(AN: I was confined to the hospital for a week last September. By the time I got out, I honestly thought of dropping this more than once. Thoughts that I'm not gonna make it had invaded my mind during confinement and even as I got out and settled at home. It didn't take a full day before I was confined again along with other patients; unfortunately, the hospital does not have private rooms. That was last September. It is now November, and I can honestly say I am still lost. I don't know if I can still write another chapter after this.)
The great audience chamber of Asgard stood in quiet majesty.
Golden pillars stretched toward a ceiling painted with the history of countless victories, while sunlight poured through towering windows overlooking the eternal city. It was a hall fit for kings, where every word carried weight and every decision could shape the fate of worlds.
At the center of the chamber was a throne where a man and a woman sat together.
One had ruled the Nine Realms for thousands of years. The other gave him company and sound counsel in times when his own mind was in chaos. And the most important of all, she gave him love.
The Allfather held Gungnir in his right hand as he regarded Elias with a thoughtful eye.
"So," Odin began, his deep voice echoing gently through the hall, "you want me to give you Svartalfheim?"
"Yes," Elias replied normally, like it wasn't a big deal. Wanda beside him remained silent and watched the spectacle of her boyfriend asking the King of Asgard for a .... bargain?
Odin's brow furrowed at that but quickly recovered and asked.
"I don't understand. Why not Midgard?"
"You must be kidding, Odin," Elias complained.
If it were someone else who called him that, no doubt Odin wouldn't be staying calm as he is right now. But knowing the other party clearly has the stature to address him as such, the same as Yao, so he stayed his hands.
"Midgard is clearly not just a normal backwater planet which the galaxy believed it to be. If it is, then Zeus and other gods from different pantheons wouldn't have left and settled on their very own world called Omnipotence City."
Odin nodded at his words.
"I'm not even going to ask how you know of that, but don't you know that Svartalfheim is already uninhabited?"
"It possesses no thriving civilization. No wealth worthy of mention. The land itself is scarred from ancient war."
"That's exactly why I want it!" Elias exclaimed.
"Since it doesn't have people living in it, then I won't have to worry about ruling over anyone and can simply take ownership of it."
That answer earned the faintest twitch from Odin's beard. Even the Einherjar standing guard exchanged subtle glances.
It was... unexpectedly baffling.
"I have ruled long enough to understand a lot of things."
His single eye narrowed slightly.
"Yet I fail to understand your intentions with this request."
He gestured toward the projection of the Nine Realms floating between them.
"...Can you explain so that I may understand, even just a bit?"
Elias folded his arms comfortably like he was stating the obvious.
"I don't want to govern people."
That answer only deepened Odin's confusion.
"I've seen how kingdoms, sovereign nations, and many other examples of leadership over territories work," Elias continued. "They come with taxes, politics, disputes between nobles or politicians, trade negotiations, rebellions, and endless meetings."
He visibly shuddered.
"It sounds exhausting."
The Allfather stared at Elias incredulously while Frigga chuckled, clearly amused by him.
"So your reason for choosing Svartalfheim..."
"...isn't because you lack ambition, it's because you just don't want the job itself..."
A very long silence.
Odin let out a chuckle.
"As I have said, I have ruled for millennia," he said after composing himself, "and yet, never have I met someone whose first concern about ruling is the office itself!" Odin laughed, and only then did Frigga stop holding back her own.
Elias gave an understanding nod with a very serious expression.
"My freedom is important."
"Haha! I can see that."
The amusement slowly faded from Odin's face as he returned to the matter at hand.
"Regardless," he said, "Svartalfheim remains one of the Nine Realms."
He planted Gungnir firmly upon the floor.
"If I am to relinquish Asgard's claim, I must ask something in return."
Elias had expected that.
"What would you like?"
Odin looked directly into his eyes.
"What can you offer that equals a realm?"
Without another word, Elias extended his right hand.
Space distorted gently above his palm, and a familiar blue glow illuminated the chamber.
The Tesseract appeared.
The room instantly grew quieter.
Even the guards straightened.
Odin's expression changed in recognition of the artifact being presented.
"The Space Stone."
Elias nodded.
"I no longer need it."
That statement would have stunned most beings in existence.
To casually say one no longer required an Infinity Stone...
Odin looked at the cube with apprehension before speaking.
"You would exchange one of the Six Primordial Stones..."
"...for an abandoned realm."
"Seems fair."
Odin shook his head.
"No. Although, technically, Asgard originally had ownership. It still fell to your hands, so I will acknowledge it. But it still does not balance the worth of the exchange."
Elias blinked.
"...No?"
"You lose far more in this exchange than I gain."
The old king slowly descended from his throne.
"The Space Stone is beyond price."
He accepted the Tesseract from Elias with both hands before continuing.
"I will accept your offer."
A brief pause.
"But I shall not take it without balancing the scales."
Elias tilted his head curiously.
Odin smiled faintly.
"You may choose one artifact from my vault."
Now it was Elias' turn to raise an eyebrow.
"Anything?"
"So long as it is from within the vault."
Elias smiled.
"I believe we have a deal."
The two clasped forearms.
The agreement was made.
Svartalfheim would soon have a new ruler, or rather, owner.
.
.
.
.
Not long afterward, the heavy doors to the audience chamber opened once more.
"Elias!"
Thor strode inside with his usual confidence, a broad grin spread across his face.
Beside him walked a woman who looked thoroughly overwhelmed by the grandeur surrounding her.
Jane Foster.
"There you are," Thor laughed. "Father said you had arrived."
Jane offered an awkward smile.
"So... you're the Dark Jedi? Did you really come from the world of Star Wars?"
"What?" Elias was confused. How did she arrive at that thought? Was she the only one?
Thor placed a hand lightly upon her shoulder.
"Elias, allow me to introduce Dr. Jane Foster."
Jane extended a hand.
"It's nice to finally meet you. Thor's told me... well, not much actually."
Thor coughed.
"In my defense, it's difficult explaining Elias."
"It usually is," Elias agreed with a grin as they shook hands.
Elias stepped slightly aside.
"Then let me introduce someone as well."
He smiled toward the woman standing quietly beside him.
"This is Wanda."
Wanda inclined her head politely.
"It's nice to meet both of you."
Jane immediately smiled.
"It's nice to meet you."
The introductions continued pleasantly for another minute before a deep voice interrupted them.
"Elias"
Everyone turned toward Odin and Frigga.
The Allfather looked mildly amused.
"My wife and I have something to inquire of you about your lady."
He looked toward Wanda.
"Wanda Maximoff, was it?" Odin asked..
Elias nodded.
"Yes, of course. What's it about, Odin?"
Odin regarded Wanda quietly longer than courtesy required.
His expression slowly changed. Replaced by contemplation and concern.
His single eye focused not upon Wanda herself, but upon the crimson energy faintly lingering around her.
"...Are you aware of the power residing within her?"
The room grew noticeably quieter.
Thor frowned.
"Father? What do you mean?"
Odin continued studying Wanda.
"The power within her..."
His voice became solemn.
"...its source came way back from the birth of Midgard itself."
Wanda instinctively looked at her hands.
"My... powers?"
Odin nodded slowly.
"It carries the mark of an ancient being who was formed 4 billion years ago."
"Chthon."
Thor frowned, clearly unfamiliar with the name.
Jane looked equally confused.
Only Frigga's gentle smile faded.
"You know of him?" Wanda asked quietly.
"I do."
Odin's gaze remained fixed upon Wanda.
"Long before Asgard united the Nine Realms..."
"There existed entities far older than many gods."
"When Midgard was just newly formed, a primordial sentient life force seeded it with its essence. The first elder gods were spawned from this; one of them was Chthon."
Wanda listened carefully while Elias was very interested; although he watched the movies, he knew less of the comics. So, like a fanboy, he asked.
"Who were his siblings?" Everyone looked at him like he had committed a crime. Clearly, Odin wasn't finished yet. Odin himself was amused.
"The only other Elder gods who survived were Gaea, Set, and Oshtur."
"Survived? From what?" Elias asked again.
"The very first war since Midgard's creation, called the Elder gods War."
"Huh, let me guess. Conflict?" Odin nodded.
"You could say that."
Odin then explained that Set discovered he could grow infinitely stronger by killing his fellow elder gods and consuming them. How, after seeing this, Chthon and most of the other Elder gods quickly followed suit, slaughtering one another to steal each other's essence. This massive wave of genocide corrupted the gods, degenerating them into horrific, power-hungry demons. Only Gaea (who stayed peaceful to protect evolving life) and Oshtur (who was away exploring the cosmos) remained uncorrupted.
Realizing her corrupted siblings would destroy all organic life on Earth, Gaea went to the Demiurge, the sentient life force that created them. She mated with the Demiurge to give birth to a champion: Atum, the god of the Sun.
Atum was specifically designed to kill and consume demons. He embarked on a brutal, worldwide crusade to wipe out the corrupted Elder gods. As Atum slaughtered the demons, he absorbed their dark energies, transforming himself into a terrifying, fiery monster known as the Demogorge (the God-Eater). Atum hunted the demons to near extinction, literally consuming their corrupted life forces to permanently remove them from Earth.
Realizing they could not defeat the Demogorge, the two strongest dark gods engineered separate escape routes to save themselves: Set and Chthon.
Set tore open a rift in space and withdrew into his own pocket dimension, known as the Serpent's Den. Meanwhile, before fleeing into a pocket universe (the Flickering Realm), Chthon inscribed all of his dark, chaotic spells onto indestructible parchment. This became the Darkhold, ensuring his evil influence would forever link back to Earth.
With Chthon and Set exiled and the minor demons consumed, Atum flew into Earth's atmosphere and expelled all the toxic, dark energies he had eaten. This cleansing energy settled into the earth, allowing human evolution to proceed safely. Atum then relocated to the sun, renaming himself Amon-Ra, while Gaea remained behind to watch over the planet.
"And that is how the very first Elder gods' war ended," Odin closed the story.
"This is the very first time you have told me about this, Father. I never knew Ra was that great! All this time, I have only looked at Zeus when there's an even greater god than him!" Thor exclaimed.
"So, even the very first beings on Earth had conflict," Jane commented.
"Yeah, and it was ended by a woman mating with his daddy and having their baby slaughter her 'corrupted' siblings. In a very crude term, fratricide and sororicide were ended by incest and nepoticide." Elias gave his expert analysis.
"I think your focus is way off the point," Wanda said to him. Elias could only rub the back of his head and laugh.
The Allfather slowly walked toward one of the chamber's windows.
He looked back at Wanda.
"The Darkhold."
The name echoed through the hall. Odin's voice became grave.
"As I have mentioned before, it is something Chthon left behind as an anchor or connection to Midgard."
"It can grant power, but for a price and more."
"And I can sense a wisp of it from you. You probably already had an encounter with it, you simply didn't notice."
Wanda unconsciously clenched her hands, unease eating at her heart.
"...Are you saying my powers come from that book?"
Odin slowly shook his head.
"No."
"Your power is your own."
"But something within it..."
"...resonates with Chthon's legacy."
"And that is a path that you must never walk carelessly."
"So, are you saying this Chthon might use Wanda to return to Earth?" Elias finally asked.
"That is just a possibility, but yes."
"I see." Elias held Wanda's hands and looked at her eyes.
"Don't worry, I won't let anything happen to you."
Wanda's growing unease immediately melted, and she responded.
"I trust you."
Everyone else smiled at them; even the Allfather himself was reminded of his youth with Frigga.
.
.
.
The conversation between Elias and the Asgardian royal family had taken an interesting turn. What had initially been a discussion about Wanda's powers and their mysterious origin had gradually shifted toward the nature of Chaos Magic, and that Wanda's abilities were connected to something far older than anyone present could imagine.
While Odin and Elias exchanged their thoughts, however, an entirely different situation was unfolding elsewhere in Asgard.
At the edge of the Bifrost, Loki stood beside Heimdall, seemingly enjoying the quiet moment. His arms were crossed over his chest, and his expression carried its usual hint of arrogance as he listened to the Guardian of the Bifrost explain some recent developments within the Nine Realms.
That peaceful atmosphere did not last long.
Heimdall's expression suddenly changed.
His golden eyes narrowed as he turned his attention toward the vastness of space. Unlike ordinary Asgardians, Heimdall possessed the ability to see and hear things across the Nine Realms, an extraordinary gift that made him the perfect guardian of their kingdom.
And at that moment, something had caught his attention.
"My prince."
The sudden seriousness in Heimdall's voice caught the prince's attention.
"What is it?"
"We are being invaded."
Loki raised an eyebrow, following Heimdall's gaze.
"There."
Heimdall pointed toward a seemingly empty stretch of space. At first, Loki saw nothing unusual, but as he concentrated, he noticed something peculiar. The stars behind a particular section of space appeared distorted, almost as though something enormous was moving in front of them.
An invisible vessel.
It was slowly approaching Asgard, its advanced cloaking technology concealing its presence from the kingdom's ordinary sentries.
Loki stared at it for a moment before the corner of his lips curled upward.
"How rude. Invading someone's home without even announcing your arrival."
He extended one hand, gathering energy in his palm.
A bright sphere of ki began forming between his fingers, growing larger and more concentrated with every passing second. The air around him trembled as the energy accumulated, while Heimdall watched with growing curiosity.
He knew that Loki had received some sort of power from Elias, their new ally. He had even witnessed the prince's increased physical capabilities during their previous encounters.
However, he had never seen Loki demonstrate anything quite like this.
"Let's see how you like this."
With a casual flick of his wrist, Loki released the sphere.
The energy projectile shot forward like a miniature star, crossing the distance between Asgard and the approaching vessel in an instant.
The moment it made contact, the cloaking technology failed.
For a brief moment, the silhouette of the enormous ship became visible before the concentrated ki overwhelmed its defenses.
Then it exploded.
A tremendous flash illuminated the surrounding space, followed by countless fragments scattering in every direction. The explosion was so sudden and violent that even Heimdall found himself momentarily speechless.
He slowly turned toward Loki.
"That was..."
"Nothing particularly impressive," Loki interrupted, lowering his hand. "I barely put any effort into it."
Heimdall studied the prince for another moment.
He had known Loki for centuries. Although the prince was undoubtedly talented in sorcery, his abilities had never been particularly suited for direct physical confrontation. Yet the individual standing beside him now possessed an entirely different kind of power.
It was almost as though he had become an entirely different warrior.
Just what kind of power did Elias give him?
Unfortunately, Heimdall did not have much time to contemplate the matter.
His golden eyes widened as he looked beyond the destroyed vessel.
"My prince! There are more!"
Loki turned his attention toward the approaching fleet.
Indeed, the first ship had merely been a diversion.
Behind it, several smaller vessels were advancing toward Asgard, accompanied by an enormous battleship that dwarfed everything around it. Unlike the first ship, this one was considerably larger, and its presence alone suggested that the enemy had brought enough forces to threaten the kingdom.
Heimdall's expression became grim.
"These are not ordinary raiders."
He immediately established a connection with his King.
Your Majesty. We are under attack. An enemy fleet is approaching Asgard. Their vessels possess cloaking technology, and I believe the first ship was merely a diversion. A considerably larger vessel is following behind it.
Inside the palace, Odin's expression changed as Heimdall's message reached him.
He had been listening to Elias explain his thoughts regarding Wanda's unusual abilities when the Guardian's warning interrupted their conversation.
"What is it?" Frigga asked, noticing her husband's expression.
Odin looked toward Elias.
"We have visitors."
Elias tilted his head.
"Visitors?"
"An enemy fleet has appeared near Asgard. Heimdall has identified several vessels approaching our kingdom, including one of considerable size."
For a moment, Elias remained silent.
Then, as though he had suddenly remembered something, he smiled.
"Ah. So they've finally arrived."
Odin narrowed his eye.
"You know who they are?"
Elias leaned back slightly, his expression becoming somewhat amused.
"They should be the dark Elves whom your father failed to finish. If my memory serves me correctly, they're here for something that currently happens to be inside Jane Foster."
Jane immediately looked at him.
"Inside me?"
"The Aether," Elias explained.
Thor's expression immediately darkened.
"Then they shall not leave this place alive."
"Now, now. There's no need to get ahead of ourselves."
Elias raised one hand, gesturing for Thor to calm down before turning toward Odin.
"Odin, I would like to make a request."
"Speak."
"Regarding our previous arrangement, I believe we can make a small adjustment."
Odin regarded him curiously.
"You mean the exchange involving the Space Stone?"
"Precisely. Rather than selecting another treasure from your vault in exchange for the stone I returned, I'd like to take care of these little flies myself."
Elias smiled.
"In return, I would like ownership of their technology, their vessels, and whatever useful equipment they happen to bring with them."
Odin considered the request for only a moment.
Then he nodded.
"Agreed. If you can deal with this invasion, everything belonging to the invaders shall be yours."
"Excellent. I knew we would reach an understanding."
Elias smiled before closing his eyes.
There was no need to personally travel to the battlefield. He already had someone there who could handle the situation.
Through their established connection, he immediately sent a command.
Loki.
The prince, who was observing the approaching fleet, immediately recognized the familiar voice.
My Lord.
Take care of the Dark Elves. However, leave their ships intact. I want their technology, so try not to destroy anything that can still be used.
Loki's lips curled upward.
As you wish, my Lord.
You also have permission to summon reinforcements from your generals. In particular, I want you to bring out the Facehuggers.
There was a brief pause before Elias continued.
I haven't had the opportunity to see them evolve yet. It would be rather interesting to see what kind of Xenomorph would emerge from a Dark Elf. Perhaps even one of their cursed warriors.
Loki's smile widened.
An interesting experiment indeed, my Lord.
The connection ended.
And the moment it did, Loki's entire presence changed.
His spiritual energy surged, spreading outward like an invisible storm. The air around him trembled, and a faint smile remained on his face as he looked toward the enormous battleship.
Heimdall glanced at him.
"What are you planning?"
"My Lord has decided to give me permission to play."
Before Heimdall could ask what he meant, Loki rose into the air.
He shot forward, accelerating toward the approaching fleet with astonishing speed. The smaller vessels remained untouched as he passed them, his attention fixed entirely on the largest ship.
It was an enormous target, and there was no reason to waste time dealing with the smaller vessels individually.
Besides, Elias had specifically requested that their technology remain intact.
As Loki approached, the battleship's defensive systems activated. Several weapons emerged from its hull, and a barrage of energy blasts immediately followed.
Loki tilted his body, effortlessly evading the incoming projectiles.
One blast passed just above his shoulder, another missed his head by a considerable distance, while a third exploded behind him.
He continued forward without slowing down.
"Is that all?"
A moment later, he reached the vessel's entrance.
Rather than destroying his way inside, Loki simply waited until the enormous doors began opening to accommodate the ship's defensive deployment.
He slipped through the opening before the doors could close.
Inside, he was immediately greeted by dozens of Dark Elves.
Their weapons were already raised, and their blasters were pointed directly at the expected intruder.
Loki looked around.
There were perhaps fifty of them in the immediate area, all dressed in their dark armor and carrying their advanced weapons.
His expression remained completely relaxed.
"Time to evolve."
The Dark Elves did not understand what he meant.
They did not need to.
"Fire!"
A barrage of energy blasts immediately filled the corridor.
Loki simply moved.
His body blurred as he weaved between the incoming projectiles, occasionally turning his head or shifting his shoulders to avoid attacks that came dangerously close.
When he grew tired of dodging, he raised one hand.
A concentrated blast of ki erupted from his palm, sweeping across the corridor and forcing several Dark Elves to scatter.
Others continued firing.
Loki casually swatted their attacks aside with his hands, his newly acquired Saiyan abilities allowing him to withstand and redirect the energy without suffering any injuries.
To him, their weapons were little more than toys.
Then something unexpected happened.
A series of spatial distortions appeared throughout the corridor.
One after another, creatures dropped onto the ship's floor.
The first to emerge were the Facehuggers.
Hundreds of them.
Their long, spindly legs immediately carried them toward the nearest living beings, their tails dragging behind them as they scuttled across the metallic floor.
Behind them came the Xenomorphs.
Their elongated heads, razor-sharp claws, and powerful bodies made them terrifying creatures even before they began moving. Their dark exoskeletons reflected the dim lighting of the ship, while their inner jaws clicked impatiently.
The Dark Elves immediately turned their weapons toward the newcomers.
But before they could properly organize their defenses, the creatures attacked.
The corridor descended into chaos.
The Xenomorphs moved with frightening speed, leaping toward the Dark Elves and knocking them off their feet. Their claws tore through armor, while their powerful tails wrapped around limbs and dragged soldiers away from their formations.
However, they did not immediately kill their victims.
Instead, they deliberately incapacitated them.
Some Dark Elves were pinned against the walls, others were dragged across the floor, while a few were left barely conscious, unable to move their limbs.
That was precisely what the Facehuggers needed.
They rushed toward the helpless soldiers, their bodies springing forward as they attached themselves to their victims' faces.
The Dark Elves struggled, but the creatures' tails tightened around their necks, preventing them from removing their unwanted passengers.
Loki watched the entire spectacle from above, floating casually in the air with his arms crossed.
He had no intention of participating.
After all, this was an experiment.
And he was rather curious about its results.
Farther inside the battleship, the scene was being observed by its commander.
Malekith stood before a large viewing screen, his expression growing increasingly unpleasant with every passing moment.
Beside him stood his retainers, who were equally disturbed by the unexpected development.
"What are those creatures?" Malekith demanded.
None of his subordinates could provide an answer.
Their weapons were designed to deal with conventional enemies, not these strange organisms that seemed capable of overwhelming their soldiers through sheer numbers and physical strength.
Even worse, their formation had completely collapsed.
The Dark Elves could not use their gravity grenades effectively. With so many of their own soldiers mixed among the creatures, detonating them would cause unacceptable casualties.
It was an unexpected ambush, and one that had caught them completely unprepared.
Malekith gritted his teeth.
His gaze shifted toward the figure floating above the battlefield.
The intruder, Loki.
Unlike the creatures attacking his soldiers, that individual seemed entirely unconcerned with the situation.
He was simply watching.
As though the slaughter unfolding before him was nothing more than entertainment.
"Who is that?"
Again, nobody answered.
Malekith's expression darkened.
He had not come all this way to lose his forces to some unknown enemy.
"Send the Cursed Ones."
The retainers exchanged glances.
"How many, my lord?"
"Two."
One of the retainers stepped forward and gave the order.
"Send two Cursed!"
The transformation of a Dark Elf into one of the Cursed Ones was not something that could be easily reversed.
It began with a specially prepared stone, marked with ancient Elven patterns and infused with a corrupted form of energy.
When crushed, the stone released its contents into the body of the wielder, triggering a violent transformation that permanently altered their physical structure.
Their bodies grew larger and considerably more muscular, while hardened protrusions emerged along their shoulders and other parts of their bodies. Their teeth sharpened, their fangs lengthened, and their faces became increasingly monstrous.
Even their eyes changed.
But the most significant alteration was not their appearance.
The transformation dramatically increased their physical strength, durability, and aggression, turning them into formidable warriors capable of overwhelming ordinary opponents.
However, the process came at a cost.
The energy permanently corrupted their bodies, making the transformation irreversible. Once a Dark Elf became one of the Cursed Ones, there was no returning to their original form.
They were no longer ordinary soldiers.
They were weapons.
By the time the slaughter inside the battleship began to subside, the number of surviving Dark Elves had dwindled to approximately fifty.
The Xenomorphs had done their job remarkably well.
One hundred Facehuggers and one hundred Xenomorphs had been more than enough to overwhelm the soldiers, especially when the element of surprise had been on their side.
Loki continued floating above the battlefield, observing the remaining enemies.
Then he noticed two Dark Elves stepping forward.
Unlike the others, they were not carrying ordinary weapons.
Each held a small stone decorated with intricate Elven patterns.
Loki tilted his head.
"Oh?"
The two Dark Elves exchanged a brief glance.
They knew what they had to do.
Without hesitation, both clenched their fists and crushed the stones in their hands.
The transformation began immediately.
Their bodies convulsed as the energy spread through them, causing their physiques to expand. Their muscles grew considerably larger, and hardened spikes protruded along their shoulders. Their faces twisted as their jaws extended, revealing elongated fangs that protruded from their mouths.
Within moments, the two Dark Elves had become something entirely different.
The Xenomorphs noticed the change.
Several immediately rushed toward the newcomers, their claws scraping against the metallic floor as they accelerated.
The first Cursed One stepped forward.
Just as the leading Xenomorph lunged toward him, he raised both hands and caught the creature in midair.
Then, with a powerful motion, he hurled it backward.
The Xenomorph flew through the air and crashed into two others charging behind it, sending all three tumbling across the corridor.
The second Cursed One moved at almost the same time, intercepting another approaching creature with a powerful strike.
For the first time since the battle began, the Xenomorphs had encountered opponents capable of matching their physical strength.
And Loki, still floating above them, finally showed a more genuine smile.
"Now this should be interesting."
