After a wonderful night with Sabrina, Gladion dropped her back home. They stood together on the quiet porch of her house in Saffron City. Sabrina looked up at him with a gentle smile.
"Glady, it was a wonderful night," she said softly.
Gladion smiled back. His heart felt light. "It was."
Sabrina tilted her head a little. "So… are we a couple now?"
Gladion felt his face warm up. He rubbed the back of his neck. "I guess we are."
Sabrina's smile grew bigger. She stepped closer and took his hand. "Good. Because I was tired of waiting for you to figure it out."
Gladion laughed quietly. "I am sorry it took so long."
Sabrina shook her head. "Do not be sorry. You were dealing with a lot. Gym duties. Business. Moltres. Team Rocket. Legendaries. I understand. But now we are together. That is what matters."
They stood there for a few more minutes. Neither wanted to say goodbye yet. The night felt perfect.
Out of nowhere, Sabrina looked at him with wide eyes. "Are we going to do sex now?"
Gladion sputtered. Whatever he was going to say next disappeared from his mind. "Whaa… tt?"
Sabrina blinked innocently. "You know. The thing that people do to make babies. The man's peni—"
Gladion's face turned bright red. He waved his hands fast. "I know what sex is!"
Sabrina tilted her head. "Then why are you so surprised? We are a couple now. Couples do that, right?"
Gladion felt his brain short-circuit. He opened his mouth. Closed it. Opened it again. "Sabrina… we just had our first date. We are not… we are not doing that yet."
Sabrina said, "Ah good, my father said that I should say 'no' if you asked for this. He said that his baby girl would not be touched by another man until she is 50! He said that he would have you whipped if you did something heinous to me. He also said damn your Tyrnaitar and legendaries and he is not scared of them if it is me in question"
Gladion internally screamed, 'Whats Wrong with the entire family!'
Gladion rubbed his face with both hands. "Yes, but… not on the first date. Not right after dinner. Not when we are still figuring things out."
Sabrina crossed her arms. "So when?"
Gladion groaned. "Later. Much later. When we are both ready. When it feels right."
Sabrina thought for a second. "Okay. But if you change your mind, just tell me. I am ready whenever you are."
Gladion's face could not get any redder. He thought, 'Sometimes I forget how clueless she is about this stuff. She is so direct. It is terrifying and adorable at the same time.'
Sabrina suddenly laughed. "You look like a tomato right now."
Gladion groaned again. "Please stop."
Gladion was okay with his decision. It was just their first date. He wanted to go slow.
Even though he was sixteen, he wanted to wait a little. In his previous life he had died a virgin. Now he was experiencing adolescence again.
Sixteen was not a bad age to lose virginity, especially for someone who had never had the chance before. But he knew both he and Sabrina should take their time. Rushing would ruin something special. He wanted their relationship to grow naturally. He wanted trust and understanding first. Physical things could wait. He had waited years in his old life. He could wait a little longer in this one.
He wanted Sabrina to feel safe and loved. Not pressured. Not rushed. He wanted every step to mean something. He wanted to build memories together before anything more. That was more important than anything physical.
He looked at her and smiled. "We will get there. When the time is right. No hurry."
Sabrina nodded. "No hurry."
Gladion gave her one more hug. "Good night, Sabrina."
"Good night, Glady."
He teleported away with a soft flash.
Gladion decided to take a walk before going back to Moonwood Town. He appeared in a quiet park near the city edge. The night air was cool. He walked slowly along the path and let his mind settle.
He thought about his upcoming exhibition match with Bruno, the Fighting-type Elite Four member. "I should not reveal any new Pokémon this time. Not that I have many surprises left in my bag. The only one left is Grandpa's Rhyperior, but I am going to save him for now. There is already Mega Evolution and my two legendaries that I have revealed in the past week."
He kicked a small stone on the path. "Maybe that is why Giovanni became suspicious of me. I reveal something new every time. He might think I am a very big information network that reaches even outside Indigo. And I have somehow infiltrated Team Rocket through this information network and knew that he was a part of Team rocket."
Gladion shrugged. "Well, anyway. My team for the match will surely have Guy. He is itching for a good fight, and I have not used him in a while. Guy would love to fight against other well-trained Fighting types. Heck, I believe Bruno's Pokémon might be the only ones that train as much as Guy. That guy is a fucking musclehead through and through."
He smiled at the thought. "Lee would be another good pick. Let us see how Bruno's Fighting types deal with a Ghost-Fighting type."
He counted on his fingers. "Hydros, Arsenal, Mystique, and Zeus should make up the rest of the team. Not that I think I will need to use all of them, but these guys have not fought in a real Pokémon battle in some time."
He knew picking Collosus would be overkill. The audience wanted a good match before the tournament started. They wanted to stay on the edge of their seats. Collosus would end it too fast for them.
It did not matter how strong Bruno and his Pokemon were, they would still be weaker than the Alpha Tyrnaitar.
Even Gladion himself felt excited. He was tired of battles where he had to kill or survive. He was tired of fighting legendaries or criminals. What he needed now was the thrill of a real Pokémon battle. A fair fight. Skill against skill. Strategy against strategy. The kind of battle that made his heart race for the right reasons.
He looked up at the stars. "Bruno, huh? This is going to be fun."
He teleported back to Moonwood Town with a smile.
