Eli moved to the end of the bed and checked me again. His facial expression hardened.
"What?" I snapped, already breathing harder. "Why are you looking at me like that? Say it."
His eyes lifted to mine. "It's time."
My heart dropped to the ground.

"What do you mean, time?" I bit out, acting oblivious. "Time for what exactly? Use your words."
"It's time to push, Amelia."
Clara looked emotional, which felt concerning.
“This is really happening.”
Why was she about to cry when I was the one down here doing all the work?
Tara surged up inside me, "Quit panicking and push."
"Easy for you to say," I shot back in my head. "You're sitting in there being comfortable while I get ripped open."
"This is my pup too. Stop whining and let us do our job."
Eli’s command pulled me out of my banter, "Amelia, when the next one builds, you push with it."
