Just because one soul is gone doesn't mean everything will be for the better, but there's a worth in that, it means not everything is because of one man, because someday a bigger man will show up, but even that man isn't the biggest man until he decides for himself to be.
(There are people who would have tried but missed the chance if your smoke wasn't thicker than water and as sharp as blood so that it can boil in both of your hearts).
There the people were, standing there, waiting for the giant clock to hit 9 o clock, because time was the same for all the people. Not like the books with different time zones, but because the world was flat, and it was big, some people theorized about the world being made from jupiters ring, and slowly society emerged, now it felt even freer without the fear of impending doom week for week.
The then infrastructure better built, a better foundation too, and just as you could hear the people start leaving for work a familiar world to the old, started to emerge, as if the pandemic never happened. Traumatized workers who had the job of cleaning away scraps of the dead after collapse could get therapy, the economy back at it's prime again almost a feeling of a violin break while listening to elevator music, a nice change of pace before the mundane.
People missed mundane, kids missed adventure, and school was being funded by and created for the people, as time went on it felt as though the question of how one mans life brought so much, really gave perspective on how the life of a loser, made other people become losers because they were suffering the words of a man unable to hear himself.
However, not everyone was a winner in life, even if they had one less to blame some people still suffered because they always forget themselves, to shield yourself from such pain just reminds you later. The girl who had a little brother, she was growing up to be a good little lady, the habit of being a copycat didn't stop just there, she could really become an athlete some said, how did she finish her homework so fast others said, but just as the school year started and her home and school life was at a tugging match all she ended up doing was biting a bit more than she had too,
She had a person who took care of her, but he was out almost the whole day doing jobs, and sometimes odd jobs at different café's and so she was left alone taking care of her brother again. The man was nice, he would always buy a treat whenever he had the chance, and while the mom was gone for the count because of her dependence on other men abusing her and taking her out of the picture of an overdose, the girl was quickly adopted by the towns people and when she needed a home she could always a visit.
The grandma next door, had issues pronouncing her s's and d's, but she had wrinkled fingers that took care of the baby as the little lady went on to do school work. The chief a former police, taking into consideration and helping out with small tasks when he could, and the men that gathered behind him would end up doing the same.
School was only that a place to meet up, talk, understand a bit about society, and leave. Sometimes a smaller society is built from the ground up, but that's a commoners story, we know people get picked on, we know people hate work, so why even bother raising your tone even if what you are saying has already been said before. But she did find friends, a boy and two girls, and at such a young age when race doesn't matter, it feels like you are rediscovering a hidden universe, almost endless.
But nothing can be fun and games, there are people who Neova knew well, one he would grow to resent and two he would grow to understand the character of, and as the days grew shorter, the rich stayed richer and the poor areas stayed the same, the only difference was the death toll. As night hit, people fell asleep, a house filled with the scent of a well known man was empty, I guess revenge comes best served as a dish with high cost low effort huh. Fin.
