Chapter 327: I, Bai Luo, Never Break a Contract

The aroma of the roasted suckling pig was incredibly tempting, yet Diluc curled up nearby and didn't even spare it a glance.

The scene on the beach had been far too impactful for him.

Right now, there was absolutely no way he'd dare eat that thing.

"Sure you don't want a bite?"

Watching Diluc clutching a small dried fish and gnawing on it raw, Bai Luo took out a pork chop he had carefully prepared and handed it to him.

He had even thoughtfully removed the bones.

Sure, gnawing ribs without bones meant losing the soul of the dish, but given Cat Diluc's size, eating just the meat was clearly the better option.

Diluc ignored him, picked up his dried fish, turned around, and presented the Ausbilder with his back.

But upon seeing those two fluffy little spheres, Bai Luo suddenly said something that sent chills down Diluc's spine.

"Say… if we castrated you while you're in cat form, what do you think would happen after you turn back into a human?"

"MEOW!!"

Bai Luo's answer was a half-chewed dried fish hurled straight at him.

Cat Diluc completely bristled, clamping his hind legs together as a wary growl rumbled from his throat.

"Relax, relax. I'm just saying."

"Meow!"

Just saying my tail, put the dagger in your hand down first! Otherwise, your words have zero credibility!

Only after the Ausbilder sheathed his dagger did Diluc finally lie back down.

This time, though, he didn't dare turn his back to the Ausbilder.

At least for now, whatever this guy said he wanted to do, he usually found a way to make it happen.

Better safe than sorry.

The two of them had been busy around Starfell Valley for most of the day. Since they hadn't found any clues on the beach, Bai Luo took Diluc and changed direction.

Any place with a water source, they checked.

But aside from a few irrelevant adventurers, the most common thing they encountered was that chaotic Abyssal aura.

Which meant… that "Highness" had likely been searching around here just like he did, before he arrived.

As for whether the other party had found any useful leads, that was anyone's guess.

"Once we finish checking Windwail Highland, if there's still nothing, we'll head back."

Chewing on his pork chop, Bai Luo spoke to Diluc beside him.

He still had other tasks to handle in Mondstadt; spending all his time loafing around here wasn't an option.

"Meow!"

Hearing the Ausbilder say this, Diluc didn't even care about his dried fish anymore. He moved closer and placed a paw on the Ausbilder's body.

The meaning was simple.

You, the Ausbilder, swore an oath to Morax—once you were done, you were supposed to leave Mondstadt.

"Relax. I'm pretty close with Morax. How could I possibly break a contract I made with him?"

Taking advantage of the fact that Cat Diluc hadn't reverted to human form yet, Bai Luo once again extended his merciless iron hand and rubbed his head.

Just as he said, up to now, every single contract he had ever made with others… he had never once broken.

This time would be no exception.

Heh.

...

While Diluc and Bai Luo were locked in their battle of wits, Mondstadt City was in complete turmoil.

The mournful roar of the dragon, combined with the storm it brought, had caused considerable damage to the city.

First, one of Mondstadt's vital windmills had been destroyed by the storm. A fallen blade had even smashed into a residential building.

Fortunately, that residence had been unoccupied for years, so there were no casualties.

Still, the repairs would definitely fall to the Knights of Favonius.

Next came the task of calming the residents who had only just begun to enjoy peaceful days again.

Thankfully, the list Diluc had left behind had been taken over entirely by Kaeya, otherwise, Jean truly didn't know whether she could handle everything on her own.

"I wonder how Diluc is doing over there."

After saying that, Jean gave a bitter smile herself.

She was already so overwhelmed on her own side, yet she was still worrying about someone who didn't really need her concern at all. She really was…

"Grand Master Jean! This is bad!"

The knight who burst in made Jean put away the worry on her face. She straightened up and looked at the newcomer with the bearing of a commander.

As for his barging in without knocking, Jean would naturally deal with that later.

For something to make a Knight of Favonius lose his composure like this, she decided it was better to hear him out first.

"What happened? Why are you so flustered?"

Jean could only pray that things hadn't taken a turn for the worse—otherwise… the situation might truly spiral out of control.

"There has been a large-scale fainting incident at The Cat's Tail. Miss Margaret, the tavern's manager, has been temporarily detained by us. We request further instructions from you, Grand Master."

The knight's report made Jean freeze.

A large-scale fainting incident? The Cat's Tail?

If she remembered correctly, after Kaeya woke up, he had indeed mentioned that he fell into a deep coma after drinking Diona's cocktails.

This was bad!

With the dragon's appearance, incidents were breaking out all over Mondstadt, and in the midst of all that chaos, she had actually forgotten about this entirely.

"This matter has nothing to do with Miss Margaret. Release her and send her home. And… what about Diona from The Cat's Tail? Have you brought her in?"

"Reporting, Acting Grand Master. After we shut down The Cat's Tail, we sent Diona back to Springvale."

It had to be said that Diona's appearance was indeed somewhat misleading.

At least in a situation like this, most people wouldn't suspect her at all, instead pinning all the blame on Margaret.

"Notify Wilbur to go to Springvale and have Diona temporarily stop her bartending work. As for those who have fallen unconscious… arrange for them to be moved to the Cathedral of Favonius."

At first, Jean had considered using Lisa's potions to resolve the issue, but recalling Kaeya's agonized condition, she knew that would only make things worse.

Judging from Kaeya's current state, however, he didn't seem to have suffered any lasting harm.

Which meant that after losing the blessing of the spring fairy, Diona's drinks might still cause people to fall unconscious, but they no longer posed a threat to their lives.

As long as the unconscious were properly cared for, they would eventually wake up.

That said, she had no idea whether The Cat's Tail would lose a large number of its loyal customers afterward.

After arranging everything, Jean walked over to the window and looked out at the blue sky beyond.

Lord Barbatos, if you can hear me, please watch over Mondstadt. Let it once again become that warm, prosperous, and peaceful city.

As she always did, Jean prayed to the god who symbolized freedom.

A gentle breeze passed by, and the girl's wish turned into dandelion seeds, carried by the ever-restless winds of Mondstadt toward the vast and free land beyond.

The dandelions slowly drifted down, only to be caught by a streak of emerald-green light.

The surrounding winds converged around the dandelions, forming a magic circle marked with the symbol of Anemo.

Ancient inscriptions were carved into the formation, and if one looked closely, it almost seemed as though traces of stars could be seen within them.

The wind gathered at the center, pulling out a shadow that gradually solidified into a human shape.

Whoosh—

The condensed wind burst apart the moment the youth flicked his cloak, scattering into feather-like fragments that gently drifted to the ground.

"…How long was I asleep?"
