Chapter 101 - Space Paradox - New Home - Judgement Hall

The Long Hallway Before the Judgment

The children walked forward through the dim, silent corridor. Each step echoed faintly, and a sense of weight seemed to press down on them with every step. At the end of the hallway, a figure was waiting, leaning casually against the wall. Sans.

Sans turned his head slightly, his permanent grin unchanging, though there was an undeniable weight in his sockets as they regarded the group. The room felt colder, heavier, as though the air itself carried the weight of the choices they had made.

Sans:

"hey. you've been busy, huh?"

He stood up straight, his hands still in his pockets.

Sans:

"so... it's almost time. you're about to meet asgore. you know what that means, right? your journey's almost over. but here's the thing. you got a say in how this ends."

His tone was light, but there was something deeper underneath—a note of caution, of judgment.

Sans:

"but before you go meet the big guy... let's take a moment to talk about the choices you've made. 'cause down here, kid... choices matter."

He stepped forward slightly, his sockets dark and heavy.

Sans:

"let's see... you spared some monsters, yeah. but you also took a few lives. whimsuns, froggits, a vegetoid or two... ringin' any bells? maybe you had your reasons, maybe you didn't. but those reasons don't matter much to the ones you dusted, do they?"

His grin widened slightly, though it felt sharper, colder now.

Sans:

"see, here's the deal. this world runs on a little thing we like to call 'karma.' you might call it 'love,' or 'justice,' or whatever. but really, it boils down to this—what you do? it sticks to you. every act leaves a mark, whether you see it or not."

He leaned back slightly, as though relaxing, but his words carried the same weight.

Sans:

"now, i've been watchin' you. every step of the way. and i gotta say... you're not all bad. you spared a lotta folks, even when you didn't have to. that takes guts, y'know? and, hey, even sparin' papyrus... that meant somethin'."

He paused, his sockets narrowing slightly.

Sans:

"but then there's the flipside. the monsters you dusted. did you really need to do it? or were you just... lookin' for an easy way out? i guess what i'm askin' is... why? why'd you make those choices?"

For a moment, the room was silent. Sans didn't move, just stared at them, waiting, as if he was looking directly into their souls.

Finally, he sighed, breaking the tension slightly.

Sans:

"look, i ain't here to give you a lecture. i'm just layin' it out for ya. what you've done matters. and what you're about to do? that's gonna matter even more."

He stepped aside, motioning toward the door behind him.

Sans:

"so, what happens next? that's up to you. you can still make things right. or you can double down and keep goin' the way you've been. either way... i'll be watchin'."

For a moment, his grin seemed to falter, and a faint light flickered in his sockets—like stars, distant but unyielding.

Sans:

"oh, and one more thing. no matter what you choose... asgore's not gonna back down. he's gonna fight you. and trust me... it won't be easy. but hey, that's life, right? nothing's ever easy."

With that, he turned and began walking away, his footsteps echoing faintly in the quiet hallway.

Sans:

"good luck, kid. you're gonna need it."

And then, just like that, he was gone, leaving the children to face the door ahead—and the judgment of King Asgore.

The scene captures Sans' dual nature—lighthearted yet deeply insightful—while addressing their actions throughout their journey, highlighting the importance of their choices and setting the tone for the climactic confrontation with Asgore.
