Chapter 13 - Eclipse

"Dual Spirit Wielder? Are you sure he can handle two spirits?!" Shouted Alexandra, a worried look on her face.

The spirit of a Spirit Wielder not only draws energy from the world, but also from the Wielder. This is to sustain their spirit body in the mortal world.

Due to this, if someone were to wield two or more spirits, the spirit qi in their body would quickly dry up, killing them in the process.

Not even Alexandra whose very talented would dare wish to wield two spirits.

"If it was anyone else I wouldn't be so sure, but his spirit qi has already began awakening. With the vast amount he have it shouldn't be a problem." The voice reassured.

"Come on boy! This little pain cannot hurt a Belmont!" Scyther shouted some words of encouragement.

"Ah..." Evan growled, his eardrums burst moments ago making him unable to hear a word that's said.

Blood flow from his eyes makinf it so he could not see and all he could smell was his own blood.

Evan felt like all his senses were gone including his sense of touch.

But Evan knew that wasn't the case.

Because... he could still feel the pain.

And because he could feel the pain he knew he wasn't dead yet.

Gritting his teeth, Evan endured while thanking his adoptive father, Lionel Duncan for his strict training.

'Haha old man, to think that cruel training you put me through would come in handy one day.' Evan tried laughing but could only cough up blood.

Evan sighed in his heart, reminded of the times Lionel Duncan would push him to his limit during their training to the point he would bleed.

Evan felt this unbearable pain for three hours. For three hours all that could be heard were his screams.

At 3 AM, the unorthodox symbol did not vanish but instead entered Evan's body.

Evan let out a sigh of relief before collapsing on the ground. This time, his wounds did not heal leaving him in a wretched state. His life clinging on the edges of death.

"Evan!" Alexandra cried out, caught him and began examining his wounds. She wanted to help before but did not dare interfere during the ritual as that could cause consequences for Evan.

Looking at the blood covered Evan, Alexandra felt a sharp feeling in her heart. She quickly form frost on her fingers to freeze Evan injuries but was stopped by Scyther.

"You..." She uttered, fire blazing in her cold eyes.

"Let him do it." The resounding voice spoke.

With clenched teeth Alexandra moved back for Scyther, choosing to trust the voice.

"You don't need to worry. Scyther here have flames known as Karma Flames. They can cause devastating damage to anything it touch but can also heal any injury depending on the person being healed good deeds." The voice reassured.

"You sure know a lot about me. Could it be you were the goddess of wisdom, Athena?" Scyther questioned.

"..."

The resounding voice did not respond nor utter another word after that.

Scyther sneered, "It doesn't matter if you were." A mocking smile cropped up on his face as he said, "Now you god's are on the same level as us mortals are."

"I don't understand why you hate us."

Scyther laughed. "Not just me. Ask any mortal from my era. While we were spilling sweat, blood and tears to defend our land from the demons, all you did was watch!"

"You watch as they took our children, rape our wife's and play with the lives of us who fought for our survival!"

"And you dare ask why I hate you." His laughter turn furious.

"..."

"Can you please focus on healing Evan." Alexandra who had enough exclaimed with a cold look.

"If you let Evan die I swear I will find a way into the spirit world and find a way to kill you."

Scyther knew now was not the time teased. "Heh, don't you know spirits can't be killed little girl?"

"..." Alexandra only stare at him with a serious look causing Scyther to chuckle as flames flew from his hand and cover Evan.

Evan wounds healed quickly. "He had just enough good karma to heal all his wounds." Scyther sighed in relief.

"He's not waking up." Alexandra stated with furrowed brows. Her heart began to grew uneasy.

"He used up all his spirit qi summoning not just one, but two spirits. He must be exhausted." The voice came up with a valid explanation in which both Alexandra and Scyther agreed.

"That's good then." With a sigh, Alexandra had Belmont move Evan to his bed causing the latter to grumble at her orders.

She choose to stay the night with Evan incase anything happens. She also did not dispel the dimension she created.

Belmont also choose to stay since if anything happens he could use his flames to heal Evan.

"Where am i?" Evan woke up and rub his eyes. He saw himself in a blank space.

"This is inside your consciousness." A voice responded, surprising Evan.

Evan turn his head to see an orb floating above him with numerous chains restraining it.

This startled Evan, if this was his consciousness why is there an orb that seems to reflect light and darkness here?

"I can tell you are confused." The orb said, "I am your second spirit. Unfortunately, due to certain circumstances I cannot appear in front of you in human form."

"I see..." Evan nodded, trying to distinguish whether the voice was male or female but couldn't.

"I am sorry. It seems like I won't be able to help you." Evan envision a face smiling wearily and helplessly at him.

"Why are you chained up?" Evan choose to ask what was on his mind. He recall this same spirit was the reason he went through those unimaginable pain.

"Its this domain way of restricting me." The spirit answered.

"Domain? Are you talking my home?"

The spirit shook its head. "No- you humans call it Earth."

"Huh? Interesting.." Evan curiosity was piqued.

"Unless you become a black spirit wielder I cannot help you much." The spirit sighed before continuing, "However, the little help I can give you should be able to satisfy your needs until you become stronger."

The spirit stared at the chains around her. "If you can break three of these chains I should be able to able to give you a little bit of help."

Evan stare at the spirit restricted by the numerous chains and asked, "What kind of spirit are you anyways? Eidolon, Evil or maybe..."

"You are a Depraved Spirit." Evan exclaimed, staring intently with wary eyes at the orb chained up.

Evan may not know much about this new world he's about to enter but he was an cautious individual by nature.

"I am none of them." The spirit answered shocked him.

"Then what are you?" Questioned Evan.

"I am older than all the spirits you listed." Its answer left Evan startled.

'There are spirits outside of those three types?' Evan remember there's benevolent spirits but then it said it's older than all three types which confuse him even more.

"So are you a benevolent spirit?" Evan scratched his hear knowing his question was rather stupid.

"I am even older than benevolent spirits." This made Evan very curious. The spirit was basically saying benevolent spirits were older than the three types.

"Then what kind of spirit are you...?"

"I am the oldest." Evan envision a straight face staring at him making him cough in a speechless manner.

"So are you going to break the chains?" The spirit asked.

It's calm voice made Evan smile warily. "I feel like if I break those chains I will regret them in the future."

"Why would you regret?" The spirit was confused.

Sigh! Evan shook his head and approached the chains. There were dozens of chains so he did not think just breaking three of them would cause a disaster.

"What should I call you." Evan touch a chain and felt a strong rejection trying to force his hands off it.

But he felt like it was bearable.

"How about you give me a name." The spirit said. A vision of a person in a black and white gown kneeling in front of him appear.

It's entire body was covered in light and darkness. The only thing Evan could see was its gown.

"Please give me a name." The spirit voice became clearly allowing Evan to tell that it was female.

"Then how does Eclipse sound?" Evan thought this was a good name.

"..."

The orb did not respond after. Evan could not tell whether it liked the name he gave or not.

"So do I just break the chains..." A minute later he coughed, trying to recover from the awkward silences.

"It should be very easy." The orb replied. "All you need to do is infuse your spirit qi onto them."

"It will deplete all of it quickly but with the vast amount you have it should be able to break three of them each time." The orb continued which caused Evan to raise an eyebrow.

"Each time?"

"Yes... since you have just become a white spirit wielder you can only break three chains every time your spirit qi is replenished."

"The time it should take you to replenish all of your spirit qi should be around two to three human days." The orb concluded and Evan nodded.

"So I should come here every three days." He said a bit warily and excited. He did not trust this spirit but also thought it would be amazing to have two spirits willing to help him.

Evan imagination began running wild. He thought of fighting a spirit wielder and taking out two spirits. "The shock and fear on their faces... hehe, I can't wait."

"Mhm, if you break more chains before becoming a black spirit wielder I could assist you some more." Stated the orb.

Evan staring at the infinite amount of chains smiled wearily. "There are so many chains. I've already counted over a thousand of them how long do you think it will take for me to break all of em?"

"Who knows." The orb answer made Evan sigh in disbelief. This spirit wasn't helpful at all, he felt a bit scammed.

Throwing those meaningless thoughts out of his mind Evan whose hand was touching one of the chains began glowing white.

A bit of surprise appear on his face. He couldn't believe how easy it was to use spirit qi.

All he did was imagine it and it came onto his hand. 'Maybe it's a natural occurrence once one become a Spirit Wielder?' He shook his head not knowing, telling himself he would have to ask Alexandra when he wakes up.

The chain broke easily, just as the orb said. However, Evan felt a sudden exhaustion overcome him as if almost half his strength was suck away.

Knowing this would happen, he did not let it bother him and moved onto the next chain.

Crack! Huff!

It broke just as easy as the last. This time though, Evan fell to the ground finding it hard to breathe.

He felt like if he move an inch he would die.

"It seems like I underestimated your spirit qi output." The orb said and a vision of a female shaking hear head in disapproval appear in his eyes.

This vision gave Evan just the courage he needed. Gritting his teeth, he forced himself up and grabbed a hold of the last chain before applying his spirit qi into it.

Crack.

The chain broke and Evan fell to the ground once more. This time, not even having the strength to breathe.

"Although you are weak, you have immense willpower. This must have been a gift from your ancestors." The orb stated feeling a small bit of its power returning to it.

Evan did not hear a word it said just then. His body soon turn transparent.

"I will lend you this small bit of power. It will cause me to go into deep sleep. Hopefully when I wake up again you are still alive."

Watching Evan leave the orb whispered, "Nevertheless... good job."

"And I do like the name you gave me." Just like that Evan vanished.
