"If there's nothing more, then I'll take my leave."
Seeing Kevin's silent stance, Daniel Davis prepared to leave with Bronie and Xier. In unnecessary circumstances, he didn't wish to confront Kevin.
As a warrior from a pre-civilizational era who fought against Honkai to protect humanity, Daniel Davis held Kevin in high regard. Yet, despite his respect, the moment the thought of Kevin executing his "Savior's Seal Project" arose, Daniel Davis knew he couldn't allow Kevin to simply walk away from the Quantum Sea.
"From what you're saying, you can leave the Quantum Sea," Kevin finally spoke as he observed Daniel Davis and his companions starting to depart.
"True, but I won't allow you to leave here to carry out that so-called Savior's Seal Project."
"It seems you know a lot. I've already given them ample time—but it's a pity they didn't seize this opportunity."
Kevin's words, though they might be unintelligible to others, were understood by Daniel Davis, who, familiar with Kevin's past, grasped his meaning.
The Savior's Seal Project had been planned by Kevin as far back as fifteen hundred years ago, only to be halted by Su. Of course, part of the reason was that even Kevin himself was reluctant to execute it—a move of going with the flow. Although Su was one of the Thirteen Heroes of the Flame Chaser, his strength was vastly inferior to Kevin's. Even armed with two divine keys, Su was no match.
In the end, it was Kevin who froze the Heavenly Fire Judgment and willingly allowed himself to be exiled to the Quantum Sea. Now, fifteen hundred years later, seeing humanity make little progress in combating Honkai—and with someone like Greento never having made anti-Honkai efforts his primary goal—Kevin naturally desired to revive the Savior's Seal Project. Even if the civilization's destruction wasn't imminent, he needed to prepare in advance for the end times.
"Opportunity... Hmph, we're leaving."
Daniel Davis, eyeing Kevin exuding a frigid aura, snorted coldly. Gripping Bronie and Xier firmly in each hand, he charged off into the distance.
Convincing Kevin to abandon the Savior's Seal Project was impossible—unless Doctor Mei were resurrected, which was sadly out of the question since she had died fifty thousand years ago.
Since persuading Kevin was futile and Daniel Davis wished to avoid a meaningless battle, retreat was his only option.
"Is that the monster that Ban Ya took down? By the way, Kevin can control Honkai Beasts—no, wait, this is the Quantum Sea, so it should be a Quantum Shadow."
Barely a hundred meters after Daniel Davis had left with Bronie and Xier, a thunderous roar echoed. A gigantic creature blocked their path. It looked like a massive skeletal beast, somewhat reminiscent of an incomplete Susanoo.
"Hey, what's with this giant thing? Are you okay?" Bronie called out in worry at the sudden appearance of the colossal monster.
"Don't decide for me on your own—I never agreed to leave with you," Xier retorted sharply, her tone laced with irritation. The voice clearly belonged to Black Xier.
"What? You don't want to see your Bronie sister?"
"First, deal with the trouble in front of you," Daniel Davis interjected. Although Black Xier wasn't overly concerned with Bronie, White Xier cared deeply.
"Don't worry—I want to leave, and Kevin won't be able to stop me."
He didn't want to fight Kevin—not out of fear, but because it was unnecessary. Regardless of the Savior's Seal Project, Kevin's own strength was a major asset in combating the end times.
"Everyone, hide," Daniel Davis ordered, releasing Bronie and Xier. With that, his figure soared upward, charging at the nearly thirty-meter-tall monster. Concentrating, he raised his right hand.
"Cunjin Opens the Heavens!"
Dodging the sweeping arm of the gigantic creature, Daniel Davis's punch slammed into its massive chest. With a resounding boom, the creature's entire upper body shattered into fragments.
"Tell me—what is your connection with Fuhua?"
Immediately after witnessing Daniel Davis's strike, Kevin's gaze flickered.
"Guess," Daniel Davis replied with a grin, returning to Bronie and Xier's side after dispatching the monster. "Now, you may leave."
After a moment's silence, Kevin signaled for the trio to depart.
"Who would have thought Fuhua would show such magnanimity…"
Boom.
Just as Daniel Davis was about to say something further, a tremendous explosion resounded from afar. Daniel Davis quickly turned his head. In the dark Quantum space, a massive door-like opening appeared, with light seeping in from above.
"That's…"
Through the glow, Daniel Davis could faintly discern human architecture. Without hesitation, he grabbed Bronie and Xier and sprinted toward the light.
"It's strange—why is Kevin indifferent about this?"
As they advanced, Daniel Davis noticed Kevin still standing his ground. The oddity nagged at him, but there was no time to ponder; whatever lay there was far better than remaining trapped in the Quantum Sea.
Unfortunately, not long after they began their advance, the light vanished. Nevertheless, Daniel Davis pressed on.
After all, rather than wandering aimlessly in the Quantum Sea, it was wiser to investigate this phenomenon. With Kamatéiji's magic at his disposal, even if the light door closed, he knew he could reopen it.
"So that's it—I had been looking in the wrong direction. This world is unlike others. Not only is there the Quantum Sea, but also the Imaginary Tree. That's why I didn't enter a specific world at first—I ended up in the Quantum Sea."
After some investigation, Daniel Davis realized he'd made a huge mistake. The Honkai was undoubtedly situated on the Imaginary Tree, yet he had been searching in the Quantum Sea. Naturally, he found nothing.
"Alright, Xier, this time I'll definitely help you find your Bronie sister."
While the glowing door vanished, Daniel Davis stabilized Xier's condition and, after studying her sacred mark a bit, determined that her error had been revealed. He was now sure they could venture into the Honkai world—indeed, Xier's sacred mark space served as a coordinate.
Every sacred mark space is essentially an imaginary space, and it was through this connection that Daniel Davis pinpointed the coordinates.
Of course, Xier's sacred mark hadn't fully matured yet—it was still in its embryonic stage and hadn't developed into something akin to the sacred mark space of the Caslanna family.
Using the Secret Arcane Gate, the three departed the Quantum Sea and appeared atop a tall building of several dozen stories. Surveying their surroundings, Daniel Davis immediately understood their situation. They had emerged in an area that was clearly in the midst of a Honkai outbreak; fierce battles raged all around.
"I wonder what's happening now… Could it be Changkong City?"
Changkong City's third Honkai collapse had marked the beginning of the Honkai onslaught, but unfamiliar with the environment, Daniel Davis couldn't be sure.
"Who are you? Don't you know how dangerous this place is?"
As Daniel Davis pondered, a fiery red figure suddenly descended from the sky and landed before the trio.
"Bronie, how did you end up here? Wait—you're not Bronie," the newcomer exclaimed in astonishment upon seeing Bronie, only to quickly retract her words.
"Wuliangta Jizi," the figure announced. Clad in flaming red armor with matching short red hair and wielding a massive red greatsword, Daniel Davis immediately recognized her. There wasn't any queen present—otherwise, he might have thought a queen had descended.
"Jizi, what's happened? What do you mean, 'not Bronie'? What's wrong with Bronie?"
While Jizi was shocked by Bronie's condition, her earpiece crackled with urgent inquiry.
"It's nothing—for now, we'll discuss it later."
Jizi swung her blazing greatsword, cutting down three airborne Honkai Beasts rushing toward them.
"This place is perilous. I'll take you to safety," she declared. Despite the many questions swirling in her mind, Jizi suppressed them; this was a battlefield against Honkai Beasts, and she had to focus.
"Is this Honkai?" Bronie gazed over the city's chaotic battles, her face no longer lit with excitement.
"Indeed, this is Honkai," Daniel Davis confirmed with a nod.
"Listen—can't we postpone these discussions?" Jizi scolded as she glared at Daniel Davis and the others chatting casually. Clearly, as an adult compared to Bronie and Xier, she wasn't in the mood for idle chatter.
"Point taken. We'll talk later," Daniel Davis said as he promptly grabbed Bronie and Xier and charged toward an aerial warship roughly a kilometer to the right—the most fiercely contested battleground on the field.
"This can't be!" Jizi began to speak, only to be stunned as she noticed the three seemingly taking flight, vanishing in an instant.
"Jizi, what's happening?"
"I'm not sure," Jizi admitted, equally baffled. With the battle raging, she could only join the assault on the Honkai Beasts with a perplexed expression.
"Seems our luck's on our side—the Three Imperial Houses are here."
Leading Bronie and Xier onto the deck of the warship, Daniel Davis immediately spotted three Valkyries fighting Honkai on the deck. Their distinctive appearances revealed them as the Three Imperial Houses of Honkai: Kiana, Mei, and Bronie.
"Who are you? Bronie, how can there be two Bronies?"
One of the three—a white-haired youth with two braided pigtails—shouted, his gaze flitting between the Bronie beside Daniel Davis and the one on his own side.
"Who are you people?" Among them, Mei remained the most composed, watching Daniel Davis and his companions with wary eyes.
"Xier," Bronie on the other side said, her gaze seemingly ignoring the Bronie identical to her. Her eyes had been fixed solely on Xier from the very beginning.
"Bronie, sister," Xier echoed. Immediately, the two dashed toward each other. In that moment, the barrier of the Quantum Sea was utterly dissolved.
"They're exactly alike," Bronie murmured to herself, tugging at her rabbit-eared hood and whispering under her breath.
"At a time like this, interrupting their reunion would be most unwise. All things return to ashes, as if flames flowing with fire."
Bronie and Xier embraced tightly, tears of joy mingling with relief. Yet the Honkai Beasts had no such intentions. Not wishing to disturb the sisters' reunion, Daniel Davis unleashed a searing flame storm, sweeping away all the Honkai Beasts above the warship in a single, decisive blow.
"Mei, Mei—an Honkai Emperor is advancing toward your position… uh," a voice crackled over the earpiece on Mei's end, stuttering.
"Mei, Kiana—the warship is tilting; it's over the Canghai City below. We must stop its descent!" Shortly after, the earpiece resounded again with urgency.
"Bronie, let's postpone any further talk until we get back. The situation here is critical."
Although Mei was reluctant to interrupt Bronie, sensing the warship's dangerous tilt, she roused the Bronie who had been lost in Xier's embrace.
If it were merely to fend off Honkai Beasts, Mei might not have disturbed Bronie. But now, to prevent the warship from falling, Bronie's intervention was indispensable.
"I understand. Thank you, Mei," Bronie replied, regaining her composure and steeling herself to resolve the crisis quickly so she could later speak at length with Xier.
Thanks to Daniel Davis's earlier intervention, which had swept away the Honkai Beasts, the group reached the warship's control room without incident. There, Bronie immediately connected a heavily modified "Little Rabbit" device to the main computer and began hacking into the control program.
"Hmm, strange—it doesn't require a password."
Logging into the control system with ease, Bronie felt something was amiss. She quickly contacted Jizi via earpiece.
"Be cautious—there might be traps inside."
"Not a single Trojan in sight. Who set this up? Is this warship being handed over for free?"
As Bronie prepared to scrutinize the control program for malware, the Bronie on Daniel Davis's side had already finished her investigation. The two Bronies exchanged glances—a silent contest of wits sparked between them.
In terms of pure hacking skill, the Bronie on Daniel Davis's side might outclass the other; yet, if measured by overall power, that Bronie was not as formidable as the other.
Bronie had been immersed in hacking knowledge since childhood, augmented by her power as the Ruler of Reason. Meanwhile, the other Bronie, though intelligent, had once been an assassin—known as the "Ural Silver Wolf" and even listed on the Karon Registry. Truly, both possessed their unique strengths.
"Here's a letter addressed to Kiana," the Bronie on Daniel Davis's side announced.
She had discovered a letter for Kiana within the main computer. After obtaining consent, she opened it. The letter was brief; it stated that this Moonlight Throne warship was a gift for Kiana.
"I don't know any nouveau riche who'd give me such an enormous warship," Kiana supposedly remarked.
With no leads, the decision was made to use Kiana's birthday to activate the navigation system—at least to set the warship in motion.
But then, an unexpected change occurred. For reasons unknown, the Bronie on the control side suddenly turned ice-cold. Her pupils shifted to red. Although her emotional center had been damaged by experiments—rendering her usually expressionless—this was not mere blankness but a chilling indifference.
Upon seeing Xier, her countenance had softened somewhat before—but now, it was entirely different, as if she were regarding a stranger.
"Has she been controlled?"
Seeing Bronie about to attack Mei, Daniel Davis immediately intervened, knocking her unconscious.
