Adamant Crystal

The power of Steel-type and Dragon-type moves is increased by 200%, and the effectiveness of time-based moves is increased by 400%. The wielder of time-based moves will gain mastery over the power of time.

When a Pokémon carries this item, it will receive additional power enhancements.

Chris stared at the item description before him, momentarily stunned.

Not the Adamant Orb, but the Adamant Crystal?

In the games, the Adamant Crystal wasn't an item from the current era, but rather an ancient artifact. It was Dialga's signature item in the game version "Pokémon Legends: Arceus," whose main setting took place in the ancient Hisui Region.

It possessed the effect of reverting Dialga to its Origin Form.

"Is it possible that a Lustrous Crystal also exists in this world?" Chris raised this speculation before immediately shaking his head.

It shouldn't exist.

At the very least, in the games, he'd never collected both the Adamant Orb and Adamant Crystal simultaneously.

"Perhaps the Adamant Crystal is the predecessor of the Adamant Orb? And the Lustrous Crystal became the Lustrous Orb for some reason through the passage of time."

Comparing the items based on their properties:

Palkia's item, the Lustrous Orb, provided the following enhancement: the power of Water-type and Dragon-type moves increased by 100%, and the effectiveness of spatial moves increased by 200%—which was half the boost provided by the current Adamant Crystal.

It felt like the difference between a perfect product and a defective one.

However, there was no point dwelling on this mystery. What Chris was far more concerned about now was a different question.

Could the Adamant Crystal grant his Pokémon the ability to learn "time-based moves"?

After all, the Lustrous Orb had enabled all his Pokémon to master space-based moves.

"Here, Gardevoir, take this," Chris instructed, handing the Adamant Crystal to Mega Gardevoir.

When the Adamant Crystal reappeared in the physical world, no time vortexes manifested around it.

The moment Mega Gardevoir accepted the Adamant Crystal, a notification appeared on Chris's handheld device.

[Gardevoir absorbs "Adamant Crystal" and comprehends the move: Roar of Time]

"I knew it!" The corners of Chris's mouth curved upward into an ecstatic grin!

Now, Gardevoir was the only Pokémon in existence that had mastered both Dialga's and Palkia's exclusive signature moves!

Chris couldn't even begin to imagine how powerful Gardevoir had become!

However, Chris still felt slightly disappointed that she hadn't learned any other time-based moves. But upon careful reflection, there genuinely weren't many time-based moves in existence. When he thought about it carefully, he couldn't recall any other time-based moves besides Future Sight.

"Greninja, Blaziken..." Chris retrieved their Poké Balls and began allowing his other Pokémon to touch the Adamant Crystal.

But... no notifications appeared on the handheld device. Chris carefully examined their Pokémon status panels, and there were no changes whatsoever.

Eventually, he tried testing it with Lugia with no effect, ruling out the possibility that only Psychic-type Pokémon could learn from it.

"It seems certain special requirements must be met," Chris speculated thoughtfully.

Xerneas standing nearby was already utterly bewildered, its mind filled with questions.

Where had that crystal disappeared to? Why had it reappeared?

What was this human doing?

Why did he possess so many companion Pokémon? And among those companions was the deity of ocean currents and monsoons?!

"Oh well, there's nothing I can do if my other Pokémon can't learn time-based moves."

Chris could only set aside the idea of using the Adamant Crystal to help his other Pokémon master time-based techniques.

After all, enabling Gardevoir to learn Dialga's exclusive move "Roar of Time" was already an unexpected windfall.

Now he needed to decide who would carry the Adamant Crystal going forward.

Gardevoir was naturally the number one candidate.

Chris only felt it was somewhat unfortunate. The Steel-type and Dragon-type bonuses provided an Attribute enhancement of up to 200%.

He was well aware that the basic enhancement from Zapdos's Treasure was only 100%, with an additional 100% move power bonus accumulating every minute.

Setting aside other Attributes, the Adamant Crystal was essentially an enhanced version of a Divine Treasure. If a Pokémon could simultaneously absorb bonuses from both Attributes, it would be an enhanced Divine Treasure at maximum capacity.

Steel-type + Dragon-type Pokémon...

There was Goodra in its Hisuian form, and Duraludon.

Unfortunately, he hadn't considered training either of them seriously.

Then it would remain with Gardevoir.

At most, like with the Lustrous Orb, Chris would occasionally have Garchomp and Salamence carry it temporarily, allowing them to absorb the aura of the Dragon God from it to grow stronger.

"Nai~"

Suddenly, a gentle voice called out.

It was a Gardevoir's cry, but the sound came from far away, and it wasn't his own Gardevoir.

Chris immediately focused his attention in the direction the Gardevoir's cry had originated from. At the edge of the forest beyond the desert area, an elegant Gardevoir stood gracefully on the ground. Her dress swayed gently with the breeze flowing through the forest, and her entire body radiated a soft luminescence.

"She is my kin," Xerneas introduced.

"Kin?" Chris understood the meaning of this term.

Probably a relationship similar to that between Entei, Raikou, Suicune, and Ho-Oh. Could this mean that this Gardevoir was Xerneas's subordinate? No—perhaps a protégé?

Chris didn't particularly care about the exact relationship. What he wanted to know was...

"Does she possess divine authority?"

"Divine authority?" Xerneas didn't quite understand what Chris meant by this term.

Chris remembered that "divine authority" was a definition and terminology created by humans.

"Uh..." Chris thought for a moment, retrieved Zapdos's Treasure from Zeraora, and asked uncertainly, "Does she possess an item like this?"

Xerneas's eyes glanced at the Divine Treasure in Chris's hand. "The power of the Father God?"

"You mean Arceus?"

"Arceus?!" Chris immediately frowned and pressed further. "Are you referring to the Kings chosen by Arceus in ancient times?"

"Naturally. Only the Father God is qualified to be called God, and only He possesses the authority to establish the position of King and bestow upon Kings the power that belongs to Him—power named by the Father Himself."

"So, the 'Kings' are what we understand as gods, and Divine Treasures are the powers granted to Kings by Arceus?" Chris's frown deepened considerably.

It was understandable that Divine Treasures represented power bestowed by Arceus.

However, what was difficult to comprehend was that these "Kings" established by Arceus who possessed "the Father God's power" were the true deities.

According to this logic, he already owned two Pokémon with divine authority—Gengar and Zoroark—yet neither of them possessed any Divine Treasures.

Furthermore, he had defeated and captured the Legendary Bird Trio, but he hadn't observed any unique "King" designation appearing behind their names in their status information.
