Power System

Conditions:

In the world of [Cursed Revenant], there are two main ways to become a revenant user. Trauma that's caused physically, mentally, or even emotionally. The second way is if a revenant user unleashes a technique on a non-revenant user, causing them to become a revenant user who can see the system. Once you become a revenant user, no man-made object can even affect you.

The System:

Upon unlocking Revenant, a user is met by a blue screen, almost like one from a video game. They only show stats, skills, and techniques of the user. They also give show messages through either voice or the system's interface. For example, [Innate Technique has Activated!]

SYSTEM INTERFACE

NAME: The name of the user.

TITLE: The title they hold regarding their current power or influence.

PHYSIQUE: The physical body of a revenant user and their strength, stamina, agility, and endurance

REVENANT INPUT: The build up process of gathering energy and storing as power.

REVENANT OUTPUT: The power aspect of unleashing attacks.

REVENANT ENERGY POOL: The amount of energy a user's revenant has.

SKILLS: Different abilities that are forged from the user, and aid them in any type of way possible.

INNATE TECHNIQUE: An innate power that is create as soon as the user is born. The power often reflects the user in some way. Mentally, physically, spiritually, or even emotionally.

Now that you know how revenant users came to be, and how the system messages work. It is now time for the Avatars.

An Avatar is a divine being from any time period. Whether it be from the past, present, or even future. They serve as the teacher, friend, or even family. They are responsible for how a revenant user can grow and change as both a person and a fighter. And once someone meets their avatar, they gain access to a mental domain within their mind. This allows the user to reach new heights through their training. It leaves nothing but their own strength to improve.

Skills: Revenant VS Innate

Skills cannot be bought nor shared. They are earned through hard work and knowledge.

A revenant user has access to two types of skills when it comes to forging and mastering skills. Revenant skills and Innate skills.

Revenant skills are created to aid and amplify a person's fighting style. Or even give them supportive skills like detection or defense. The skills vary from person to person. But they all have something in common: they're designed for the user.

Innate skills are specialized in unlocking and mastering their powers up to a certain threshold, thus unlocking more advanced usages of the technique.

Revenant is a supernatural power system that activates when an individual undergoes a traumatic, near-death, or actual death experience. If their will, convictions, and identity are strong enough, they transcend the boundary of death and awaken as a Revenant User—a being who embodies their trauma and ideals through a unique Innate Technique.

---

Awakening Conditions:

To become a Revenant User, three conditions must be met:

1. Threshold Event: A moment of extreme trauma, near-death, or the loss of one's own life.

2. Unyielding Will: The person must possess a powerful conviction or purpose that refuses to die.

3. Identity Alignment: Their sense of self must be strong enough to manifest a technique that reflects who they truly are.

If these align, the person is "reborn" as a Revenant User—no longer bound by the normal laws of mortality.

Revenant is the main power that connects to the others. Such as Mania, Agony, and even Repaired Will.

The moment someone becomes a revenant user, they cannot be killed by any man-made object. Only the energies of revenant can kill another revenant user.

---

Innate Technique

Each Revenant User gains an Innate Technique, a supernatural ability that:

• Reflects their trauma or death (e.g., someone who drowned might control water or suffocation).

• Embodies their conviction (e.g., someone who died protecting others might gain shielding or sacrificial powers).

• Is unique to them, often evolving with their emotional state or personal growth.

・Passed down from a connection to a revenant user from the Heian period—giving them a greater connection to revenant as a whole.

These techniques are not learned—they are manifested.

---

1. Revenant Core

• A metaphysical "core" formed later or during the awakening process of revenant.

• Stores the user's trauma, conviction, and essence.

• Can be damaged or corrupted if the user loses their way.

2. Echo State

• Revenants can enter an Echo State, a heightened form where they relive their trauma to amplify their power.

• Dangerous: prolonged use can cause mental instability or loss of identity.

3. Revenant Marks

• Physical or metaphysical marks appear on the body (tattoos, scars, glowing sigils).

• These marks evolve as the user grows stronger or experiences new trauma.

4. Revenant Binding

• Revenants can form Bindings with others who share similar convictions.

• These allow for shared techniques, fusion abilities, or emotional resonance boosts.

---

Revenant users can also be split up into 3 categories based on their powers.

Corporeal: Innate techniques that deal with the physical side of supernatural-based abilities. Like manipulating one's own blood to reinforce their own attacks. They mostly involve close to mid-ranged abilities.

Conceptual: Mental conjurations that involve more mid-range to long-range abilities. They typically involve a type of psychic manipulation over anything. Mainly range from complex energies to even causing hallucinations in someone's mind.

Ethereals: Otherworldly abilities that transcend dimensional levels of power, and even have the potential to become a "Transcendental".

But revenant is only the surface with it comes to power. Their are two other energies that both aid and amplify a revenant user's power.

Agony/Repaired Will

Agony is born from the trauma and guilty a user faced when they died or were somehow involved with a deathly trauma. The energy born from agony is nothing but a pathetic mimicry of Repaired Will.

While both heal the mental and physical wounds of user. Along with giving the user a passive healing factor that doesn't require revenant, but rather physical stamina. Repaired Will is permanent and Agony is temporary.

The healing aspect of Agony is slow and short lived. A complete polar opposite of Repaired Will. The healing process of RW (Repaired Will) is fast, and lasts an entire lifetime.

Mania/Malice

When a person becomes used to dealing with a lot of death in their life, or even facing tragedies that slowly begin to break their resolve. The hatred of not being able to do anything about those innocent lives hurts. It's a wound that runs deep and festers a new, and uncontrollable energy.

It causes the user to go into a frenzy state, making them lash out at anything and anyone. The usage of mania is rather random and erratic. But one thing remains the same with any user. The energy is a darker side of revenant. But even darkness can forged into a weapon.

Malice: A mastered and controlled version of Mania. By channelling the energy of the frenzy state, a user's ideals and convictions line up with Malice. It swells up and the energy increases in power and destruction. It's only deserving for those who overcame their emotional weaknesses and used that power for their own reasons, whether for righteousness or even malevolence. Malice follows your will and does the best it can to improve you in the best way possible.
