[Unknown P.O.V.]
Hi, my name is Ben Tennyson. I am an orphan from the town of Bellwood. When I was only ten years old, I found an alien device called the Omnitrix, the strongest weapon in the entire universe. After I got that watch, my life took a turn for both the better and the worse.
But no matter what life threw at me, I always managed to get back up no matter what happened. So, let me start from the time I gave up the Omnitrix and began wearing my very own device, one that I created myself...
The Monotrix.
[P.O.V. Ends – Many Years Before]
"Release me! Or suffer the consequences!"
Vilgax shouted as he struggled within the tight grip of one of Ben's newest and largest aliens, Way Big. It had all started thanks to one of Dr. Animo's experiments going horribly wrong, causing the Omnitrix to malfunction. Even Gray Matter was having difficulty repairing the damage. Before long, Ben's old ally, Tetrax Shard, arrived and warned him that the Omnitrix's self-destruct sequence had been activated.
The only way to stop it was to find the creator of the Omnitrix himself, Azmuth. Under normal circumstances, Gray Matter or Upgrade would have easily dealt with a malfunction like this, but the problem was that this wasn't a normal self-destruct sequence. If it reached zero, the Omnitrix wouldn't just destroy itself—it would destroy the entire universe as well.
Ben had no other choice but to search for Azmuth. He was also warned not to transform using the Omnitrix, as doing so would only accelerate the countdown even further. Since the Omnitrix was completely unusable, Ben did the only thing he thought was logical.
He brought his incomplete Monotrix instead and relied on that.
Tetrax was genuinely shocked by this discovery. Not only had Ben managed to create a device comparable to Azmuth's greatest invention, but unlike the Omnitrix, it transformed him into aliens Tetrax had never seen before. Unfortunately, because the Monotrix was still incomplete, it suffered from numerous flaws. Its transformation timer was unstable, its overall performance was limited, and Ben couldn't access any of his higher-tier transformations.
That created another major problem. Most of Ben's strongest transformations were capable of surviving and fighting in the vacuum of space, but the weaker ones couldn't. Because of that, Ben had to be extremely careful when choosing which alien to use, making every transformation count.
As if their luck wasn't already bad enough, Vilgax relentlessly pursued them throughout their journey. On top of that, the bounty hunter Six Six had also joined the chase, hoping to claim the Omnitrix for himself. Fortunately, Ben's Monotrix transformations such as Charizard and Metagross repeatedly managed to deal with both threats, buying enough time for the group to continue their mission.
Eventually, they tracked the creator of the Omnitrix to a remote planet completely overrun by Wildvines. The hostile plant creatures constantly attempted to devour anyone who entered their territory, but Ben, Tetrax, and Myaxx—Azmuth's former assistant—managed to fight their way through the dangerous jungle together while continuing their search.
Fortunately, they reached Azmuth before Vilgax did.
Unfortunately...
The legendary creator of the Omnitrix turned out to be a nihilistic little frog who had completely given up on the universe. Rather than trying to stop the Omnitrix's detonation, he believed the universe deserved to be destroyed once the device exploded.
Ben had finally heard enough.
He stepped forward and confronted Azmuth directly.
"It doesn't matter what you think. There are still people out there who value their lives. There are people risking everything every single day to make the universe a better place. Then there are people like you, who only choose to look at the worst parts of everything."
Azmuth merely looked back at Ben with an unimpressed expression.
"I am simply being a realist. What I am saying is nothing more than a fact of life."
Ben frowned before looking directly at the small Galvan.
"No."
He shook his head.
"You're not a realist. You're a nihilist."
Azmuth remained silent.
"If you were actually a realist, you'd acknowledge both the good and the bad parts of the universe. You'd understand both sides and think pragmatically about how to improve things for everyone instead of deciding that mass genocide is somehow the answer."
Ben's voice became firmer with every word.
"I reject your conclusion. I reject your ideology that the universe is only bad. And most importantly..."
Ben raised his own watch.
"...I reject you."
Ben declared
"I don't need your damn watch to save the universe!"
As Ben declared those words, he held up the Monotrix.
Azmuth's eyes widened in genuine shock.
He stared at the device in disbelief.
It looked unmistakably similar to the Omnitrix, yet it was also completely different.
Before Azmuth could even process what he was seeing, Ben slammed down on the Monotrix's dial.
A bright golden flash erupted around him.
Moments later, standing where Ben had once been was a completely unknown alien species that even Azmuth had never encountered before.
This was the alien Ben called...
Blaziken.
A tall, bipedal, red chicken-like warrior with powerful legs built for combat.
"Look closely, Azmuth."
Blaziken lowered himself into a fighting stance.
"I'll show you what true resolve looks like."
Without another word, he charged straight toward Vilgax.
The two warriors immediately clashed.
Blaziken possessed far greater speed than Vilgax, weaving around the warlord's attacks with practiced precision. However, Vilgax's cybernetic enhancements gave him a significant advantage in raw strength. Every punch he threw carried enough force to shatter stone.
Blaziken compensated with superior martial arts techniques.
He slipped past Vilgax's heavy blows before countering with powerful Blaze Kicks and devastating punches engulfed in flames. Every movement flowed naturally into the next as both fighters exchanged blow after blow across the battlefield.
BOOM!
BOOM!
BOOM!
"HAHHHHH!!"
Blaziken unleashed an even stronger combination of attacks, but Vilgax endured them through sheer toughness before retaliating with another crushing punch. Blaziken narrowly dodged it before delivering several rapid strikes directly into Vilgax's abdomen. Vilgax answered with a powerful right hook, only for Blaziken to evade once again before driving an uppercut into the conqueror's jaw.
Every attack Vilgax attempted was either dodged or countered.
It frustrated him to no end.
Trying to land a clean hit on Blaziken was almost like trying to swat an annoying mosquito.
Blaziken quickly leaped backward before thrusting both arms forward. A massive torrent of flames erupted toward Vilgax. This was Fire blast attack
The warlord's eyes widened.
He couldn't dodge in time.
BOOM!!
The explosion engulfed him completely, finally dealing significant damage.
Ben, however, was beginning to tire.
His breathing had become noticeably heavier.
Before he could capitalize on the advantage, the incomplete Monotrix finally reached its limit.
A flash of light surrounded him as he was forced back into his human form.
"Give up, Tennyson."
Vilgax slowly stepped out of the smoke.
"You can't win this battle... even your inferior copy of the watch has given up on you."
Ben gritted his teeth.
"I'm done with people like you... or Azmuth... telling me to give up!"
His voice echoed across the battlefield.
"You bad guys never quit! No matter how many times you get beaten, you just keep coming back for more! You don't give up, right!? So why do you expect us, the good guys, to give up now!?"
Ben slowly began walking toward Vilgax.
The warlord did exactly the same.
Step by step, the distance between them disappeared until the eleven-year-old boy stood directly in front of the towering intergalactic conqueror.
If it could even be called standing face-to-face.
Vilgax towered over Ben by a considerable margin.
The conqueror looked down at the exhausted child.
"Any last words, Tennyson?"
Ben didn't even flinch.
He looked Vilgax straight in the eyes.
"Take your best shot."
Vilgax slowly raised his fist, preparing to strike Ben down once and for all.
Before he could bring it down, however, Tetrax rushed in at the last possible second. Crystalline structures erupted from the ground, forming a massive barrier between Ben and Vilgax. Without wasting another moment, Tetrax grabbed Ben and pulled him away from the warlord, retreating toward Azmuth.
"Tetrax!"
Ben shouted as he looked at the Diamondhead-looking alien.
"I told you to stay with Azmuth, Ben! Why won't you listen for once!?"
"I don't want to sit here and miss out on all the action, especially protecting someone like Azmuth, who couldn't care less about the universe!"
Tetrax simply sighed before placing a hand on Ben's shoulder.
"Ben, I understand how you feel, but remember... you must always know when you are outmatched."
Ben simply gritted his teeth as even Tetrax had just told him to give up, sit back, and watch the whole show unfold. Without another word, Tetrax left to rejoin the battle against Vilgax.
A few moments later, Azmuth slowly walked toward Ben.
Ben didn't even acknowledge his presence at first. Instead, he looked away before speaking with obvious bitterness in his voice.
"Why are you here? To tell me that you were right?"
What Azmuth said next, however, completely surprised him.
"No."
Azmuth calmly looked at the young boy before continuing.
"I wanted to say... you were right."
Ben looked at him in confusion.
"I was thinking too nihilistically. You were right. If I truly considered myself a realist, I would have looked at both the good and the bad of the universe. Instead, I chose to narrow everything down to my own worldview."
He looked down at the Omnitrix.
"That is why..."
As he spoke, he immediately began making adjustments to the Omnitrix, causing Ben to look even more confused.
"What are you doing?"
"Fixing my mistake, kid."
Azmuth continued working on the device without looking away.
"Watching you fight while putting your life on the line finally gave me hope in this universe."
A faint smile appeared on his face.
"Try this alien out."
Without another warning, Azmuth jumped onto the Omnitrix's dial.
Ben instinctively slammed it down.
A brilliant flash of green light engulfed his entire body.
His size rapidly increased.
Larger...
And larger...
Until he stood at the height of a skyscraper.
Ben stared down at his enormous body in amazement.
"Whoa! Check me out!"
He couldn't stop smiling.
"I'm not just big..."
He looked at his gigantic hands before clenching them into fists.
"...I'm WAY BIG!"
Not wasting another second, Way Big charged straight into battle. One after another, Vilgax's robotic army was effortlessly crushed beneath his overwhelming strength. Lasers, missiles, and explosions barely even slowed him down as he tore through the machines with ease before finally grabbing Vilgax himself.
Which led to his current predicament.
Vilgax desperately struggled to escape Way Big's grip. In frustration, he drove his sharp claws into Way Big's skin, but the attack barely registered.
It felt like nothing more than a mosquito bite.
Way Big looked down at him.
"Okay..."
His grip tightened.
"I've had enough of you!"
He shifted into what looked like a baseball pitching stance before throwing Vilgax with all of his might.
The warlord was launched completely out of Earth's orbit.
Just like that...
The battle was over.
A moment later, Ben de-transformed back into his human form.
To his surprise, the Omnitrix automatically detached itself from his wrist.
"Huh?"
Before he could react, Azmuth calmly walked over and picked up the Omnitrix.
He looked at Ben.
"It's clear to me..."
He paused briefly.
"...you don't need the watch anymore. I'll be taking it back, kid."
Ben blinked.
"You don't think I'm worthy?"
Azmuth looked almost offended by the question.
"No."
He shook his head.
"Quite the opposite. I don't think my inferior, unfinished copy is worthy of you, Tennyson."
His eyes shifted toward the golden device still resting on Ben's other wrist.
"Besides... You clearly have your own device."
Azmuth pointed toward the Monotrix.
"May I have a look?"
Ben looked down at his watch for a few moments before shrugging.
"Yeah."
"Sure."
Azmuth immediately jumped onto the Monotrix and began carefully examining it.
Almost immediately, he noticed something astonishing.
This wasn't simply a piece of technology.
The device behaved almost like a living organism.
Rather than being an ordinary machine, it appeared to be a Galvanic Mechamorph pretending to be a watch.
Azmuth was genuinely impressed by the ingenuity behind the design. Because of its biological nature, the Monotrix wouldn't require regular maintenance. It could potentially repair itself, maintain itself, and perhaps even continue upgrading itself over time.
A self-upgrading Omnitrix...
That wasn't something he had ever seriously considered.
Overall, the Monotrix closely resembled his own Omnitrix, although several design choices were noticeably different. What interested Azmuth the most, however, wasn't the exterior.
It was the transformation matrix.
The Omnitrix functioned by accessing DNA stored on the artificial planet Primus.
The Monotrix...
Didn't.
Azmuth searched again.
Still nothing.
He looked up at Ben.
"Young Tennyson... Care to enlighten me as to how your transformations work?"
He paused briefly.
"Or where you obtained the DNA for them? I have never encountered a species quite like your... Blaziken."
Ben smiled.
"Oh, You mean my transformations? I created them."
Azmuth blinked.
"...You..."
He stared at Ben.
"...created them?"
"Yep."
Ben smiled proudly.
"I have a habit of drawing monsters during my free time. So, with Gray Matter's and Upgrade's help, I created my own device called the Monotrix."
Azmuth frowned.
"But that still doesn't answer how you transform into them without possessing their DNA."
"Simple."
Ben pointed toward his watch.
"I replaced the Omnitrix's DNA Matrix with a Quantum Matrix."
He shrugged.
"In basic words... It's like combining Blender with a 3D printer."
Azmuth remained completely silent.
"...I don't know what either of those are."
Ben nodded.
"Fair enough. Blender is free software used on Earth's computers. It's an open-source 3D computer graphics software suite used for modeling, animation, rendering, visual effects, and even video editing. Artists, game developers, and filmmakers use it to create everything from 3D models to Hollywood-quality visual effects and video games."
Azmuth slowly nodded in understanding.
Ben continued.
"And a 3D printer is basically a machine that creates solid three-dimensional objects from a digital blueprint by adding material layer by layer. Instead of carving material away from a block, it builds objects from the bottom up using plastics, resins, metals, and other materials."
Azmuth quietly thought everything over.
Then...
His eyes suddenly widened.
"I see..."
He looked back down at the Monotrix.
"So, you replaced the DNA Data Drive Matrix with what is essentially a Quantum supercomputer that simulates your 'monsters' the same way Blender creates three-dimensional simulations."
He continued piecing everything together.
"And then... It projects those same simulations into reality by effectively '3D printing' them atom by atom."
He looked directly at Ben.
"So... you literally create your own transformations from scratch."
Ben smiled proudly.
"Exactly."
Tetrax and Myaxx exchanged uncertain looks.
Neither of them knew what to think.
Well...
Mostly Tetrax.
Myaxx, Azmuth's former assistant, was simply too shocked to say anything at all.
The thought that a human had managed to build something like this left her speechless.
Azmuth finally broke the silence.
"How..."
He looked directly at Ben.
"...how did a human build something like this?"
He genuinely refused to believe it.
No matter how intelligent a human was, constructing technology like this should have been impossible.
This was clearly Level 20 technology.
Well...
Perhaps not quite Level 20.
But certainly somewhere around Level 19 at the very least.
Ben answered without hesitation.
"Simple."
"I transformed into Gray Matter and Upgrade."
Azmuth slowly turned toward Tetrax.
Tetrax sighed.
"He means his Galvan transformation and his Galvanic Mechamorph transformation."
"Ah."
That was all Azmuth said.
Ben folded his arms smugly.
"What? Are you speechless because of my genius?"
"Not exactly."
Azmuth looked back at him.
"It's quite obvious that without both of those transformations, you would've never accomplished something like this."
Ben immediately deflated.
"...Oh."
Seeing the disappointed expression on the boy's face, Azmuth continued.
"However...I will give you a full ten out of ten... for creativity."
Ben's eyes widened.
"Did..."
He blinked.
"...did you just crack a joke?"
A small smile appeared on Azmuth's face.
"Figure it out yourself."
Without another word, Azmuth removed several components from the Omnitrix before carefully inserting them into the Monotrix.
Ben watched in complete confusion.
Before he could ask what was happening, the Monotrix suddenly glowed brilliantly.
A mechanical voice echoed from the device.
"Operationality: 100%. Monotrix updated."
Ben stared at his watch in disbelief.
"Did..."
He looked back at Azmuth.
"...did you just..."
"Yes."
Azmuth nodded.
"I completed your watch. It is now fully functional."
He turned away.
"Anyway, kid... It's time for me to go."
He looked toward his assistant.
"Let's go, Myaxx."
Without another word, Azmuth and Myaxx departed, leaving only Ben and Tetrax behind.
Meanwhile, Ben was far too busy cycling through all of the new transformations he had finally unlocked.
His grin grew wider with every new silhouette that appeared on the Monotrix's display.
In the end...
He couldn't hold back his excitement anymore.
"THIS..."
He laughed.
"...IS AWESOME!"
