Chapter 869 - Chapter 869: Crime City (Part 4)

The nightclub was raided due to the drug incident, and as expected, its internal surveillance footage ended up in the hands of the Korean police.

The next morning, after seeing off the FBI's Most Wanted task force on their flight, Jack arrived at the Seoul Metropolitan Police Department and headed to the Metropolitan Investigation Unit's office.

Inside, Ma Seok-do and several colleagues were huddled around a computer monitor, watching the surveillance footage.

"This footage quality sucks. You can't even see the guy's face," Seok-do complained, just as he looked up and noticed Jack entering.

"Hey, get our guest a cup of tea—use the imported Chinese one." He waved to a junior officer, then personally pulled up a chair for Jack.

Jack settled in comfortably at an empty desk. "Any leads?"

Seok-do slapped a wanted notice onto the table. "At least Prosecutor Kim authorized us to keep investigating."

Jack picked up the paper, scanning it. The charge read:

"Wanted for Drug Smuggling, Distribution, and Murder Suspect"

No name, no ID—just a suspect sketch drawn from surveillance footage.

He raised an eyebrow, questioning the logic. "So… this is enough to catch someone in Korea?"

"Hell no! There are millions of people in this country. How the hell would we find him just from this?" Seok-do scratched his head frustratedly before calling over another junior officer.

"You. Bring the nightclub owner in."

The officer nodded respectfully and left the room.

Jack took the opportunity to observe the office.

It was pretty standard—a small open-space setup, with about a dozen desks. The walls were lined with glass partitions, and there was even a security camera mounted on a pillar in the middle of the room.

The whole layout and decor looked almost identical to a Chinese police station, down to the blue stripe stickers on the glass doors.

Before long, the nightclub owner—now uncuffed—strolled in with an arrogant swagger.

The red mark on his neck—left by Seok-do grabbing his collar the night before—was still visible.

Seok-do pushed the wanted notice toward him, looking impatient.

"One more time. Do you know this guy or not?"

"Your employee says he's the supplier of the drugs. If you don't cooperate, you'll get your ass kicked. Got it?"

The nightclub owner remained silent for a moment before tilting his head back and snorting disdainfully.

"It's not that I don't want to tell you. I really don't know."

His tone suddenly got louder, typical of how Koreans sound like they're arguing when they talk.

"Some bad employees secretly sell drugs behind their boss's back. How the hell am I supposed to control that? Huh?"

Seok-do's arm twitched, and the surrounding officers tensed up—one of them even started signaling him with frantic eye gestures, reminding him about the security camera in the room.

Jack, watching from the side, could barely hold back a laugh.

He saw Seok-do clench his fist… then loosen it… then clench it again… several times before finally suppressing his anger.

Meanwhile, the nightclub owner, now emboldened, became even more arrogant.

"Ah, seriously—you Korean cops are trash. Just dragging innocent people in for interrogation like this. What the hell? You even threatened me with violence. This is police brutality! No wonder the public hates you and calls you pigs!"

As he continued running his mouth, even the unit commander, Jang Tae-soo, walked over with arms crossed, chuckling as he watched the show unfold.

The nightclub owner got so caught up in his rant that he didn't notice an officer pouring tea for Jack.

Instead, he licked his lips, then glared at the officer.

"Hey! You! Go get me a coffee! What, you only kiss up to foreigners but treat your own countrymen like shit?"

The young officer froze, confused. "Huh? Me?" He looked around, pointing at himself.

Commander Jang Tae-soo burst into laughter. "Yep, he means you."

The entire office erupted into laughter, with some officers pointing at the nightclub owner like he was a clown.

Seok-do glanced at the security camera, hesitating again.

Jang Tae-soo, suddenly worried, warned him.

"Hey, hey, hey! If you block the camera again, you're screwed."

Jack, grinning, got up from his seat and walked over to the pillar.

With a light tug, he unplugged the camera's power cord.

"Why the hell do police offices in Korea have security cameras? Even cops have privacy rights, right?"

SMACK!

THUMP!

Before anyone could react, the nightclub owner was sprawled across a desk, twitching, with a fresh handprint on his face.

Commander Jang Tae-soo immediately put on a show.

"AHH, SHIT! What happened? Did his chair break?! Quick—help him up!"

"Yo, you good?"

"Damn, did he faint?"

"Hey, man, wake up! You can't just pass out like that!"

"Help him up! Maybe he had a stroke!"

As Tae-soo hopped onto a chair, struggling to plug the camera back in, the nightclub owner—now utterly terrified—was being hoisted up by multiple officers.

"I WAS WRONG! I WAS WRONG!"

Seok-do dragged him upright by the collar, forcing him to sit properly.

"Then let's start over."

The nightclub owner, voice suddenly firm, spilled everything.

"That guy is one of our VIPs. He comes every week."

"He spends a shit ton of money, so I looked the other way when he took drunk girls out of the club. I fucked up. I'm sorry!"

"Keep going." Seok-do pulled out his notebook, ready to take notes.

The nightclub owner's face froze. "That's all."

Jack, deadpan, reached for the security camera cord again.

"I think the camera's positioning is off. Maybe we should adjust it."

"I'LL GET A LADDER!" Commander Tae-soo pretended to search for one.

"WAIT, WAIT, WAIT! PLEASE—I'LL TALK!"

The nightclub owner practically sobbed as he grabbed Seok-do's sleeve.

Seok-do coldly stared at him, then slowly sat back down.

"Go on."

"That guy's name is Guangzhi. He's a Japanese-born Korean. He and his partner started dealing drugs here last year."

"They pay well, so I let them in. But I swear, our nightclub doesn't sell drugs. I swear!"

"Where is he now?"

"If not in Gangnam, then Incheon. I don't know exactly. But—I have his phone number."

Seok-do snapped his notebook shut and stood up.

"Alright. Track his phone. I'll handle Gangnam. Who's going to Incheon?"

Commander Jang Tae-soo enthusiastically volunteered.

"I'LL GO! You and FBI can handle it here."

Seok-do raised an eyebrow, surprised at his sudden motivation. Then he glanced at Jack.

"Alright, then. Let's do this."
