Chapter 5 - First meet

Water rushed into the body of the snake, quickly pooling and rising around Adam. Why in the hell is water coming in here? In his confusion, Adam was thrown to his feet by a heavy quake that coursed through the snake, and the water drained out of it.

Due to losing his balance, he slid further down the serpent's body. Adam plunged his claws into the flesh of the serpent to stop himself from sliding further.

Catching his attention, a pulsing ball of flesh hung beside him. His eyes darkened, and a sly grin was plastered on his face. Well Ain't today my lucky day.

~~~
Outside by a certain riverbank.
A campfire burned and crackled. Its flame illuminates and warms the night air.
Bethany, in her peach cloak adorned with the pink symbol of a heart with spiral patterns leading to its center, fixed her blond hair before turning her onyx eyes to the young woman beside her. The woman was a true beauty; her silky black hair rested on her shoulders, tied in a half-tail, and her gray eyes looked as if two moons had been placed there at birth. Her fair skin, smooth and without blemish, was dressed in the same attire as Bethany.
She was Lilith Karmine, the chief's daughter and a child blessed by heart. Bethany felt awkward being with her as she was often unsociable and distant. Though she was not one for conversation, she would love to have nothing to do with Lilith, but they were both assigned to do both this and the next rituals, so they had to be together. Luckily, they had already completed this ritual; thus, they will soon have nothing to do with each other for the next 6 months.
Suddenly, Lilith spoke as she stood and drew a blade she had rested beside her, "On guard, there is danger."
Bethany jumped to her feet and drew her daggers, her attention focused in the direction the young woman was looking.
The river?
The river started boiling as metallic silver scales rose from the water, which a large serpent launches from, aiming right for Bethany. Exhaling slightly, she threw her daggers at the snake, the light of the fire causing the near-invisible strings to shimmer.
At the same time, Lilith dashed toward the serpent, baring her sword, and she slashed down, cracking into its metallic scales but being too shallow to cut into it. One of the thrown daggers hit the serpent in the eye, while the other bounced off the scales of the creature.
The serpent recoiled, wailing from the pain. Bethany pulled the lost daggers back in while dashing forward, noticing something.
Lilith jumped up, plunging into the beast, mist following her every move. Continuously carving into the creature, cracking, then breaking the scales.
The serpent hissed, then melted into a liquid silver. "It's running! Get it! It's too close to the village!" Lilith shouted as she shot a ball of mist at the puddle. "On it!" Bethany released a stream of thread at the puddle as well.
More silver flowed from the puddle, forming barriers and blocking the attacks. Instead of running, the puddle of silver rose back into a snake, threatening to eat Lilith, who had just barely landed. But then the serpent became unusual and stopped in its tracks. Its skin rose and stretched, A man holding a weakly pulsing lump of flesh.
Both Lilith and Bethany, stunned, looked at the man in disbelief. The man wore pitch-black armor, covering red leather. His crimson hair, complemented by golden eyes. But most importantly, he had just come out of a Silver serpent. The two women could not believe what they were seeing.
After a few seconds, the man, without addressing them or even looking at them, ate the lump of flesh in his hand.
