The Devil's Den. When it had first opened, the owner had chosen the name simply because it sounded cool and provocative. It was the kind of name that attracted attention, made people curious, and, most importantly, brought in customers.
There had been nothing supernatural about it.
Then the Essence Era happened.
People began dying here. Outsiders started drinking here. Awakened criminals, mercenaries, smugglers, bounty hunters, and men who no longer cared about ordinary laws treated the place as neutral ground.
Eventually, the joke stopped being a joke.
The Devil's Den.
It had become exactly what its name suggested.
Martha stared at the Outsider sitting at the table, the two dead women still lying nearby as though they were nothing more than discarded trash.
Why had he come here? To play king? To show everyone how powerful he was?
And when, exactly, was the government going to make someone like him pay for what he had done?
