Inevitability, it's a curse. A plague that gets attached to an unlucky host to suffer the world's misfortune. Human suffering, inequality, scarcity, none of that could be removed without first eliminating humanity. The only reason it could occur in the era of abundance, was because the humanity there were a fundamentally different species...
[I wanted to ask, when your humanity inevitably ends and you face the world's demise, what would you do?
Reincarnation into a subspecies, the curse of {P**de}, advent of the lordless kings, Entity Crisis Primordial... But now, no question could do justice for what you accomplished anymore...]
A memory and a disembodied voice lingers in this infinite darkness, devoid of will and life, sapping her warmth. It spoke sweetly and forlornly, as if restraining itself. The voice caused her spine to tingle, caressing her senses as it seeped directly into the mind.
[... Good luck then, you'll have no issue facing the past.]
The darkness recedes, absorbed into a singular point of sudden flashing light. These was the memory of the world, of the end of the world. The end that once occurred, the end that will never occur again. Eventually, the darkness ran out and the light swallowed everything whole. She wasn't allowed to close her eyes, did she have eyelids then? Or even. A physical body?
Information was sent straight to her mind, and the excess naturally damaged it. Causing a feeling like she was stabbed in the head, it was unbearable searing hot agony. She couldn't scream, couldn't yell for help, couldn't press her palms against her skull. She couldn't do anything but experience it, pain engulfing her mind and purpose, leaving nothing unturned. It scrambled any chance of thought forming, leaving her suffering and mentally foaming.
She opened her eyes, greeted by another sky, one she had never seen. It was filled with stars, countless quantities of them, each shining ever brightly. She felt like she had woken up from a dream. Fresh from the agony plaguing every facet of her soul, torment so vivid it seemed like it lasted for eternity. Memory, objectives, dreams, everything was gone. To return to the past, one must be reborn. Reborn as themselves.
Why did stars dot the night sky? How were there so many? The sea was so dense with light, she could have sworn more stars were still surfacing from the underlying darkness, eventually filling it up so much that the night sky would be nothing but a sheet of light. She was laid flat against the grassy ground when she woke up. Strangely enough, she felt... Wet. Drenched from head to toe. Was it sweat? Blood? How many souls has she vanquished?
Despite losing the ability of civility, despite once again having nothing but instinct, she understood the significance of life and death. Supposedly the desire to live was apart of that instinct, being able to form words or think coherently wasn't necessary after all. So she stood up, eyeing the presence in front of her. Once more, those words ring in her head.
[When your humanity ends]
[What would you do?]
[You face the world's demise]
[Issue]
[Advent]
[Entity Crisis]
She's been treated as an Invader for this society... For this universe. Yet so, she will call out to hope from the empty void, her heart doesn't understand the treatment nor that her name had been mentioned, it only held hope. Out of sheer instinct, her words resonated while lacking linguistics.
"Transform!" (Lastia)
The hostile being before her grew hesitant. Why had its prey stood back up? Why had she transformed? Nevertheless, it does not know fear, only contemplation. It fed on fear without understanding what it stood for others, a high level spirit that fed on magic and mental energy, it's belligerent nature would classify it as an intelligent demon. One that made a deal to promise the world's end. The last obstacle was to be hunted down, to be devoured and usurped. Not knowing death, it charged.
Her combat dress has not changed one bit, neither did her nature. Despite losing the capability for intelligent thought, for speaking and functioning in society, she strives for the future of this planet. Activating {Envy} without words, a great sword forms in her hands as the demon charged. The land itself is dangerous, spawning such a creature that could end the world the moment Lastia gained consciousness. It will be cleansed.
She didn't need rationality or anything fancy to determine filth must be excised. Kill or be killed is simple as can be. Red lightning flashes, in a single thrust vibrant ruby red light covered half the sky with unfettered violence, ionising the air and heating the surroundings. Both the creature and her were A grade, if anything its promise to end the world would have to be fulfilled conceptually. With a reinterpretation, it could be achieved by merely ending humanity.
"GUURYAAAAHHHHH!!!! " (?)
It screamed as its spiritual body was assimilated into a combustion reaction, burning up the air while losing parts of its own existence. First came the limbs, then the bones, then the memories and mental faculties. Soon it lost the ability to think, just like Lastia did. Only, Lastia has regained a slight bit of it back by absorbing it from the demon. She drew out one the most important things in this world from its corpse, intelligence. With intelligence, awareness followed and she checked on her own body's condition.
Good as new. How did that demon survive thus far? Surely there are other A grades out there that would far surpass it, within the bracket of this grading itself, the demon would be quite low. Only the average human or magical girl could die to it, a nation or society wouldn't have trouble subjugating it. That could only mean... There weren't any countries left standing around. Following the thunderstorm she caused was heavy rain. A coat of red light isolates her from the water splashing down.
All other sound or scent had been drowned out, forming a red light bulb she might attract other dangerous creatures. For example, if a country's history were about to end and the people annihilated, there wouldn't just be one person wishing for the world's end out of despair, would there? There are many other such demonic spirits, none were human to say the least. Though the first one she fought would be the strongest, having killed many others before happening upon her, it would be the closest to fulfilling its contract. With each kill causing it to grow stronger... Unfortunately a demon's growth rate couldn't be compared to a magical girl's.
"... Come. I'll teach you regret." (Lastia)
