Chapter 863 - Chapter 861: Moonlight Throne (Conclusion)

"Bronie, shut down all the cameras here."

After knocking out Bronie, Daniel Davis immediately turned to the other Bronie and said this, while raising his hand to block Kiana's attack. Upon seeing Daniel Davis knock out Bronie, Mei and Xier were momentarily stunned, but Kiana reacted the fastest—she rushed forward and threw a punch at him.

"So this is the famed Kasslana brute strength? It's certainly nothing to scoff at."

Feeling the power of Kiana's punch, Daniel Davis muttered under his breath.

"What are you trying to do to Bronie?"

Kiana's fist was blocked, so she followed up with a kick aimed at Daniel Davis.

"Calm down—she was just controlled by someone a moment ago and tried to attack you. All I did was knock her out. You can ask her yourself when she wakes up," Daniel Davis said, shifting backward in a flash to avoid Kiana's kick.

"Kiana, wait!"

Mei's voice suddenly rang out, halting Kiana's next move.

"All the cameras have been shut down. Someone installed a trojan to control them," the other Bronie reported after resolving the surveillance issues in the control room.

"To think that Moonlight Throne was meant as a gift to St. Freya… Did the two Doctors not anticipate this scenario?"

Knowing the story, Daniel Davis naturally understood why Moonlight Throne was here. It was the result of a collaboration between Anti-Entropy and Theresa's side. The details of that collaboration, however, he did not know.

"Damn it… damn it!"

At the very moment the cameras went dark, in a certain room lined with giant monitors, a long-haired blond woman slammed her hands angrily on the desk before her.

"Xier is safe—that's wonderful…"

Shortly after, she smiled with relief, softly repeating Xier's name under her breath.

"Bronie, big sister Bronie—are you alright?"

With Xier's constant calls, Bronie soon regained consciousness. Presumably, Cocolia—unable to monitor the scene without the cameras—had abandoned her attempt to control Bronie.

Upon waking, Bronie's face was a bit pale; after all, her brain chip had been forcibly activated. Yet, not wanting Xier to worry, she mustered a faint smile. Perhaps seeing Xier again had softened her once expressionless demeanor, allowing her to at least manage a smile.

"I'm fine. It was Mother Cocolia…"

Mentioning Cocolia brought a conflicted look to Bronie's eyes. Cocolia had raised and taught them—truly like a mother. Yet she was also the one who caused Xier to wander the Quantum Sea, not to mention the events of the Third Honkai Eruption in Changkong City. With everything that had happened, Bronie had no idea how to feel about her.

"Mother Cocolia…"

At Bronie's words, Xier's expression dimmed as well.

"Mei, Kiana, Bronie—what's happening? Are you all okay?"

Himeko's anxious voice crackled over the comm just then.

"Major Himeko, we're fine. We've secured control of this warship. What should we do next?"

Mei swiftly gave a concise report on the Moonlight Throne.

"Steer the warship away from the battlefield for now. We'll discuss further once this Honkai outbreak is contained."

"Understood, Major Himeko."

Neither Mei nor Bronie had the skills or experience to pilot a warship. As for Kiana, that went without saying. The other Bronie was in the same boat. Fortunately, the Moonlight Throne was equipped with an autopilot system—all it needed was a set course.

"So this is Honkai…"

As the Moonlight Throne moved aside, Daniel Davis arrived on the deck, looking down at the battle raging in the city below. The conflict in Canghai City was basically winding down; the Valkyrie squads were now eliminating any remaining Honkai Beasts. Among them, a fiery-red figure stood out prominently—none other than Wuliangta Himeko.

"The other world's Bronie, huh?"

Not long after the Moonlight Throne had docked, Himeko came aboard. On one hand, she needed to confirm the identities of Daniel Davis and the other Bronie; on the other, she wanted to ascertain Bronie's condition after witnessing her being controlled. Mei had already reported that incident.

"Call me Bronie, and don't stand so close."

Because she looked identical to Bronie, the other Bronie piqued Kiana's curiosity—Kiana kept trying to see how she differed from the Bronie she knew. However, both Bronie and the other Bronie seemed largely uninterested in each other.

"A world bubble in the Quantum Sea, huh? I thought you might be aliens."

Himeko seemed somewhat disappointed upon hearing that Daniel Davis and the other Bronie came from the Quantum Sea.

"In a certain sense, we could be called aliens."

During her student days, Himeko had been fascinated by extraterrestrial life, investigating any rumors of alien appearances—until the death of her father pushed her into serving Schicksal as a Valkyrie, seeking the truth behind his demise.

"You could indeed say that. There are still a few things that need attending to, so head back to St. Freya Academy first."

After exchanging a few words with Kiana, Mei, and Bronie—and checking in with Theresa—Himeko instructed the Moonlight Throne to return them. She had matters left to resolve.

Following Himeko's orders, the injured Valkyries were soon brought aboard; they needed urgent treatment at St. Freya's medical facility.

St. Freya Academy, being an academy, naturally wasn't as limited as it might appear in a game scenario. It had far more than just the "Three Royal Family" members, Fuhua, and Himeko. The academy boasted numerous students, many of them active Valkyries.

After all, St. Freya Academy served as Schicksal's Far East Branch, responsible for handling any Honkai incidents within its jurisdiction.

Upon arriving at St. Freya Academy, Theresa would be there to receive them. As an S-rank Valkyrie, she typically wouldn't deploy for minor Honkai outbreaks—only when confronted with powerful, difficult-to-handle Honkai Beasts would she personally take action.

In autopilot mode, the Moonlight Throne soon departed Canghai City. On board, Bronie and Xier kept close, lost in conversation about the past.

Kiana was similarly clinging to Mei's arm, chattering happily. If this had been before, Bronie would already have scolded Kiana's behavior—but this time, she paid no mind.

Meanwhile, the other Bronie used her hacking skills on the ship's computer to infiltrate this world's network, gathering information about it.

"Moonlight Throne… I wonder if I can get schematics from Anti-Entropy."

Daniel Davis, for his part, was examining the Moonlight Throne, especially its energy supply. Being a relic from the previous civilization, the Moonlight Throne possessed tremendously formidable capabilities.

"It suddenly strikes me that this world's technology pretty much all stems from archaeological finds…"

Schicksal's Overseer traveled around excavating remnants of the previous civilization. With the giant library of the Void Archives at his disposal, he could presumably acquire any knowledge he wanted.

As for Anti-Entropy's mechs—seemingly that "Heaven Father" originated from some ancient site as well.

"Theresa."

When the Moonlight Throne landed at St. Freya Academy, the figure welcoming them bore a giant golden cross on her back. Upon seeing her, the other Bronie instinctively called out.

Theresa, hearing her voice, turned and smiled warmly in response. She then immediately instructed the medical team to take the wounded to the hospital. Kiana and Mei helped transport the injured.

Bronie, due to her earlier episode of being controlled, also needed a thorough exam; Xier naturally accompanied her. Soon, only Daniel Davis and the other Bronie remained on-site.

"Sorry to keep you waiting."

Once everyone else had left, Theresa approached and carefully sized up the other Bronie.

"No worries—this is important business, after all."

"This is the situation: right now we lack any official ID in this place, and we have no money for this world. I was wondering if you could let me work here. Also, she needs to attend school. Before coming, we learned something about this academy. Would you allow her to enroll?"

"What? You want me to go to school here? Why? That's not the reason I came," the other Bronie protested immediately upon hearing she'd have to attend classes.

"In order for you to better understand this world. Even if you've already learned a bit about it through your abilities, reading about it online and experiencing it in person are two very different things."

"…Fine."

Though she sounded dissatisfied, the other Bronie ultimately relented.

"Having her here as a student is, of course, no problem. As for work… I'll need to think it over."

Theresa was delighted at the idea of the other Bronie attending St. Freya but was momentarily stumped on how to employ Daniel Davis.

"Let me introduce myself properly. I'm a doctor—an excellent one."

Daniel Davis had already prepared for this. It was easy enough for him to remain at St. Freya Academy, but gaining access to the academy's confidential matters was trickier. If he served as a doctor, however, that might be different.

In this world, Valkyries primarily relied on Stigmata to fight, and doctors had the easiest path to encountering Stigmata firsthand. Moreover, there was also Himeko's physical condition to consider.

He knew full well the state of Wuliangta Himeko's body. Because she did not naturally possess a Stigma, she had received an artificially implanted one, which came with a host of drawbacks. Continuous combat had drastically shortened her lifespan. In the end, The Last Lesson was the final blaze of her life.

Now that he was in this world, Daniel Davis wouldn't let Himeko face an early grave. Treating her promptly was undoubtedly easiest if he was a doctor.

"If you don't believe me, Headmistress, we can test my skills right now."

Seeing Theresa's hesitation, Daniel Davis spoke up again.

"Alright."

Theresa was a woman of action. With that, she led Daniel Davis and the other Bronie to St. Freya Academy's affiliated hospital.

Though labeled an academy, St. Freya was more accurately a small, fully functional town with all manner of facilities: a hospital, shopping center, supermarket, and so forth.

"Setting everything else aside, this equipment is definitely advanced."

As a facility that primarily treated Valkyries, its medical equipment was top-notch—Theresa, after all, was Otto's granddaughter, and Otto happened to dote on her. That alone guaranteed better resources.

In all honesty, without Otto's backing, Theresa likely wouldn't have been able to establish St. Freya Academy. She simply couldn't have raised the necessary funds. And even with financial support, it was mainly because she was the granddaughter of Schicksal's Overseer.

"These Valkyries of this world… sigh."

Arriving at the hospital, Daniel Davis didn't immediately begin treating patients. First, he spent some time familiarizing himself with the environment—and what he discovered drew a deep sigh from him.

With advanced medical equipment, anything short of severed limbs could generally be treated. Yet that wasn't the fundamental issue for Valkyries. The crux of the matter was the invasive nature of Honkai energy, from artificially implanted Stigmata or from the corrosion experienced in battles against Honkai. In truth, most Valkyries were gambling with their lives in fights against Honkai Beasts.

From the data he accessed, it seemed the majority of frontline Valkyries rarely lived beyond thirty, assuming they weren't killed in action first.

Of course, that mainly referred to those who had received artificially implanted Stigmata. Valkyries with naturally complete Stigmata faced no such concern.

"I never imagined that even in this era, there is still no real cure for Honkai sickness…"

Daniel Davis knew about Honkai sickness from Su's trial for Ulandal. He had once assumed that was merely a trial scenario—but it turned out to be reality. It still took the resources of a thousand individuals just to create one dose of medicine for one patient.

Still, remembering the nature of Honkai energy, it was understandable why there was no definitive cure, as it wasn't a standard disease.

Daniel Davis could, of course, treat Honkai sickness—but only by using his own powers, not with medication. And how many people could he save that way?

Consider Wuliangta Himeko. Even if Daniel Davis had never appeared, she wasn't entirely beyond saving—for instance, using the divine key Black Abyss White Flower could have cured her. But there was no reason for Otto to do that for her, as Himeko didn't represent enough value to him.

Of course, though there was no medicine to cure the Honkai invasion, at least there were drugs to alleviate or temporarily block it.

"I'm sorry… I can only ease their pain a bit."

He admitted readily that he had no better solutions for dealing with the Honkai invasion medically.

Nevertheless, he had still done what he could: a few Valkyries in critical condition and on the brink of death were brought back from the verge. Some were barely twenty years old. Having encountered them, Daniel Davis couldn't stand idly by.

"You've done exceptionally well. As of today, you are officially employed here."

Seeing those Valkyries pulled back from death's door, Theresa was visibly moved. Originally, she had already steeled herself for their sacrifice.

Every Honkai eruption to date had been marked by Valkyrie casualties. Never once had they emerged unscathed.

"Bronie!"

In a private, single-occupancy patient room on the top floor of St. Freya's affiliated hospital, Daniel Davis spotted Xier feeding oranges to Bronie, who was lying in a hospital bed. From the look on Bronie's face, she was thoroughly enjoying Xier's care—an atmosphere brimming with sweetness.

Meanwhile, on the other side, Kiana and Mei were displaying their own affectionate closeness.
