Chapter 759: The Difference Between the True Self and the Avatar, Blood Spirit Mud
It was a void of absolute darkness—so vast and heavy that even air itself seemed swallowed by the gloom. The oppressive silence pressed upon the soul like a great weight.
Whoosh!
That eternal stillness was suddenly shattered.
Ripples spread through the void, and from within, a faint slit of light tore open. Moments later, four streaks of radiance shot out, piercing the darkness.
Hovering in midair, the four figures were wrapped in glimmering spiritual light as their power automatically flared outward in defense. Their eyes swept keenly across the surroundings. After confirming no immediate danger, the light around them slowly dimmed, revealing four familiar silhouettes—Cai Lin, Mo Yu's avatar, Mang Lie, and Mang Yu.
"So this is the Divine Beast Origin?" Cai Lin asked softly, gazing in astonishment at the endless black void before them. There was nothing but darkness—no sign of landscapes or divine energy, not even a whisper of life.
"Yes," Mang Lie said grimly, surveying the horizon. "This area lies within the void space that conceals the Divine Beast Origin."
Just as Cai Lin and the avatar nodded in understanding, the latter's expression changed. His head snapped to the left.
From the darkness, ripples flickered—and then a colossal stone, nearly a hundred meters wide, came hurtling toward them like a meteor, slicing silently through the air.
"That's our transport," Mang Yu said cheerfully to Cai Lin and the avatar. "We have to use these stones to cross this void. Spirit energy can't be absorbed here, so these floating rocks are the only way to reach the Origin. We change from one to another until we find the space fragment that holds the Divine Beast Origin itself."
Mang Lie's expression hardened. "You must get aboard. If you miss this one, you'll wait for the next—and that could take half a day or more. In bad luck, one or two days. By then, your spiritual energy will begin to disperse, and you'll die long before rescue."
Cai Lin and the avatar immediately nodded in solemn understanding. Staying too long here meant certain death.
The giant rock swept past in a blur. The four of them shot forward simultaneously, their figures streaking through the air before landing firmly atop the massive surface. Channels of spiritual light surged beneath their feet to hold them steady.
Whoosh!
The stone quivered once, then streaked through the void with doubled speed, carrying them swiftly into the endless dark.
Moments later, a delighted shout broke the silence. Mang Yu clenched her tiny fist, and crimson light suddenly erupted from beneath the stone's surface. A glowing streak shot up from the ground and fell into her hand.
"What's that?" the avatar asked curiously. Though technically a projection, he was in essence Mo Yu—fully self-aware and independent.
Mang Yu opened her hand, revealing a lump of crimson material about the size of a fist. It looked like wet clay soaked in blood, exuding a pungent metallic scent. The rich aroma of blood rising from it instantly set the avatar's vitality boiling, a primal urge whispering to devour it.
"This is Blood Spirit Mud," Cai Lin explained softly. "According to ancient records, during the Great War of the Primordial Era, powerful divine beasts tried to prevent the destruction of the Divine Beast Origin by self-detonating their bodies. Their blood essence fused with the earth of this realm. These rare clots of blood-soaked earth became the Blood Spirit Mud.
It can be ingested directly to strengthen the body, increasing one's physical durability. Alchemists can also refine it into Blood Spirit Pills, which can completely transform a cultivator's physique."
Hearing this, Mo Yu's avatar nodded faintly. The name stirred something in his distant memory—one of countless relics buried within the ancient universe.
Mang Yu smiled brightly, dividing the lump with her slender fingers into four smaller pieces. After handing one to her brother, she offered the remaining two to Cai Lin and the avatar.
"Thank you," Cai Lin said with a gentle smile, accepting the gift.
The avatar gave a faint nod as well, feeling a quiet warmth toward the lively girl.
The portion left in his hand was no larger than a thumb. Imitating the others, he rubbed it into a small bead and swallowed it in one gulp.
Boom!
As it entered his stomach, an explosion of energy surged through his veins. Fire-like heat spread rapidly from his chest to every limb, his blood thrumming violently. A faint crimson glow crept across his skin as power coursed through him.
After several minutes, the burning sensation subsided, replaced by an overwhelming feeling of vitality. His fist clenched instinctively, strength pulsing inside him like thunder.
He immediately sensed it—his flesh had become ever so slightly denser, stronger.
It was a small improvement, yet one that shocked him. Since achieving the Divine Beast Body, enhancing his physical strength had been extraordinarily difficult. Every increase required immense effort.
While the true Mo Yu followed the way of lightning, his avatar's path was the way of the divine body—pure, unyielding flesh cultivated through ancient beast arts.
But progress along this path was painstakingly slow. The higher the level, the harder it became.
And yet, from this single piece of Blood Spirit Mud, his body had grown stronger again.
"This really is a divine treasure for the physical body…" he muttered in awe.
Nearby, Cai Lin smiled faintly. She now understood well the difference between the true Mo Yu and his avatar—not in will or spirit, but in cultivation. One pursued lightning; the other, the body of the beast. Beyond that distinction, there was none.
Indeed, if the avatar's power surpassed that of the true body, then he would become the main Mo Yu, while the other would be reduced to an extension. They mirrored each other perfectly.
The strangeness of such a dual existence intrigued her at first, though she had since grown used to it. When they eventually fused again, their combined strengths would merge completely, forming a single Mo Yu wielding both body and lightning—a terrifying prospect.
"Brother Mo Yu," Mang Yu said brightly, her eyes glimmering. "Do you know how valuable that bit of Blood Spirit Mud was? Outside this realm, it's worth at least hundreds of thousands of Supreme Spirit Liquid—and even then, you might never find one for sale!"
He chuckled faintly. "Then I owe you thanks indeed."
She giggled. "We're companions, aren't we? Besides, your true self is an Earth Sovereign. Someday you'll reach that level too. Becoming a Sovereign like that... is my dream."
Mo Yu's avatar smiled kindly. "You'll achieve it."
Her grin spread wider, a radiant flash of joy lighting her youthful face.
Mang Lie spoke up quietly. "This Blood Spirit Mud is one of the key resources our clan seeks in the Divine Beast Origin. But it's rare to find, even here. That small piece was pure luck from Yu's discovery."
The avatar nodded, lightly turning over what remained on his tongue, savoring its lingering warmth. A hunger stirred within him. If he could obtain more, his physical strength could soar—and perhaps advance his Force Ape form further.
Cai Lin, noticing his thoughtful expression, smiled knowingly. "Be patient. When we're closer to the Divine Beast Origin itself, the floating meteors will grow larger. We're bound to find more Blood Spirit Mud."
With that, she, Mang Lie, and Mang Yu all sat cross-legged atop the stone, channeling their spirit energy into silent meditation while the rock carried them deeper through the void.
Mo Yu's avatar followed suit, falling into quiet focus. Yet his sharp eyes occasionally gleamed, scanning the darkness ahead for fresh meteors.
He could hardly contain his anticipation. If treasures like the Blood Spirit Mud existed even in the outskirts of this realm, what wonders awaited within the true heart of the Divine Beast Origin?
The thought of surpassing his true self, even for a moment, sent a thrill through him.
The endless dark swallowed all sound as their colossal stone glided ahead.
Time slipped away uncounted. They had changed "mounts" several times now, leaping between drifting rocks, but fortune had not favored them again.
Mang Lie eventually opened his eyes, gaze piercing the void. "It should be less than half a day before we reach the boundary of the Divine Beast Origin."
Mo Yu's avatar nodded faintly but kept scanning the horizon.
Mang Yu giggled softly. "Don't worry, Brother Mo Yu. Once we're close, the meteors will become more frequent. There's still a chance you'll find more treasures."
The avatar smiled wordlessly in response.
Their current meteor streaked silently through the void—their final one before they arrived.
Time passed. Suddenly, Mo Yu's avatar opened his eyes again, turning sharply toward the left. A tremor rippled through the blackness, revealing multiple streaking boulders rushing by like ghostly shadows.
He focused his senses, scanning every rock carefully. Nothing… until one smaller meteor drew his attention.
It glowed faintly gray-black, unlike the others. And within it—he sensed it—a flicker of blood light pulsing deep inside.
That unmistakable aura.
"Blood Spirit Mud."
Without hesitation, he struck out with a single punch. Spiritual energy surged forth, detonating into the void. The meteor exploded on impact, shards scattering in every direction.
From within, a streak of crimson light burst free.
He extended his palm and pulled. The crimson streak spiraled back into his grip, landing snugly in his hand.
Opening his fingers, he saw it clearly—a lump of blood-red clay, the size of an infant's fist, glowing faintly with life essence. Its scent of blood and power was intoxicating.
It was another piece of Blood Spirit Mud—the treasure his heart had been craving.
