Chapter 309 - Say It Again, I Dare You!

MHA Universe, Earth, Japan, Yokohama.

In the abandoned bar serving as the League of Villains hideout, Tomura was sitting at the bar with a handheld gaming console in his hands, passing the time with a retro game. Meanwhile, Kurogiri stood on the other side of the bar cleaning a glass absent-mindedly while looking up at a television on the wall that was showing the news.

"It's hard to believe that Static is actually letting his interns act." Kurogiri muttered.

"It doesn't matter." Tomura, without looking up from his retro console, a Nintendo Switch Lite, said nonchalantly. "They are nothing to us. And once we finish recruiting the others, we'll kill him and those two girls. That Soramoto bastard will lose his [Quirk], too. Then, I'll slowly turn him into dust. He actually made me buy that piece of junk. I bet he knew I was watching him and just showed interest in those stupid pauldrons to make me waste Sensei's funds."

If Tomura knew that he was only half right, his expression would surely be a sight to see.

"That's quite possible." Kurogiri replied, his posture making it seem as though he was in deep thought. "But I doubt he knew you were there. Otherwise, he would have found a way to contact some other Heroes to try and apprehend you. Sensei believes the same, as well."

"*Sigh* Whatever. Either way, I'll kill him for that."" Tomura said in a huff. A moment later, his expression morphed from mild annoyance and vindictive to downright anger as he continued. "Damn it! What's up with these janky controls? I should have been able to power slide around that turn with no problem!"

Hearing Tomura's abrupt change in topic, Kurogiri lost interest immediately. He then went back to watching the news while cleaning the glass in his hand.

Unfortunately, because he looked away, he missed when Tatsuo [Blinked] into the bar. Though, that should not have made him miss his entrance entirely. Yet, because of Tatsuo's spatial lock, Kurogiri's awareness of the space around him was hampered to a great degree.

Meanwhile, Tatsuo, after appearing in the League of Villains' hideout, took a second to look around without making a sound. And when he saw the clips of him, Akatsuki, and Sakura fighting crime in other cities, he could not help but smile. However, his attention did not stay focused on the television for long.

First, as he was standing across the bar from Kurogiri, he noticed that he had not been noticed, despite being so close. Next, he noticed that Tomura was so focused on the game he was playing that nothing else even seemed to register in his awareness.

'I bet it would be different if he ever thought that someone would be able to find their hideout, though.' Tatsuo thought to himself as he stepped forward to take a look over Tomura's shoulder, curious to know what game he was playing. 'Then again, this asshole lives in his own world. Nothing is ever supposed to go wrong, even when he knows that there's no such thing as a sure thing. Oh... Is that Mario Kart 8? That should have come out like... three hundred years ago in this world. Damn... Talk about a fan of the classics.'

"Fuck! How did that motherfucker get in front of me?" Tomura shouted angrily. "Cheaters! There are nothing but cheaters on the internet!"

'Oh, it even has online support this far into the future.' Tatsuo muttered internally. 'I couldn't imagine a game's online shelf life lasting that long. That's kinda cool, actually.'

"Oh, he probably took the short cut." Tatsuo said casually while watching Tomura play from over his shoulder. "Remember when you went over that big hill a second ago? Well, if you jump off, you can land on the track about half a lap farther ahead. But if you're not careful, you could end up jumping off the track completely."

"Really?" Tomura asked in a shocked tone. Though, he did not look away from the screen.

"Yup." Tatsuo replied with a nod.

"Damn... I didn't know that." Tomura replied.

"Well, that's why you have to pay attention to the whole map." Tatsuo said with a shrug.

"I'll have to try that on the next lap." Tomura said.

"You should." Tatsuo said with another nod.

Meanwhile, Kurogiri, who was surprised to hear a third voice in the abandoned bar, slowly turned his head to look towards the conversation. And when he saw Tatsuo standing behind Tomura, his glowing yellow eyes widened in surprise.

At the same time, Tomura also realized that the voice he was hearing did not belong to Kurogiri. He then looked up from his game and turned to see who was giving him such good advice.

However, when he saw Tatsuo standing there, his mouth fell open in surprise.

"Hey." Tatsuo said in a friendly tone. "Haven't seen you since you stalked me and Sakura at the mall last week."

Hearing that, Tomura's eyes immediately turned bloodshot as the console in his hands disintegrated into dust.

"So, you did trick me into buying those fucking, useless pauldrons!" Tomura shouted angrily.

"Stupid? Useless?" Tatsuo asked while tilting his head to one side, the purple of his irises spreading to cover the whites of his eyes while his black pupils began to elongate into reptilian slits. "Did you just call those beautiful pauldrons stupid and useless?"

"You're fucking right I did!" Tomura shouted. "You tricked me into buying them! And there was nothing special about them other than the fact that they were pure, 24 karat gold! Hmph! I got so mad when I found out that they weren't anything more than that that I turned them into dust on the spot!"

*Bang!*

"You mother fucking, cock sucking son of a bitch!" Tatsuo shouted as he punched Tomura in the jaw, knocking the Villain off his bar stool.

"Argh!" Tomura grunted as two teeth flew out of his mouth.

"I'll fucking kill you!" Tatsuo continued to rage while glaring down at Tomura. "You have the nerve to destroy something I had my eye on. It's bad enough that you took it from under my nose. But you actually destroyed it? Fuck! Fuck! Fuck!"

Kurogiri, who was about to attack after he saw Tomura being hit, froze with confusion in his eyes. Meanwhile, Tomura, while lying on the floor next to two of his teeth with a busted lip and a bloody nose, could only stare up at Tatsuo with the same expression on his face.

"The fuck...?" Tomura asked absent-mindedly. "What kinda shit are you smoking right now? Who the fuck gets so angry over a useless piece of gold?"

*Bang!*

*Bang!*

"Urgh!" Tomura grunted again as Tatsuo's foot connected with his chest, sending him flying across the bar and slamming into a wall, spiderweb cracks spreading from the point of impact.

"Say 'useless' again!" Tatsuo growled as he [Blinked] in front of Tomura, who was curled up against the wall he was kicked into. "Say 'useless' again, I dare you! I double dare you, mother fucker! Say 'useless' one more goddamn time!"

*Bang!* *Bang!* *Bang!* *Bang!*

And with every sentence, Tatsuo kicked Tomura again. Yet, despite how angry he had gotten, he was in control enough to keep his feet away from Tomura's hands.

Meanwhile, Kurogiri, after seeing Tomura get sent flying, finally snapped back to reality. He then tried to use his [Quirk] to save Tomura. However, with Tatsuo's spatial lock, his [Quirk] would not even activate. So, with no other choice, he flung his mist body at Tatsuo, intending to either physically move Tatsuo or Tomura away.

*Bang!*

Unfortunately, Tatsuo's awareness was too good for something like that to work. And that was proven when Kurogiri got close.

Without even looking away from Tomura, Tatsuo flung his hand at Kurogiri faster than the Nomu could react and struck him on the metal collar around his neck and the lower half of his face.

*Bang!*

As a result, Kurogiri's body, which was made of mist, was sent flying in the direction from which he came. And because the collar was struck, his body remained solid when he slammed into the bar, punching a hole in it, before stopping at the wall behind the bar.

*Shatter!* *Shatter!* *Shatter!*

On top of that, thanks to the heavy impact, all the bottles of liquor lined up on the shelves behind the bar fell, as well, shattering on either the floor or on Kurogiri's body when they landed.

"H-How? How did he find us?" Kurogiri, woozy from the collision, asked as he tried to pick himself up off the floor. "And why would he even be in Yokohama? No… Wait… Is he here alone? Where is Static? Sensei… I need to tell Sensei about this."

After finally getting his thoughts together, Kurogiri struggled even harder to pick himself up. Though, it really was a struggle. But he did eventually get himself off the floor. Unfortunately, things would never be that simple.

Reaching into his pants pocket, Kurogiri quickly pulled his smartphone out of his pocket. But when he looked down, intending to unlock it and contact All for One, the only thing he saw was a completely shattered screen. Because of that, he spent the next minute or so silently staring at the shattered plastic.

"Ahh~~~~~~~~!" Tomura screamed in pain, pulling Kurogiri out of his stupor. "Kurogiri! Don't just stand there, you idiot! Make him stop!"

"Shut the fuck up!" Tatsuo shouted angrily while throwing a punch.

*Bang!* *Crack!*

Despite the beating he had been taking for the last minute, or so, Tomura reacted quickly. Raising his arms to block Tatsuo's punch. Unfortunately, despite all the procedures he had been through to strengthen his body before Dr. Garaki's passing, he completely underestimated Tatsuo's strength, evidenced by the fact that his left forearm shattered under Tatsuo's blow.

"Ahh~~~~~! It hurts! Stop it!" Tomura screamed in pain.

Tomura's screams once again snapped Kurogiri back to the here and now. He then vaulted over the bar and ran towards the television that usually broadcasted the communications with All for One while ignoring Tomura's pleas for help.

Luckily, Tatsuo did not seem to have any interest in Kurogiri, as long as he did not interrupt the beating he was administering. Because of that, it only took a moment for Kurogiri to reach the television.

"Good. I made it." Kurogiri said in a relieved tone as he reached up and turned on the television.

{"What is the matter, Kuro--- Is that Tomura-Kun?"} All for One asked, interrupting his original question. {"Why is he screaming like that? Is he getting… beaten up?"}

"Yes, that's exactly what's happening, Sensei." Kurogiri replied in a hurried tone. "I don't know how, but it seems like the Soramoto boy found our hideout."

{"I see."} All for One replied. {"Then, that means you won't be able to escape with your [

Quirk]. In that case, I'll be there *Boom~~~~~~~~~!*"}

*Bzzt!*

However, before All for One could finish, the sound of an explosion was transmitted through the television before the communications were cut.

"Sensei?" Kurogiri asked in a dumbfounded tone. "Did someone find---"

*Boom!*

Like All for One, before Kurogiri could finish speaking, he was interrupted by an explosion. Unfortunately, this explosion happened directly in front of him, as the wall from which the television was hanging exploded inwards, sending Kurogiri once again flying into and through the bar before slamming into the wall behind it.

On the upside, the explosion finally drew Tatsuo's attention away from Tomura, giving the young Villain a reprieve from the beating he was receiving.

"Hmm? What's that?" Tatsuo asked while looking into the dust cloud that was kicked up when the wall exploded, his anger dying down quickly now that he had something else to focus on.

"What the hell do you mean what's that?" Rumi's angry voice sounded from the dust cloud. "You were supposed to leave that mist guy to me. Instead, you almost took him down without even thinking about it."

Just after she finished speaking, Rumi stepped through the dust cloud while patting dust out of the fur on her ears.

"Huh?" did I?" Tatsuoa sked in a genuinely confused tone. "When did that happen?"

"Are you serious?" Rumi, Tomura, and Kurogiri asked simultaneously.

Hearing the chorus of voices, Tatsuo was startled momentarily. Then, he lowered his head to think back on what happened over the last few minutes.

"Okay… Hold on, gimme a minute." Tatsuo said while raising a hand to stop Rumi, who was stomping towards him. "I remember [Blinking] in here and looking around. Then, I noticed that Shigaraki was playing an old game. And being the nice guy that I am, I gave him some advice. After that…"

*Thunk!* x 2

Reaching that point, Tatsuo quickly reached into his [Inventory], pulled out a pair of long daggers, and flicked them downwards at the hand Tomura reached out to grab his leg, one of the daggers stabbing straight through the hand and pinning it to the floor.

"Ahh~~~~~~~~~!" Tomura screamed in pain as blood splattered from the wound. "MY hand! Fuck! My finger! You actually cut off my fucking finger!"

As Tomura said, the second of the daggers Tatsuo threw managed to cut off his middle finger. As a result, his [Quirk], which relied on touching an object with all five fingers, could no longer be used with that hand.

"Yeah… Having you [Decay] my leg would suck." Tatsuo said nonchalantly while he was still trying to remember what happened after he was finally noticed. "Besides, it's rude to try that while I'm thinking, you know?"

With that, Tatsuo pulled another dagger out of his [Inventory] without even looking at Tomura.

Seeing that, Tomura's eyes widened in terror.

"No, don't---" Tomura begged.

*Thunk!*

Yet, before he could even finish his sentence, Tatsuo flicked the dagger, cutting off Tomura's middle finger from his other hand, as well.

"There." Tatsuo said as he dropped his hand to his side. "Now, you won't be able to interrupt. I was even nice enough to take the same finger on both hands."

"Ahh~~~~~~~~~~! Fuck you!" Tomura shouted hysterically.

*Bang!*

Tired of hearing Tomura's screaming, Tatsuo, still without looking at him, threw a kick at Tomura's head, knocking the blue-haired Villain unconscious.

However, as soon as the kick landed and Tomura fell silent, Tatsuo's expression darkened.

"He called my treasure useless." Tatsuo growled.

"Damn... You're ruthless, Kid." Rumi said while kneeling down to check on Tomura's injuries. "But I guess that's an effective way to deal with a [Quirk] like his. Anyway, we should get him bandaged up. Don't need him bleeding to death on us. Accidental deaths come with way too much paperwork."

With that, Rumi, though clearly disgruntled, reached into a compartment on her belt and retrieved a roll of bandages made specifically for situations like these and began wrapping up Tomura's injuries.

On a side note, she enjoyed the way Tomura's unconscious body twitched when she yanked out the dagger pinning his hand to the floor.

"By the way, where is the mist guy?" Rumi asked while she worked.

"Kurogiri?" Tatsuo asked while raising an eyebrow. He then jabbed his thumb at the bar. "He's stuck in the wall behind the bar. When you kicked in the wall, he was standing right there… I think."

"Damn it." Rumi grumbled. "I wanted to beat him up. But now it looks like that's off the table."

Quickly finishing with Tomura, Rumi stood up and looked over the bar. And sure enough, Kurogiri was stuck in the wall. And judging by his current posture, he was probably unconscious… Maybe even dead. Then again, Kurogiri was a Nomu. So, that meant he was already dead, right?

"Oh well." Rumi said with a shrug. "Let's call the cops and get these two taken into custody. Then, we can go help Static and the girls. There was a big explosion in the direction they went about a minute ago. I'm sure there's a fight to be had there."

"Alright, I'll [Blink] us over there after the police get here." Tatsuo replied as he began focusing on his spatial awareness to see what the situation was like at the warehouse Alfonzo, Akatsuki, and Sakura were raiding.
