Chapter 266 - 266 - Amusement 4

*

Those two only arrived some time after I did. Among all the magical girls in residential zone 2a, I would be the one with the most experience. Even so, I admired their radiance ever more.

Aura is at a safe distance away. So much for being an Observer, the moment I teleported it started thrashing blindly. It didn't seem. To have detection skills, this degraded form has nothing but that wide array laser beam. I stood in front of it, drawing its attention, concluding its rampage at last. It charges up a beam, but I {Swap} myself away as naturally as breathing. I watch a massive pillar of light radiate out of this grotesque emaciated eyeball in the sky. Black tendrils and veins coil all around the back, forming a massive fleshy tail that isn't appropriate for those with weak stomachs.

The eyeball itself isn't spherical, it looked more like countless tumours attach to each other, akin to one of those balloon animals sold at this park. Tied at various points and full of bumpy surfaces with no continuation. If the pupil were to be taken as the north pole, the equatorial region was completely submerged in black sludge and fleshy tendrils, leaking a viscous blood like fluid en masse and coating the ground below in a disgusting looking flood.

With a swipe of my hand, I specified a set of precise coordinates and swapped the positions of massive plots. Throwing down a ferris wheel from the sky at The Observer. It turned up, the pupil faced the sky like a puppy, then it charged into a headbutt. Naturally its surface was harder than most known materials, deforming the ferris wheel in its entirety. I swapped into a small gap of air inside the ferris wheel, using the large steel beams as cover. Then with my fist, I punched the beam under my feet, driving it into the eye. The surface crumpled a little under the pressure, but did pretty much no damage. I hopped away in retreat, and when I looked back at that spot, it had already healed completely.

Troublesome. What a pain. However as long as I'm alive, it'll be possible to win. That's the conviction a magical girl must carry. Eterna, are you watching? Even the sentinels believed you were dead, they didn't know much of what happened back then, believing that the person who killed you was The Invader. In the end, you must have prepared a backup didn't you? Maybe your being is far more intertwined with your authority than other rulers or deities, still, you made Lastia deal the killing blow. For that, even I can't forgive you.

The sentinels are less involved with the government than I thought. They hunt the bad magical girls, and other than that they're mostly independent like us. It's just that their hunting range extends far beyond than those of a normal magical girl's. They don't have school so their schedule has more freedom, and they're paid by the world government a lavish amount... In a way, their lives were kind of nice and free.

I landed on the ground a distance away, before swapping to another location. A black tentacle smashes through the ground of where I once was, pulverising the concrete back into its constituent dust, sending debris raining into the sky. I haven't stopped training since last time, I was already on the verge of reaching A grade then, and I think after fighting this foe I've finally confirmed that I reached it. My senses feel sharp like a blade poised in the air, information of my surroundings effortlessly trickle into my mind, sorting itself into usable and unusable data. I'm even aware of Aura's position and what face she's making right now, my sense for magical particles has just improved that much, to the point I understand...

Oblivion Magia, an ancient technique that maps out the user's mind into a sub dimension of their own making. 'Events' turned out to be a close application of this technology... Well, I call it tech because it's as sophisticated as a modern invention, but it's innate to all magical girls who reach A grade. It's something I have to master just to stand on the same stage as those sentinels. Those girls... Even though their stats were lower they weren't worried when The Invader manifested their true power, they still had this trump card if everything went as dire as possible.

An 'Event' is a subdimension, a small dimension take physically and temporally takes place within the larger dimension called reality, a subset if you will. In that regard it is exactly like an Oblivion Magia, but it can be deployed anywhere without the user's presence which is a big distinction. If the magical girl failed to kill the Trace, the 'Event' itself would crush it into nonexistence, or maybe Eterna will step in herself. That's why... For the history of the era of abundance, there hasn't been a single time where a Trace broke out of an 'Event' and wreak havoc...

I don't sense anyone nearby, so perhaps this was the perfect chance. I stood close and centre in front of The Observer. An old for that spewed out minions in the past, both troublesome outside and inside its own pocket dimension. Thanks to that, it could even bypass 'Event' back then, even its minions escaped. It stares back at my countenance, not a trace of intelligence was left in its being. It was acting on instinct back then too, a will degenerated by time, but even then it acted accordingly to battle and knew how to fight.

Someone did a rushed job, it's only so easy to delay and suppress now because of that. This... It really pisses me off. Even if I kill it solo, my achievement will always be demeaned by 'weakened', 'incomplete revival' etc. So I will crush it thoroughly with this power, power I clawed at the world to get.

"Oblivion, Magia!!" (Sariel)

A land of black spreads forth from Sariel's feet, enveloping the tall dull buildings and the sky. The Observer reacts instinctively, sending out green light to counteract Sariel's advance. Likely, that was the deployment of its own Oblivion Magia. Even a husk of a husk, pitiful as it is, could manage this much. Just what kind of monster was the original? What if it had been fully revived like The Invader?

"From the very start, there was only the option to fight!" (Sariel)

Black poles shot out of the ink dark ground, tracing the air like circuits in a diagram. They blast through all obstacles and approach the massive floating eye.
