Chapter 439 - Chapter 439: Return to Demon Slayer

After the tour was over, I sent both of them back to their home world, as I needed to see my lovers from another world. Since it only been a short time since I met my lovers from the DXD world, I decided not to see them and instead just gave them a message that I was going to the next world. But I needed to visit the Demon Slayer world, as I didn't know how the world was going after I left.

Hope it has become peaceful as I killed most of the Upper Moon Demons.

The moment I stepped through the portal, the familiar scent of pine, earth, and mountain air hit me.

The Demon Slayer world. It had been a while since I last visited. My memories of this place were soaked in blood, fire, and shadows. But something felt different now—calmer. Quieter.

I looked around the clearing where I arrived. The room I stayed in at the Butterfly Mansion hadn't changed. Then, I sensed a familiar presence approaching.

Yuki.

She opened the door as she entered, her white hair tied neatly behind her. Her uniform bore the marks of experience—patches, scuffs, and mended seams from countless battles. But her expression carried relief.

"You really came back," she said, walking up to me.

I gave a half-smile. "Of course. I always come back."

Yuki gave a light chuckle. "It's good to see you again, Alex."

She didn't hesitate to step forward and hug me. I returned the gesture. Her heartbeat was steady—calm. That was new.

"So," I said, pulling back slightly. "How are things? Still chasing demons through the mountains?"

"Actually," she said, "you'll be happy to hear that things have changed a lot since you left."

"Oh?"

Yuki nodded and motioned for me to walk with her. As we moved through the trees, she began her update.

"After you killed most of the Upper Moons, everything started shifting. Demon attacks dropped drastically. It's like Muzanette went into hiding. No new demons have been created in months. None."

I raised an eyebrow. "That's unlike her. She always liked spreading chaos."

Did she listen to what I said to her?

"Right? But this time... silence. It's eerie, but we're not complaining."

We reached a small path that led to the outskirts of a rebuilt village. I noticed there were fewer patrols and fewer fortifications. The tension that used to choke every settlement in this world was lifting.

"There's more," Yuki continued. "A demon came to the corps headquarters a few weeks ago."

I turned to her sharply. "A demon? And they weren't immediately executed?"

"She wasn't hostile. Her name is Tamayo."

That name sparked something. I'd heard of her before—briefly. A demon who rejected Muzanette's control. A rare anomaly.

"She's a scientist of sorts," Yuki explained. "Tanjiro was the one who convinced the higher-ups to let her speak. She wants to create a drug—one that can turn demons back into humans."

I blinked, surprised. "And the Corps agreed to this?"

"They were hesitant at first, but she brought research with her. Real progress. She even cured a lesser demon during the demonstration. The higher-ups were... stunned."

I stopped walking, processing what I just heard.

"She might succeed?" I asked.

"She believes she will," Yuki replied. "She's working closely with the medical teams now. She said that Muzanette's blood is the key—if she can isolate the corruption in it, she can reverse it."

"And Tanjiro?"

"He's still with the Corps. Nezuko's still human, but... she's been asking about you. A lot."

I smiled faintly. "I missed her too."

"She cried the first few days after you left," Yuki said, her voice softening. "Even though you left her a note,. She thought you'd never return."

"That's not how I work," I said quietly.

Yuki gave me a look that said she knew and that she understood. Then she paused. "Are you planning to see her?"

"Of course," I said. "But first, I needed to know how the world was faring. And... it's better than I hoped."

"I'd say that's thanks to you," Yuki said. "You left a crater in Muzanette's plans."

We reached the edge of the corps' new base. Unlike the old one, this place wasn't hidden underground or buried in ruins. It was open—proud. Training grounds, clinics, and barracks stood in neat rows. Demon Slayers, both rookies and veterans, walked without fear.

"Things really have changed," I murmured.

Yuki looked at me with a small smirk. "You look like you're about to disappear again."

I didn't deny it. "I am."

"To another world?"

"Yes. Soon. But I wanted to see this one before I did. Say goodbye properly this time."

Yuki nodded slowly. "Will you ever come back?"

"I don't know. I go where I'm needed. Where adventure calls."

She smiled sadly. "Then while you're here, make sure to see Nezuko. She might bite you if you don't."

"I'm counting on it."
