Chapter 12 - Dual Spirits

Evan, unable to contain his excitement shouted. He could not wait to find out who his spirit will be!

"Are you ready?" With a serious look, Alexandra asked.

Still excited Evan said a bit terrified, "Is the ritual dangerous?"

"Why do you look so serious?" Alexandra expression was very sober. She didn't even have this look when facing the red-eyed demon which made Evan both curious and afraid.

"Once you become a Spirit Wielder there might be side effects." She stated.

"Such as?" Asked Evan.

"Let's take my spirit for example. Whenever I use it's power I become emotionally detached. I will appear indifferent and might even treat those close to me as an nuisance. Only doing things base of logics and facts and what would be the best outcome for me, anything else becomes irrelevant.

"I can suppress it for now but the more I use this power the more unlikely I will be able to keep my emotions." She explained, a trace of sadness revealing itself on her face.

"That's also another reason I came to find you. I don't... I don't want to regret anything before it's too late." She concluded.

"I- Is that so." Evan stuttered, not sure how to accept her blunt confession. He still had no idea how to approach Alexandra feelings for him.

Like an idiot, he ignored the latter part and said, "You said spirits only answer to those with similar ambitions and personalities. If that's the case then the reason you obtained such a spirit with a harsh side effect is likely due to the environment you grew up in." Evan tried to think of an explanation why Alexa has such a side effect.

"You probably grew up in an environment filled with indifference. With parents and family members who only care about your future potential and not YOU, Alexandra Warren." Evan said with eyes filled with pity.

"You're 100% right." Alexandra agreed, Evan couldn't help but feel sorry for her.

"Since you understand this, then you must be ready to awaken your spirit then!" She smiled, recovered from her dull mood.

"I must warn you though. The moment you become a Spirit Wielder, danger will be lurking no matter where you go. The spirit qi that's faint inside you will become more vigirous and will result in evil and depraved spirits to target you."

"Aren't I and Sam already being targeted by one already?" Evan replied with a weary smile. The red-eyed demon promise to come back is still haunting him.

"Only by becoming a Spirit Wielder will I have a chance to overcome this obstacle." He clenched his fist, determined to become strong.

"Then let's begin." Alexandra nodded her head, her eyes becoming indifferent. She took out a strange device and crushed it before conjuring an ice dagger and slashing it at Evan's hand.

This occurred in seconds. Evan did not even see when a large cut appear on his hand.

Looking at the large wound, Evan nearly screamed. He could see his bones, his blood flowing out like a fountain.

"This is just the first step." Alexandra uttered before taking her blood soaked dagger and spreading the blood all over the floor.

"You can scream if you want. I placed a device that isolated us from the real world. You can think of as the world the demon trapped you in." She stated coldly with not a hint of concern. Evan now understand what she meant by her powers side effect. He even believe her telling him this was due to her suppressing the side effect.

Minutes later Alexandra stopped. A unorthodox symbol was drawn around Evan, him being in the middle with his hand still bleeding.

The blood seep into the unorthodox symbol causing it to turn bright white.

"Only by going through the process of death can one awaken their spirit." Looking at the pale Evan, she muttered.

"Why didn't you say that." Struggling to speak, Evan said.

"I seem to have forgot." She answered. Evan couldn't tell whether she was joking or nor.

"Now for the last step. Think long and hard on why you want to become a Spirit Wielder. Only then will a Spirit be summoned." Divulged Alexandra.

Evan who felt his body become weaker closed his eyes and thought to himself, 'Why do I want to become a Spirit Wielder?'

He soon chuckled. "Well there's multiply reasons."

"I want to find out more about the disaster in 2015."

"I want to figure out whether or not my parents are alive or not and maybe if they are, try to find them."

"I don't want to continue live in fear of knowing that there's a demon whose continously getting stronger coming after our lives."

"And lastly, I want to be strong enough to protect my family." He looked at Sam who was staring at him with a worried look, images of Naomi, Amber, Uncle Lionel, Aunt Rebecca, Uncle Ben flashed in his mind.

"Including you." Evan smiled. After knowing of her story he felt truly sorry for her. Although he could not accept her feelings for him now, he believe things could change in the future.

Alexandra not expecting to be included was surprised, a flustered look appeared on her indifferent yet beautiful face.

Evan laughed when he saw this. "I guess the side effects aren't as bad as you make them out to be."

At that moment the unorthodox symbol became more vibrant. It's light became so bright that it covered the entire room.

At the same time the unorthodox symbol made of Evan blood became faint before transforming into tiny dots filled with vast spirit qi.

The wound on Evan hand immediately healed afterward.

Evan stare in shock and excitement. "Its here!"

The tiny dots began merging together. They soon turn into a humanoid being covered in blue light.

The blue light soon fade, revealing a man with long black hair flowing down to his waist. This man face was very ordinary, but his eyes held a lot of weight to the point that both Alexandra and Evan were immediately drawn in by those eyes.

He was very sturdy and muscular but not too excessive, being both muscular and scholarly, especially in his blood-red trench coat that draped down to his feet. His steampunk suit giving off an noble aura.

The man held a very long scythe over his shoulders looking very menacing and badass.

"Scyther Belmont." A voice resounded in the room. A voice that did not belong to any of them.

Alexandra and Evan quickly drew their gazes away from the man. His eyes were dark red, but they were as calm as an experience hunter and carried the weight of someone who once ruled over an empire. It held so much charisma that they felt like becoming one of his followers right then and there.

"You know of him?" Alexandra asked, confusing Evan.

The voice resounded again. "He is Scyther Belmont, a hero from my era. During the time he was alive he hunted demons that you now call Depraved Spirits like a mad man before creating a kingdom whose only purpose was to slay demons."

"He ruled for less than a thousand years before being slained by the Demoness of Wrath who had already ascended to become one of the many Demon God's."

"Even though he was defeated, his strength left the Demoness of Wrath half dead and she was later killed by her archenemy known as the Demoness of Disease who ascended to a Demon God afterward."

"Even after his death the mention of the name Scyther Belmont bring immense fear to any demon that hears of it. To think he would be your fiance spirit." The voice said in surprise.

'Is that Alexa's spirit speaking?' Evan couldn't help but wonder.

"Who the hell are you." The man swept his gaze around the room before his vision land on Alexandra.

"I smell a dirty god laying in your body." The man by the name Scyther Belmont uttered in digust before switching his gaze to Evan.

"You boy have Belmont blood in you." He said before laughing, "Haha! No wonder I was summoned. So my Belmont Clan still lives in this era!" He approached Evan with an kind smile.

"Your body is a bit weak for a Belmont but I can tell you went through some training with a sword. Good! Good! My Belmont Clan still live up to my expectations!" He continue laughing while patting Evan shoulders. His aura of a king disappeared, revealing a caring man.

"You know my family?" Shocked, Evan asked. From what he knew his parents and him were the only Belmont's in Saint Louis. He doesn't even know of his grandparents.

"Of course! I am the ancestor of the Belmont Clan after all. Without me, there would be no Belmont today!" He continue laughing with the huge scythe still around his shoulders.

"Tell me boy. What's your name?"

"Evan Belmont... Sir." Evan murmured in respect.

"Evan... a good name. A good name indeed!" The man acknowledged.

"And drop the formality. That thing don't exist in the Belmont Clan, just call me Scyther."

"Scyther..." Evan replied.

"What about my other descendants. How many are left?" Scyther asked while looking around, using his spirit qi to sense his surroundings for other Belmont's but could not sense any.

"Only me and my parents. As for my parents, I'm not even sure if they are still alive..." Evan sighed.

"Eh?" Shocked, Scyther did not know what to say.

"Without me they must have went into hiding and quickly decline. Well, I am happy that there's still someone to continue the family name." Scyther smiled, trying not to ruin the mood.

"Yeah...!" Evan agreed. He was happy to know his family were once noble and hunted demons. It's probably the reason he gain the courage to face that red-eyed demon.

At the same time he groaned as an indescribable pain took him over.

"What's happening to you?!" Scyther shouted in surprise. Faint black and white dots appear all over Evan.

Another unorthodox symbol appear beneath Evan feet startling Alexandra who have completed suppressed her powers by now.

"Is that a summoning ritual?!" She yelled in shock. She did not recognize the writing on the symbol!

"Ah!" Evan let out an heart-wrenching scream. It was so loud that it would have woken up everyone in his neighborhood if not for Alexandra insulating his room.

At the same time, the unorthodox symbol of black and white quickly expanded, covering the entire room.

Evan then became dizzy, blood flowing out from his nose, eyes, ears and fingers.

The resounding voice exclaim in shock. "Its... another spirit awakening! He's going to be a dual spirit wielder!"
