Gardevoir almost reflexively positioned herself protectively in front of Chris, because according to her mental power scan and Future Sight, there shouldn't have been any living creatures in that location.

Chris glanced sideways and observed colorful light flashing within the dark, deep forest.

It was an elk-like creature with magnificent crystalline antlers resembling tree branches in multiple colors, gazing at him with intense, burning eyes.

That appearance...

"Xerneas?!" Chris exclaimed in surprise at the unexpected visitor.

He had simply come searching for a Gardevoir possessing divine authority, yet he hadn't expected to encounter an actual deity—the opposite of Yveltal, the "God of Death." This was Xerneas, the "God of Life" who could grant eternal life.

"What lies ahead?" Chris inquired.

Xerneas observed Chris carefully. It had suddenly appeared not only due to its instincts and natural inclination to preserve life, but also because it had detected numerous powerful auras emanating from this human.

Xerneas responded as it slowly approached Chris. "Turbulent flows of time lie ahead. If you take even one step forward, you may vanish from this world due to temporal distortion."

"What caused this phenomenon?"

Xerneas appeared momentarily stunned, not expecting the human before it to ask about the underlying cause. Nevertheless, it answered truthfully.

"An item left behind by the God of Time. The aura it emits distorts the surrounding timeline, and combined with spatial fluctuations, this turbulent time zone has been created."

"An item left by the God of Time?" Chris immediately thought of the Adamant Orb.

In the games, the Adamant Orb was a signature item belonging to Dialga, the God of Time.

Its counterpart was the Lustrous Orb belonging to Palkia, the God of Space.

The Lustrous Orb was currently equipped on his Gardevoir, which confirmed that an Adamant Orb might indeed exist in this world as well.

However, the feedback from Gardevoir's Confusion scan hadn't shown an orb-shaped object...

No matter—he would know once he obtained it.

"So, Xerneas, are you here to obtain this item yourself?" Chris asked again.

Xerneas shook its head slightly and stated, "I have no interest in this particular item."

"That's fortunate," Chris remarked. He'd been concerned he might have to compete with Xerneas for the artifact. Chris extended his hand and snapped his fingers, causing his MEGA Evolution stone to glow brilliantly.

Gardevoir standing beside him immediately donned an elegant black wedding dress as Mega Gardevoir emerged.

"Are you still planning to proceed forward?" Xerneas questioned Chris directly.

"I'm extremely interested in this item and want to attempt retrieving it," Chris replied while placing his hand on Mega Gardevoir's shoulder.

Aura power enhancement activated!

Mega Gardevoir's power suddenly increased dramatically.

"Use Confusion!"

The tide of Confusion surged forth once again, but compared to the previous attempt, this Confusion manifested as an enormous wave capable of engulfing a hundred-meter-tall building in one sweep. It was even visible to the naked eye.

The mighty Confusion wave surged forward and immediately "collapsed" upon arrival, transforming into thick serpentine forms that "crawled" skillfully through the hazardous area ahead until they reached the crystal's distant location.

Mega Gardevoir attempted to touch the crystal directly with Confusion, but the psychic energy simply disappeared upon contact.

She tried lifting the soil beneath the crystal instead, but after moving just a few steps, she discovered that the surrounding time vortexes moved in tandem with the crystal's movement, directly "strangling" the serpentine constructs composed of psychic power.

"No, it seems I'll have to retrieve it personally," Chris concluded.

As long as he could place the crystal into his handheld device storage, he could obtain it without significant risk.

"Once more, Gardevoir!"

Mega Gardevoir triggered Confusion again, and thick serpentine forms of psychic energy once more filled the gaps between the time vortexes ahead.

Chris immediately stepped forward, bringing Mega Gardevoir along into the Confusion pathway.

These Confusion constructs represented the safe paths Chris had created. As long as they remained within the boundaries of these psychic pathways, they wouldn't be affected by the time vortexes.

Chris felt somewhat fortunate. Thankfully, the time vortexes weren't actively flowing; otherwise, he would have had no way to enter safely.

After walking several steps, Chris noticed Xerneas following behind him.

Considering this deity's "personality," it was presumably here to protect him.

Well, having an actual god serving as protection certainly made him feel more confident.

Following the Confusion pathway, Chris soon arrived at the crystal's location.

This place resembled a small isolated island within an ocean—a palm-sized area with lush vegetation, fragrant flowers, and thriving plant life. All around it stretched the desert zone ravaged by turbulent time flows.

Chris approached directly in front of the crystal.

Before him rested a translucent azure crystal stone that emitted a faint glow against the dark night.

Simply standing before it, Chris could feel immensely powerful energy radiating outward.

This energy was on an entirely different level compared to the Lustrous Orb.

The Lustrous Orb itself was already a top-tier legendary item. If this was even more powerful than the Lustrous Orb, could it be a creation-level artifact?

No—the only creation-level items should be the eighteen Type Plates belonging to Arceus.

Could this crystal actually be one of those Plates?

Chris examined it more closely—it didn't resemble them at all.

He crouched down and carefully lifted the crystal stone along with the soil beneath it.

Instantly, the time vortex behind Chris shifted position, destroying all the Confusion pathways Chris had used to arrive. Fortunately, Chris's current location remained unaffected by the time vortex.

Like the eye of a typhoon where the weather remains perfectly calm.

A thought flashed through his mind, and the crystal stone in his hand was instantly absorbed into Chris's handheld device storage.

Simultaneously, the surrounding time vortexes lost their anchor point and collapsed instantly, transforming into sharp temporal blades that slashed outward in all directions.

"BOOM!" Before Mega Gardevoir could establish a protective Barrier, Xerneas had already launched itself forward. Pink brilliance spread outward in all directions as its unique Fairy Aura diffused and condensed into a protective shield, successfully blocking all the temporal blades falling toward Chris.

Witnessing this scene, Chris breathed a sigh of relief. Without Xerneas accompanying him, blocking these blades composed of pure time energy might not have been so straightforward.

Regaining his composure, Chris quickly activated his handheld device. He couldn't wait to examine what he'd just obtained.

Opening his inventory, he navigated to the crystal's entry.

It indeed wasn't the Adamant Orb.
