice Monarch could not hide his shock. Severus had created a barrier through which only the attacks of his allies could pass, while all others were completely blocked. None of them had the means to destroy it.

For the second time, the Ice Monarch seemed to fall into despair. He began to see his forces dwindling more and more as the attacks advanced. Some creatures managed to pass through the barrier from the flanks or by flying over it, but the shadows reacted quickly, moving in to intercept them.

The monsters that tried to advance head-on could not pass through the barrier. They slammed into it with force and were immediately killed by the shadow attacks coming from the other side.

Severus began to increase his aura. He kept the shield spell active while raising his staff for a second spell. Suddenly, a massive thunder roared, and several Kirins in dragon form plummeted from the sky, exploding as they struck tens of thousands of creatures at the same time.

Even the Ice Monarch was hit, snarling as he moved as far away as possible to reduce the damage, but even so, he was burned by the discharge.

Gritting his teeth, he immediately formed an enormous ice lance, concentrating his magic to the utmost. Severus narrowed his eyes, knowing that this was the enemy's main attack. He advanced at the same instant the lance collided with the shield, which immediately began to crack.

"You are not that weak," Severus praised, as the shield began to shatter. Then, the Ice Monarch fired a beam of ice, showing that he still had strength, and began to summon a blizzard once again.

The storm erupted, covering the entire city. Severus responded by releasing heat, countering the cold, but some of his shadows were hit and began to lose their advantage against the ice creatures, which were naturally resistant to snow. Only some shadows, such as those captured in the red portal, were able to resist better within Severus's army.

Even so, he held firm, looking ahead and identifying the bodies scattered across the battlefield.

When the snowfall intensified, the Shadow Monarch raised his voice.

"Arise."

The word echoed across the field like a dreadful command. In the next moment, countless shadows began to rise throughout the battlefield.

"We can't see anything!" the reporters said, as they watched the entire city plunge once again into a snowstorm for the second time.

Severus used his classic shadow teleport, catching the Ice Monarch by surprise in the center of the blizzard. He appeared directly in front of him. The Monarch tried to escape as the dagger came toward his neck, but Severus changed its trajectory so as not to lose him as he dodged at the last instant, still causing damage. One of the Monarch's eyes was struck, blood gushed out, and he roared in pain.

With his other free hand, Severus drove the staff into the rooftop and invoked another heat spell. The snow began to dissipate rapidly. He pulled back enough, without even having time to feel anger, because when he looked to the side, he saw his monsters being attacked from their own rear.

"When did this…?" he thought, trying to understand when Severus had placed shadows behind him, when he had made sure he would not be caught from behind.

But as he focused better, his eyes narrowed. They were not shadows.

They were ice creatures.

At least one hundred and fifty thousand of them had appeared, beginning to destroy his entire army.

"Thank you, Ice Monarch," Severus said, making him look at him with his only intact eye, completely stunned.

"You just increased my army to more than double."

Severus now possessed more than 250,000 shadows, while the enemy was left with just over 350,000 creatures.
