Chapter 155 - Project Pegasus

Black Widow and Maria Hill arrived just as the facility shook violently. Something had changed in Natasha. Her eyes glowed faintly with an eerie light, and her movements were sharper, faster, more precise. The demonic spider familiar had given her new powers: she could spin sticky, almost unbreakable webs, strike with venom-laced attacks, and move with deadly agility.

Without hesitation, Black Widow sprang into action. She launched webs across the room, trying to trap Loki and slow him down. Venom crackled along her arms, ready to strike. She lunged at him, aiming to stop him with her new powers.

But Loki was too quick. He dodged easily, his movements precise and calculating. With a flick of his scepter, he shattered her web midair and sent her sliding across the floor. Black Widow struggled to get up, venom dripping from her fingers, her eyes blazing—but Loki was already moving toward her.

"You're stronger… but not enough," he said with a cruel smile. He raised his scepter, and instantly, Black Widow froze, her body stiff under his control.

"Natasha!" Maria Hill screamed, rushing to her side, but Loki's power was complete. He pulled Black Widow toward him, bending her will to his own. At the same time, Selvig, still under Loki's influence, moved with unnatural precision, carrying the Tesseract.

Nick Fury cursed under his breath, realizing how badly things had escalated. "They've got the Tesseract… and Black Widow," he muttered. "This just went to hell."

Loki held the Tesseract and his new pawn, surveying the chaos with a triumphant smirk. "Everything is going according to plan," he said, his green-and-gold armor gleaming in the flickering light of the unstable portal. "Soon… the world will be mine."

The portal shook violently, sending waves of energy through the facility. Fury scanned the room for a way to stop the disaster, but Loki had already taken full control. Even Selvig, forced by Loki, had set the unstable portal to detonate, making the situation even worse.

Loki quickly led his captives to the hangar. They jumped into a vehicle and sped out, the Tesseract in Selvig's hands. Fury barked orders into his comms. "All units, track Loki! Priority: recover the Tesseract and rescue anyone taken. Avoid unnecessary fights!"

Fury watched the convoy disappear, the unstable portal behind them humming dangerously. He knew they couldn't waste time—they had to act fast.

"Sir, are you okay?" Maria asked, running up after seeing the crash wreckage.

Fury nodded, brushing dust and debris off his coat. "I'm fine… but the Tesseract? They got away," he said grimly. Maria exhaled, realizing how serious the situation had become.

He activated his comms, coordinating with the remaining S.H.I.E.L.D. forces. "All units: track them. Priority—recover the Tesseract and rescue anyone taken. No mistakes."

The facility was in ruins. Alarms screamed, emergency lights flickered, and debris littered every corner—a harsh reminder of Loki's power. Fury knew it was only a matter of time before Loki acted on his plan.

"Sir, should I contact Alex?" Maria asked after a moment.

Fury nodded. "Yes. But we also need the Avengers. If Loki plans to attack, he'll come with an army—probably enhanced or controlled. That's why he took the Tesseract—to open a portal and bring reinforcements." He glanced at the wrecked base. "We need our own elite team. Launch the Avengers initiative. Contact everyone on the list. Get them ready. Call them all."

Maria nodded and moved quickly to carry out the orders. Fury closed his datapad, a small tension visible on his face. He muttered under his breath, "I hope they'll be enough for whatever Loki has planned." He pulled out an old-looking transmitter, muttering again, "If not… I'll have to call you." He set it down carefully, leaving it unused for now.

Outside, S.H.I.E.L.D. agents scrambled, coordinating across secure channels. Vehicles, jets, and rapid-response teams mobilized, all moving toward key strategic points. Fury's eyes scanned the live data showing Loki's last known location. With the Tesseract in his hands, every second mattered.

"Time is against us," Fury said to Maria, his voice calm but urgent. "Loki isn't just gathering an army—he's creating a foothold. We can't let him consolidate power. Every available unit moves now."

Maria nodded, fingers flying over the comms. "All teams, listen up! Full-scale mobilization is underway. Intercept Loki and recover the Tesseract. Avoid unnecessary risks, but don't let him gain ground!"

The control room buzzed with activity. Agents confirmed coordinates, loaded weapons, and coordinated air and ground units. Drones zipped through the skies, scanning for any trace of Loki. Satellite feeds highlighted possible escape routes and choke points.

Fury studied the maps at a tactical console. "We have thirty minutes before he reaches a safe location or assembles his forces. Focus on fast interception. Keep civilians safe—only engage if absolutely necessary."

Maria looked up, determined. "Understood, sir. Teams are moving now."

From the hangar, jets roared to life, lifting off in formation toward Loki's last known path. Armored vehicles rolled out, ready to block escape routes and secure critical locations.

Fury watched the operations unfold on the monitors. "Keep channels open," he said firmly. "We don't get a second chance at this."

As the S.H.I.E.L.D. forces mobilized, Fury's mind raced. Loki wasn't just fast—he was unpredictable. With the Tesseract and Black Widow under his control, every move could be a trap.

"Sir, we've got visual," a young agent called from the drone feed. The monitor displayed a convoy weaving through a mountain pass, the vehicle carrying Loki glowing faintly with the Tesseract's blue energy. Behind it, the portal shimmered, unstable and threatening to collapse.

"Lock onto them," Fury ordered, his eyes narrowing. "We can't let him reach the rendezvous point."

Meanwhile, in the vehicle, Loki glanced at Black Widow, whose eyes now flickered between obedience and a subtle, desperate struggle. Though his control was strong, Natasha's mind was not completely broken. Small movements—tiny, almost imperceptible—betrayed her effort to fight back. Loki smirked, unaware that the venom coursing through her veins might yet become a wild card.
