Chapter 757: Earning the Divine Beast Origin Slot
The vast bluestone plaza was covered in dust and debris, the remnants of a fierce battle. Beyond its boundaries, an eerie silence fell over everything.
Every gaze was frozen in disbelief, eyes wide with shock at the scene before them.
No one had expected it. The black-robed man who seemed to be at the brink of defeat had suddenly turned the tables with a hidden trump card—crushing Zhao Xuan within mere breaths.
In just a few dozen seconds, the battle had completely reversed.
The gathered members of the Celestial Swallowing Python Clan exchanged uncertain looks, their expressions growing increasingly somber.
Anyone who still regarded that black-robed figure as some ordinary human was a fool. His methods, calculated and devastating, sent chills through even the proudest hearts.
On the elevated stone seats, the elders of the clan sat silent. Even the blue-robed elder, who had mocked him earlier, could only watch with a face pale and dark, unable to voice further protest.
"Sky-Shaking Force Ape... your subordinate wields that divine beast's power to such a degree of mastery. If it weren't for his human aura, I'd think he actually belonged to the Force Ape Clan," Cai Lin said softly, her violet eyes sparkling as she looked toward the black-robed figure with faint amusement.
Mo Yu merely smiled in response. His gaze swept toward his avatar on the battlefield, eyes glinting with satisfaction.
As expected of his external incarnation—the creature possessed incredible talent. To command the Force Ape's divine body so naturally… in time, perhaps it would even carve out a path of its own.
Standing atop the towering avatar of the Force Ape, Mo Yu's clone looked at the retreating Zhao Xuan with a flicker of mild surprise.
The Force Ape's raw power had exceeded even his own expectations. Truly worthy of being a divine beast renowned throughout the Great Thousand World—their physical prowess far eclipsed that of the Swallowing Pythons.
Pushing the thought aside, the avatar turned his attention to Jia Qing, the only opponent remaining.
Under that calm but piercing gaze, Jia Qing's body tensed. Although the young man's expression was tranquil, an instinctive sense of dread gripped Jia Qing's chest.
His strength was on par with Zhao Xuan's, yet he had just witnessed this human annihilate Zhao Xuan in mere moments. He knew he wouldn't last any longer.
"Looks like we're the only ones left," the avatar said quietly.
Standing on the Force Ape's head, he smiled faintly and stomped his heel. Instantly, a torrent of black energy erupted. The Force Ape roared, its massive palms condensing power into the shape of a colossal black war hammer.
Raising the weapon in one hand, the ape pointed it toward Jia Qing. A suffocating wave of pressure filled the air.
Jia Qing's expression darkened.
"Let's settle it," the avatar said, giving him no chance to prepare. He launched his assault without hesitation, intent on ending the fight decisively.
Boom!
The Force Ape streaked forward like a storm of darkness, closing the distance in seconds. The immense hammer fell with terrifying force, splitting the very air as it descended. Space around it fractured, and the ground beneath cracked open into deep furrows.
Jia Qing's pupils shrank as the weapon's shadow loomed over him. He gritted his teeth, stomping hard to trigger his beast form—a massive Five-Colored Swallowing Python materialized behind him.
Standing atop its gleaming head, he formed a rapid series of hand seals. The serpent hissed sharply, spewing forth a brilliant stream of crimson fire.
Pfft!
At the same moment, Jia Qing spat out a mouthful of essence blood shimmering with spiritual light. It merged with the serpent's fire, igniting into even greater intensity.
The air boiled as blinding red light expanded, forming a massive, scarlet shell of flaming armor shaped like a turtle's carapace. Carved patterns flickered along its surface—ancient and fierce.
"Scarlet Tortoise Protection!"
Boom!
The flaming shell solidified just as the black hammer crashed down. The impact sent shockwaves across the plaza, making the earth quake beneath them.
The black hammer trembled, cracks spiderwebbing across its surface. The fiery barrier, too, began to splinter. For an instant, black and red light clashed violently before both shattered in an explosive burst.
In the wake of the blast, the avatar dashed forward, his body tearing through the storm of debris like a streak of light.
Jia Qing reacted instantly, summoning a long spear of pure flame into his hand. Scarlet light flared around him as he spun the weapon in circles, forming rings of blazing energy before thrusting forward.
The spear's point shimmered with a blood-tinged flame destructive enough to burn through space itself.
He lunged—
But his eyes widened as the space mere inches in front of him rippled. A glowing finger appeared out of nowhere and gently pressed against his forehead.
The fiery spear froze in place.
The avatar stood before him, calm and unflinching. His finger rested on Jia Qing's brow, and he didn't even glance at the weapon still aimed at his chest.
Jia Qing stared at him, trembling faintly. He knew that if he dared to move, if he even twitched the weapon forward, that finger would pierce through his skull before he could blink.
Outside the plaza, the spectators held their breath. No one had foreseen this—how close and lethal the clash had become.
The silence lasted almost half a minute before Jia Qing finally exhaled. His spear lowered slowly, trembling in his grip.
"You win," he said bitterly. He understood all too well—if this had been a life-and-death duel, he would already be dead.
The avatar stepped back, withdrawing his hand with calm composure. Then, with a graceful leap, he rejoined Mo Yu's side.
"Clan Chief Mang Cang," Mo Yu said, his voice clear, "we'll formally accept the final spot for the Divine Beast Origin on behalf of Thunder Prison."
His words carried through the plaza, and this time, no one laughed or jeered. The black-robed man's stunning victories had silenced them all.
Even the elders who had been most dismissive could find no ground to stand upon.
"This Thunder Prison warrior truly does have the strength to represent our clan," one of the clansmen murmured. Others nodded quietly, their earlier arrogance tempered by awe.
A Sixth-Grade Sovereign who could defeat two of their top prodigies—and with a body comparable to a divine beast—that level of potential was terrifying.
On the high seats, the elders exchanged weary looks. A few sighed helplessly.
The red-robed elder turned with a knowing smile toward the speechless blue-robed elder. "Elder Blue Serpent, it seems you no longer object, do you?"
Blue Serpent's face turned grim. After a long pause, he muttered, "His strength is admirable, but he's still human. Isn't sending a human into the Divine Beast Origin rather inappropriate?"
The red-robed elder shook his head. "He may be human, but he has absorbed the essence blood of the Sky-Shaking Force Ape and cultivated a divine beast body. There will be no problem."
The blue-robed elder fell silent, frowning as he looked at the black-robed man. "If he's to represent our clan, then shouldn't we at least see his true face?"
All eyes turned toward the mysterious figure—Zhao Xuan, Jia Qing, and even the elders leaned forward in curiosity.
Seeing this, the avatar smiled faintly and turned to Mo Yu. "My true self, shall I…?"
Cai Lin's delicate brows arched slightly at the phrase "my true self." A revelation flickered in her mind.
Mo Yu smiled. "Since they're curious, let them see."
The avatar nodded. Slowly, under the weight of countless gazes, he lifted his hand and pulled back his black hood.
Gasps rippled through the clan as his face came into view—a handsome, refined visage identical to Mo Yu's own.
"What—!" the crowd erupted. The entire mountain fell into stunned silence.
"That's… the Lord of Thunder Prison's spiritual avatar! That's cheating!" Blue Serpent shouted furiously, leaping to his feet.
The other elders wore troubled expressions, equally astonished. Even Cai Lin, though she now understood the source of that familiar aura, couldn't help feeling moved.
Of course—it had been Mo Yu's clone all along.
Yet knowing him, there must have been deeper reasoning behind his decision to send his avatar instead of his true self.
Zhao Xuan and Jia Qing exchanged wry smiles. To think they'd been fighting the spiritual incarnation of an Earth Sovereign-level powerhouse—it was no wonder they'd lost.
Their only confusion was how such a clone could refine divine beast blood. Ordinary avatars were never capable of such feats.
Ignoring the flustered Blue Serpent, Mo Yu set his gaze on Mang Cang, waiting for his verdict.
The clan chief remained calm, fingers tapping rhythmically on his chair. His eyes narrowed slightly as he studied Mo Yu and his avatar in silence. When he finally spoke, his deep voice carried like distant thunder.
"The Celestial Swallowing Python Clan honors its word. Since your avatar has defeated both Zhao Xuan and Jia Qing, the fourth entry to the Divine Beast Origin shall go to your avatar."
"Clan Chief, that's impossible—he's just a clone—" Blue Serpent began, but Mang Cang waved him off.
"Enough," he said evenly. "You still haven't realized, that is no mere spiritual clone. That body possesses true independence—it is a living manifestation, capable of refining divine beast blood and manifesting the divine form itself.
Since the Lord of Thunder Prison has gone to such lengths and shows such confidence in his creation's strength, our clan will not be petty over one slot."
Mo Yu smiled faintly and bowed. "In that case, I thank you, Clan Chief Mang Cang."
The powerful elder nodded slowly. "Just ensure that you help Cai Lin gain the Ancient Swallowing Python's divine bloodline…" he said softly, his tone tinged with distant hope and quiet resignation.
