Chapter 1388 - ∞PRIMORDIAL HUNGER∞

The Primordial Hunger is one of the Outer Deities from the Cosmos that attempted to invade Earth. "He" is the current owner of the Tail-Devourer Symbol2 Tail-Devourer Pathway, with it being the only Pathway under "Him" as the very idea of division was Devoured by "Him".

∞↑↑Symbols, Authorities & Abilities↑↑∞

"He" possesses full Authority over the Tail-Devourer Symbol2 Tail-Devourer Pathway and the corresponding Symbols, which include but are not limited to the following:

Tail-Devourer Symbol2 Tail-Devourer: Authorities over Devouring, Convergence, and Hunger. And the Symbols of Devouring and Convergence.[3]

The Symbols, Authorities, and Abilities "He" possesses and displays at the Above the Sequence level include:

∞Primordium and Chaos: "He" is both the Primordial Hunger and the Chaos Gastric Juices.

The Primordial Hunger would not miss any opportunities related to Chaos or Primordial qualities.[4]

Among the Sefirot, "His" objectives include the City of Calamity, and the Chaos Sea with the Hanged Man Symbol2 Hanged Man Uniqueness and others.

Among the Outer Deities, "He" preferred the Uncertain Mist the most,[5] because "He" is the Chaos Gastric Juices, while the Uncertain Mist is a part of the Son of Chaos.[6]

∞Convergence: "He" symbolized the instinct of Convergence.[3]

"He" could forcibly pull other's true bodies to "His" side.[3]

Because of "His" authority over Convergence, even if "He" lacks the explicit ability to Devour and Digest, the Tail-Devourer can still influence Fate to some extent.[1]

Since "He" acts primarily on instinct,[7] the Lord of Mysteries' symbolism of Foolishness will have little effect on "Him".

However, Deceit will have an effect on "Him". "His" instinct for Convergence and desired targets can be exploited.[8]

∞Devour: "He" can Devour everything, including things such as black holes.[9]

"His" domain is not merely eating and Devouring; it also governs Digestion, Utilization, and Erasure. Unlike Concealment—which simply hides and can later be recovered—this power leaves nothing behind.[1]

If "He" Devoured an Avatar or Marionette, "He" could absorb and erase the corresponding abilities, reducing or even temporarily nullifying their symbolic influence.[3]

"He" can Devour the Ravings within "His" own mind when affected by the Inextinguishable Ravings.[10]

If the Primordial Hunger Devoured certain entities, the following will happen:

∞Chaos Primogenitor: This would cause an aggressive Convergence to occur, causing the return of the Original Creator.[11]

∞Paragon: Since the Paragon is the Embodiment of Essence, all atoms in the cosmos would become Hungry' and would converge, triggering continuous nuclear fusion everywhere, leading to the universe's living environment becoming extremely hostile to life.[12]

Pathways or Sefirot related to mind/spirit, like Visionary Symbol2 ∞Visionary or Ravings: "He" would develop the ability to Devour others' minds, but would not become smarter.[13]

≠↓Countering Symbols, Authorities & Abilities↓≠

Certain Symbols, Authorities, and Abilities of other Great Old Ones can counter some of "His" powers, which include but are not limited to the following:

≠Calamity of Destruction:

Disaster of Origin counters Devouring.

When biting through the Chaos Vortex produced by the Calamity of Destruction, the Primordial Hunger cannot Devour the corresponding abilities and authorities due to the symbolism of Disaster of Origin.[14]

≠God Almighty:

Envisioning counters Devouring.

When Devouring the God Almighty's Envisioned Illusions, "He" cannot Devour the corresponding abilities and authorities.[10]

∞Appearance∞

True Form: A dark vortex revealing bared white teeth and chaotic liquid encompassing all colors. "His" exterior no longer featured elongated black shadows with different heads, as they seemed to have been consumed by "Himself" long ago.[15]

∞Personality∞

Out of all the Outer Deities known, "He" is the most primitive and vulnerable to "His" desires of Convergence, having Devoured "His" rationality and only leaving the most basic sense of self-preservation.

∞Background∞

According to the Seven Lights, ever since the Oldest One awakened and split apart, the most powerful Outer Deities in the entire universe, including the Primordial Hunger, gathered around this tiny solar system.

Some of "Them" wish to retrieve "Their" Sefirot and Beyonder Characteristics that had been ripped from "Them" and were attracted here. Some have the hope of getting neighboring Sefirot and high-level Beyonder Characteristics which "They" can accommodate.[16]

The Primordial Hunger would not miss any opportunities related to chaos or primordial qualities. "His" objective appeared to be consuming the City of Calamity, ingesting but not digesting the Chaos Sea, and absorbing the Uniquenesses of the Hanged Man Symbol2 Hanged Man and others. However, Klein suspected that the Primordial Hunger might lose control over "His" convergence instinct and directly swallow the Chaos Sea.[3]

The Primordial Hunger can Devour any Outer Deities, but "He" preferred to Devour the Uncertain Mist the most,[17] because "He" is the Chaos Gastric Juices, while the Uncertain Mist is a part of the Son of Chaos.[18]

∞History∞

"His" subordinate Angel, Ludwig Phil, was captured and sealed by the Church of the God of Knowledge and Wisdom. The organization that follows the Primordial Hunger, the School of Deliciousness, tried to reclaim Ludwig during Project Vortex.[19]

The corruption on the Box of the Great Old Ones was revealed to originate from "Him". It was fed to Ludwig Phil by Lumian Lee, which allowed "Him" to advance and recover to Sequence 1 Chaos Gastric Juices.

During The Apocalypse, "He" was held off by Adam for the duration of the fight and was forced to withdraw after being dealt a critical blow by Lumian Lee.

Tail-Devourer Pathway↓↓

Devouring the external world is not the end goal. Even consuming rules, concepts, authorities, and symbols is not the end. Devouring yourself, devouring your father, devouring the god you worship-that is your ultimate fate, the pinnacle of hunger.

∞Overview∞

The Tail-Devourer Symbol2 Tail-Devourer Pathway seems to be all about analyzing and processing ingredients to cook different dishes, drinks, and concoctions. They possess enhanced digestive capabilities, can deprive others of their Beyonder powers, and can digest and absorb Beyonder characteristics and Mystical Items for extra power. At High-Sequences, "They" hold authority over Devouring, Convergence, and Hunger, constantly striving to devour everything—even "Themselves"—to achieve the ultimate convergence and the corresponding sense of satiety.[1]

This Pathway is one of the new Pathways introduced in Circle of Inevitability. It exists outside the twenty-two Standard Pathways, but is still classified into Sequence 9 to Sequence 0.[2]

On Earth, the Beyonders of this Pathway do not advance through Potions, but by praying to the Outer Deity Primordial Hunger, who is the Above the Sequence of this Pathway, for a Boon. The corresponding Sefirah is the Primordial Hunger's currently unnamed Sefirah.

This Pathway is the only Pathway under the Primordial Hunger.

∞Mythical Creature Form∞

A dark vortex revealing bared white teeth and chaotic liquid encompassing all colors—much like an abstract, living stomach.[1]

∞Angel of Devouring∞

"They" look like dark vortices, filled with gleaming white teeth and tendrils of shadow extending outward, crowned with disparate heads.[5]

∞Chaos Gastric Juices∞

"They" are blobs of liquid containing all colors.[5]

≈≈Neighboring and Compatible Pathways≈≈

The Tail-Devourer Pathway is a Compatible Pathway to all Pathways. This is because, as the Primordial Hunger is the symbol of Convergence, it is theoretically possible for the Tail-Devourer Pathway to switch to any Pathway.[6]

At higher sequences, especially the Angel levels, while one can still switch from another pathway to the Tail-Devourer Pathway, doing the opposite becomes very hard. At that point they can only Devour others, since this pathway represents Convergence. One can still take advantage of the influence of the Separation symbol to pull off a workaround and convert out of it.[7]

There is no Outer Deity that embodies the symbol of Separation, but the symbol of Separation does exist, and can be utilized using certain ways. The simplest idea is to die once. Because symbols related to Termination naturally carry some Separation, by letting one's own characteristics temporarily die or fall dormant, one could then perform the conversion in that state. However, this is very dangerous — in most cases, one would simply end up dead.

The Primordial Hunger has certain preferences on the Pathways "He" wanted to Devour. In particular, "He" would not miss any opportunities related to Chaos or Primordial qualities.[8] This includes but might not be limited to:

Some Pathways under the God Almighty:[8]

Hanged Man Symbol2 Hanged Man

Pathways under the Calamity of Destruction:[Note 1]

Demoness Symbol2 Demoness

Red Priest Symbol2 Red Priest

Pathways under the Uncertain Mist:[Note 2]

Chaos Mist Symbol2 Chaos Mist

Note:

Because the Primordial Hunger specifically targets the City of Calamity[8] and can accommodate it.[9]

The Primordial Hunger preferred to devour the Uncertain Mist the most out of all Outer Deities,[10] because "He" is the Chaos Gastric Juices, while the Uncertain Mist is a part of the Son of Chaos.[11]

∞Sequence 9: Tramp∞

Traits

• Digestive Enhancements: Their digestive capabilities become notably stronger.

New Abilities[1]

• Hunger: Having lost everything else, they are always searching for food, barely surviving.[2]

Their overwhelming craving for food becomes their primary Desire. In other words, the impact other Desires have on them become significantly reduced.

• Adaptation: A Tramp's ability to Adapt to their environment has been improved.[1]

• Combat Proficiency (Street Fighting): They gain good street fighting skills.

∞Sequence 8: Glutton∞

Traits[1]

• Digestive Enhancements: They have gained a qualitative enhancement in their digestion.[3]

Such Digestive Enhancements a Glutton has gained encompass:

Possessing strong, powerful teeth, and a bite force that exceed normal limits.

Internal organs that are better suited for digesting food and absorbing energy.

Being resistant to most toxins, viruses and bacteria that are inside food.

However, their resistance to these substances does have it's limits and many Gluttons perish from indiscriminate consumption.

Being able to derive different abilities from food more efficiently.

• Hunger: Hunger and the want for food truly becomes ingrained in a Glutton's body.

A Glutton's appetite will exceed human limits.

∞ Sequence 7: Gourmet ∞

Traits[1]

• Digestive Enhancements: Their digestion and consumption abilities will improve further.[3]

New Abilities[1]

• Ingredient Analysis: The core ability of a Gourmet. With it, they can Analyze and discern various Ingredients and their corresponding properties for cooking.[3]

They are able to Analyze whether or not certain Ingredients are able to be consumed.

They are able to Analyze which Ingredients can bring along certain special effects.

They know what Ingredients to combine together to achieve a maximum effect.

They can extract certain information or memories from the consumed food.

∞Sequence 6: Chef∞

Individual Differences

Every Chef has different characteristics and abilities due to the food they've Cooked.[3][1]

New Abilities[1]

• Cooking: Chefs are able to use special ingredients to create mystical dishes, pastries, drinks, and cocktails that can give effects and abilities that are either permanent or temporary.[3]

A Chef is not actually able to consume entire Beyonder Characteristics yet. For now, a Chef is only able to use Beyonder Characteristics as mystical ingredients for their dishes.

The strength of the traits and abilities a Chef can obtain from Cooking far less than those acquired by other methods like a Scribe's Recording or a Shepherd's Grazing.

As long as a Chef embraces their Hunger and greed, there won't be an upper limit to the number of permanent effects a Chef can obtain through various mystical foods.

Depending on the ingredients and finished products, the mystical dishes or cocktails with permanent effects created by a Chef will bring forth a variety of downsides.

Similar to the permanent effects gained, there's no limit to the number of negative effects.

These downsides are significantly weaker than those a Contractee will face.

Examples of the permanent effects a consumer can gain from a Chef's dishes are:

Gaining potent self healing capabilities that are only outrivaled by a Vampire.[4]

Altering one's lineage to become a symbolic "child" of a certain entity.[4]

Having one's infertility become completely cured.[4]

Being able to easily use Cogitation.[4]

After eating a boon recipient of the Chaos Mist Symbol2 Chaos Mist Pathway, Lez gained the ability to discern who deserved to die.[5]

Eating books won't grant them knowledge, they would have to eat the teachers.[6]

• Ingredient Processing: Chefs have excellent skills in Processing Ingredients.[3]

They are excellent in the technique of cutting, chopping, and slicing.

They can find and exploit weaknesses within Ingredients.

∞ Sequence 5: Depriver ∞

Traits

• Digestive Enhancements: They are able to consume Corruption to a certain degree, as well as Lightning, Fireballs, and other energy forms via their digestive system.

Bainar opened his mouth wide and sucked the blazing-white fireball created by Lumian like a whale swallowing water, remaining unharmed.[7]

They can spit out the things they have Devoured as attacks against their enemies.

In face against the massive, blazing-white fireball shot by Lumian, the bar owner's eyes narrowed, and he immediately spewed the blazing-white flames from his stomach, transforming them into a torrent to meet the incoming fireballs.[7]

New Abilities[1]

• Deprivation: They can strip one to three abilities from a target for a period of time.

If they then consume part of the target's flesh, they permanently gain one of those abilities, and the target permanently loses it unless they drink a potion again or kill the corresponding Depriver.

When Depriving abilities, the Depriver also takes away the Beyonder Characteristics corresponding to the Beyonder power.[8]

There is no upper limit to the number of abilities that can be devoured.[9]

This Deprivation will completely take away the ability from the target, which is different from the Deprivation from an Imperative Mage which only prevents the target from using that ability.[10]

They can sense which abilities and traits of the enemy are most dangerous to them. Even if they don't know exactly what those abilities and traits are, they can still Deprive the abilities of them based on the level of danger they pose.[4]

Strengthened Abilities[1]

• Ingredient Processing: A Depriver is able to Process Corruption, Fireballs, Lightning, and other energy forms and use them as Ingredients for their Cooking.

Bainar raised his nearly shattered cleaver and slashed at the blazing-white fireball. The fireball split in two, losing its momentum and destructive aura.[7]

• Cooking: Upon advancing into a Depriver, they gain an enhancement to their Cooking abilities and can Cook dishes using Corruption and energy forms.

By using Abscessed Hand's corpse as an Ingredient, Bainar and those who also ate it gained some self-healing ability, became stronger on moonlit nights, and learned some dark spells.[11]

But in return, self-control would significantly decrease, intelligence would regress, and nightmares would be frequent.[11]

Bainar was able to make Abscessed Hand's rotten flesh look and smell like real steak.[7]

∞ Sequence 4: Sea Monster ∞

Traits

• Sea Monster Transformation: At this Sequence, they have transformed into a truly colossal being- a veritable Sea Monster- possessing Sea Monster levels of strength and vitality.

• Digestive Enhancements: A Sea Monster's digestive capabilities have been greatly strengthened, making them capable of consuming 10 to 20 tons of food in one feeding.

Ludwig's mouth kept opening wider, until eventually, his entire head and body seemed to become part of the mouth, with sharp teeth reflecting the brilliant sunlight, creating a massive whirlpool in the sea, swallowing marine creatures numbered in the thousands, streaming endlessly.[12]

The massive whirlpool's appearance triggered changes in the sea area, with water currents becoming turbulent and massive waves rising in the distance.

They can directly consume attacks and consume Beyonder Characteristics and Mystical Items of other Pathways- which they can then Digest and store, allowing them to be used by them.

The latter does not cause them to lose control, but it will make them gradually accumulate both madness and an ever-growing Hunger.

At the Sea Monster level, their Digestive Enhancements can allow them to consume a Parasite that is living inside their body.[13]

Strengthened Abilities

• Deprivation: They can Devour abilities from higher sequences of different Pathways, such as devouring a Sequence 3.[14]

∞ Mythical Creature Form ∞

As Demigods at Sequence 4 who have obtained partial Godhood, they are able to manifest their incomplete Mythical Creature Form if they disregard any of the consequences.

∞Sequence 3: Hydra∞

Traits[1]

• Sea Monster Transformation: The Beyonder Characteristics and Mystical Items they have consumed have been Digested and absorbed, becoming the Hydra's other bodies and heads.

Topsy transformed into a monster towering dozens or hundreds of meters high, with a lower body resembling a giant snake covered in shark-like skin with hidden evil patterns. The upper body split into nine necks, each with a different head-some resembling snakes, some like giant sharks, some with wet black wolf heads, some possibly of legendary dragons. The most bizarre central head appeared human but had only a mouth left, with teeth sharp enough to crush anything.[15]

The Hydra can launch out 9 simultaneous attacks.

• Digestive Enhancements: They are able to Devour a Seal.[16]

Another light point had already expanded, revealing a member of the School of Deliciousness, Topsy, Devouring an invisible Seal over the ocean.

∞↑Mythical Creature Form↓∞

As a Sequence 3 Beyonder, they can respond to prayers within a certain range.

∞ Sequence 2: Angel of Devouring ∞

Authorities[1][17]

• Devouring & Erasure: "They" have gain initial mastery over the authorities of Devouring and Erasing, capable of Erasing some conceptual things.

There are limits to the number and range of things that can be Devoured and "They" are not able to directly Devour an entire area or tangible target.

To Devour physical targets and areas, "They" instead have to create a vortex in "Their" mouths and draw the target in before proceeding to the next step.

"Their" core ability is to Devour the rules and various shallow-level concepts governing the area.

Depending on how it was Devoured, a Devoured concept can recover on its own with time or permanently disappear from the area unless outside powers interfere.[17]

Ludwig Phil Devoured the concept of "gold" from a chandelier, causing it to dull and blacken. And with interference from Lumian Lee, the concept was returned.[17]

Any rule "They" Devour can be replicated by "Them" once. Repeated use of a rule requires "Them" to Devour the source of such rules.[17]

Ludwig Phil Devoured the rule of 'sunlight illumination' and engulfed a space in Darkness. Even if a Beyonder creates sunlight again, until this rule is restored, that sunlight won't function. Later, "He" replicated the use of that rule to bring back light within the place.[17]

Similar to Devouring concepts, a Devoured rule can also recover depending on how long it was Devoured. This takes anywhere between one to three minutes.

If "They" were to fall, depending on the situation, the Beyonder Characteristics of other pathways "They" Devoured might blend together or separate, depending on whether the symbol of Convergence or Separation was stronger at the time.[18]

∞↓↑ Mythical Creature Form↑↑∞

"They" become full Mythical Creatures. "They" appear as a dark vortex revealing bared white teeth and chaotic liquid encompassing all colors—much like an abstract, living stomach.

∞Sequence 1: Chaos Gastric Juices∞

Authorities[1]

•Devouring & Erasure: "They" are the embodiment of the authority- the Cleanser of the Universe.

Except for Uniquenesses, Sefirot, Beyonder Characteristics, and the mental imprints of the Great Old Ones, everything else can be Digested and Erased- even "Their" own brain and wisdom.

"They" are able to Devour things such as "emotions", "memories", "spirit", "consciousness", "night", "day", "good", "evil", "order", and "disaster".

If released, the third layer of the Box of the Great Old Ones might start by consuming the subconscious and the deepest parts of the islands of consciousness. It would eat emotions, memories, spirit, and consciousness, then flesh and blood, then night, day, good, evil, order, and disaster. It would continue until it consumed parts of the world's fundamental rules, destabilizing reality and dissolving the barriers at their foundation.[19]

As opposed to an Angel of Devouring, a Chaos Gastric Juices can now directly Devour an area in reality and everything within it.

If the third layer were to be opened, the Box of the Great Old Ones would Devour everything within the surrounding area.[19]

The Corruption that a Tree God is able to give can be Devoured and Digested by a Chaos Gastric Juices.[20]

A Chaos Gastric Juice's domain is not merely eating and Devouring; it also governs the domains of Digestion, Utilization, and Erasure.

Unlike Concealment- which simply hides and can be later recovered- the Devouring of a Chaos Gastric Juices leaves nothing behind.

∞Sequence 0: Tail-Devourer (Self-Devourer, Gluttony)∞

Description

The Sequence 0 name means Devouring oneself, Digesting oneself, and growing oneself anew.[17]

Authorities[1]

• Convergence & Hunger: "They" have mastered the authority of Convergence and Hunger.

The Tail-Devourer is constantly striving to Devour everything- even "Themselves"- to achieve the ultimate Convergence and a corresponding sense of satiety.

Because of "Their" Convergence authority, even if "They" lack the explicit ability to Devour and Digest Fate, "They" can still influence it to some extent.
