Chapter 77 - Even steel bends

Avalanche lets out a laugh as the two dragons separate. The more they fight, the more he gets used to Darkstalker's fighting, letting him adjust as he looks down below. "See how futile resistance is? Your precious humans are nothing compared to Gigantomakia!" Darkstalker looks down to see that everything has failed.

Now free from the mud, Gigantomakia has thrown off all the heroes and changed into a more agile form as he starts to pick up speed. Seeing the Paranormal Liberation Front soldiers close in, Darkstalker shoots a blast of fire at Avalanche before diving down.

Crushing a squad of men, Darkstalker unleashes flames as the students pick themselves back up. "Stop! You aren't authorised to kill them!" Midnight shouts as he glances down at her. "What makes you think they'll show you that mercy?" He rumbles as she bows her head.

"Gather the wounded; we need to evacuate the cities before Gigantomakia reaches them." He orders as Avalanche circles above. Midnight, Mt. Lady, and the other pro heroes gather everyone as the PLF gives them a wide berth. Seeing them too afraid to come closer, Darkstalker smiles with all his teeth.

"Is everyone here?" He asks, turning to Midnight as she nods, "Other than Fukikage, who rushed Hawks to the hospital, yes. Why?" Darkstalker says nothing as he channels his power and circles them all, digging a trench in the dirt. "Send them all safely and without injury to the hospital where Fumikage Tokoyami and Pro Hero Hawks are. They will arrive in an open area that can accommodate them so they can receive medical attention."

"Wait, what are you-" Before Midnight can finish her sentence, she and the others disappear. "Since when could he do that?!" Sceptic shouted from Gigantomakia's back as the giant turned to face Darkstalker, feeling like this ant would get in the way of his master's plan.

"Kill it!" Stain roared as he led the charge, Dabi and Spinner right behind him as Avalanche spewed frost breath. Flames clashed with frost as Darkstalker bats Stain away. "Find a weakness, I only need one drop of blood!" He screams as quirks fly through the air, sparking against scales or disappearing as they do no damage.

Avalanche gets ready to dive but decides against it as Gigantomakia roars and body slams Darkstalker, throwing him to the ground. Not yet finished, he pushes through molten flames as he grabs the dragon by the skull and starts slamming it into the ground, again and again.

With an angry roar, Darkstalker throws Makia off as Re-Destro and Avalanche charge in, now with a plan as they hammer his skull again and again. Again, he threw them off as he stood up in the crater his skull had dug, as he slowly returned to human form.

"Not so strong without your little heroes, are you?" Avalanche taunted as the human Darkstalker grinned up at him. "No. Now I can stop playing." He kicked off the ground, slamming his feet into Spinner's chest before pushing off towards Re-Destro. Seeing the black blur approach, Re-Destro increases his stress level and barely catches his foot.

"I wonder how long you'll last?" Darkstalker questions as Stain jumps at him. He parries the blow with his claws before slashing at him, drawing blood before Stain can get away. "Use caution, he's more agile now." Stain called out as Dabi shot a burst of flames, while Mr Compress threw rubble at him. Darkstalker seemed to float through the attacks as he cut down more soldiers.

"Is this the best you can do?" He taunts as Toga gets up, only to get shoved back down by Compress. "Stay up here. He's too dangerous." He keeps a hand on her shoulder as Avalanche takes a hit to the jaw, forcing his mouth shut as Gigantomakia swings a massive fist.

He rolls out of the way as Makia carves out a new trench. Avoiding the giant for now, Darkstalker goes after the Paranormal Liberation Front soldiers, killing dozens before Stain and Re-Destro can reach him. "Leave us! Go forth and seize your freedom!" Re-Destro orders the survivors as they charge towards the city.

Sparks fly as Stain's katana scrapes across scales. Re-Destro gets in a gut punch that throws him into the air, where Avalanche is waiting with a blast of frost. Flames burst forth as Darkstalker's wings emerge from his back, and he uses them to start tearing into Avalanche as the ones on the ground regroup atop Gigantomakia.

"What do we do? Either way, we can't break his defenses." Spinner looks to Stain for guidance as Stain wonders how they could breach his defenses. "Maybe if we rattle his brain enough, he'll give up!" Toga shouts, still enraged at the death of Twice, eager to kill anything that threatens her friends.

"Let's do that then, smash his skull in until it breaks." Unable to think of anything logical that could bypass Darkstalkers' scales, he green-lights the plan as Avalanche crashes to the ground, wings torn to shreds. "Where did that arrogance go? Maybe you'll find it in the air, not that you'll ever fly again." Darkstlaker sneered as he glanced up to see Gigantomakia rear back his arm and throw Re-Destro at him.

Crossing his arms, he is still thrown back as his feet carve two deep trenches. "Don't stop, keep up the pressure!" Stain goes for the eyes as Spinner and Dabi jump in as well. Parrying the blade, Darkstalker slashes at Spinner's monstrous amalgam of a sword before taking a flame-wreathed punch to the face.

"Pathetic, even Endeavor's flames tickle more than this." That enrages Dabi as he goes all out, wreathing his body in flames as they engage in hand-to-hand combat, trading punches left and right as the other circles for an opportunity. As Re-Destro circles, his prosthetic leg falters, damaged from earlier fights against Fumikage, and Darkstalker notices.

He punches Dabi away and lunges for Destro as the other close in. Ripping the false leg in two, he bats away a punch from Re-Destro when a shadow blocks the light of the sun, quickly shifting into dragon form. Darklstalker avoids being slammed hundreds of feet down into the earth, but ends up dazed as Gigantomakia slams his fists into his head repeatedly.

Feeling dazed, Dakstalker tries to push himself up only to get slammed back down by an ever greater force. Giving up with fists, Gigantomakia is now slamming his feet on his head as Avalanche limps over, sucking in a large amount of air. He tries to think of a spell to get them off, but having his brain bounce around in his skull is making it difficult to think, and the pressure suddenly stops.

"MOVE OUT OF THE WAY!" Someone shouts as he glances up, watching as Gigantomakia plummets to the earth feet first, driving his skull down deep as his mind finally gives out, and he falls unconscious. Makia quickly moves aside as Avalanche unleashes a concentrated blast of frost breath, freezing Darkstalker's skull solid as he too falls to the ground unconscious.

--------------

As Gigantomakia runs through the city, dragging the two unconscious dragons along the ground, Stain and the rest of the League wonder how they're supposed to help Tomura and how he plans to kill Carter. "I don't think giving him brain damage is an option. Despite not being wounded, I wouldn't be surprised if he's got a healing factor as Avalanche does." Mr Compress said as Stain nodded.

"We would most likely have to kill it from the inside. Its scales have proven to be indestructible, unlike its frozen counterpart." Stain noted as he glanced down at the pair. He wanted both of them dead, regardless of what Tomura thought. Carter was the reason they were working together in the first place. Stain wanted, no, NEEDED Carter dead. All For One was supposed to be the one to kill him, but now only Tomura was left.

As the heroes frantically tried to slow Gigantomakia down, Himiko noticed Ochako and Tsuyu down below and decided she was going to get the answer to the question that was burning inside her. "I'll be right back." She said before hopping off, and Makia slowed down enough that she'd be able to easily jump back on.

As Nejire and Ida make their way over to the heroes fighting Tomura, Nejire asks, "So why are you going? They only called for heroes who could fly." Ida nods as he leaps over a fallen lampost. "I'm more than ready to face the inevitable consequences of my disobeying direct orders, but three of my classmates are fighting that monster. Two have taught me a valuable lesson, and I intend to return the favor. I also bring news."

"Oh, what's that?" Nejire asks as his answer makes her freeze. "Carter has been captured by the League and is being drug here by Gigantomakia as we speak." She almost fell out of the air, snapping out of it before hitting a wall as she demanded to know how he'd been captured. "I don't know either," Ida shrugged helplessly, "We only know because we say it being broadcast on the news."

Seeing him flying towards him, Shoto grunts as he catches Deku. Setting Endeavor, Katsumi, and Deku down, he's about to start first-aid when he notices that Tomura is still standing, using the rivets coming from his fingers and back to stay up.

'Tomura, you need to leave. Your body is not ready for the full strain of using my quirk.' AFO tells him, as Tomura ignores him, 'You're not the boss of me anymore.' AFO watches from within Tomura's body as Nejire blows him away using a concentrated wave of energy.

"Shoto, we have to warn the heroes here. Gigantomakia is almost here, and he's got Carter! The heroes fighting the Nomu have already been alerted." He said as Shoto looked up, shocked. For too long now, Carter had been an insurmountable mountain that Shoto struggled to chase after; to hear he'd been defeated was shocking.

"We need to get the injured out first," Shoto says as Nejire glares at Tomura upon seeing Ryukyu's cracked scales. "More maggots, this is getting annoying," Tomura mutters as Deku forces his body up, despite the pain in his limbs. "I can't leave. Tomura is after my quirk." He says as Shoto nods.

"Then we fight together." Shoto, Deku, and Nejire get ready as Ida starts first aid on the heroes he can. Tomura dodges flames and waves from Shoto and Nejire as Gigantomakia shakes the ground with his footsteps. "Too late, heroes, my ride is here." He grins as AFO echoes within him.

'You need to leave with Gigantomakia. Your body is not yet able to handle the strain.' Just before Tomura can tell him to go away, Shoto and Nejire unleash their ultimate moves, finally knocking Tomura unconscious as the damage finally catches up with him.

"LOOK OUT!" Ida yells as Gigantomakia swats them aside using Darkstalker's body. "Let me down." Katsumi demands weakly as Ida denies it, "I have to get a perfect fucking victory." Katsumi says as Gigantomakia releases Darkstalker to gently bring Tomura up to his back, where Stain and Spinner start checking all the damage.

"To think you'd be defeated in such a way. I can't even be upset; such ingenuity is rare in humans." A voice said as Carter's eyes snapped open. "Where?!" He shot up only to get held down by a massive claw. "Don't move just yet, we have some talking to do." As his eyes adjusted to the darkness, Carter realised he was looking at Darkstalker.

"How did I come back here?" He asked as the claw holding him down tapped his head. "Well, since you covered most vulnerabilities, the humans had to get creative to defeat you. Still couldn't get past that spell, though, they had to use it against you." Darkstalker chuckled as Carter sighed.

"I take it I'm not dead yet?" The dragon shook its head as Carter closed his eyes and lay there enjoying the silence that came from not being in a world full of humans. "What do you think will happen when I return?" He asked the ancient dragon as it rested beside him.

"Some will most likely see this lapse in judgment as a potential weakness for them to exploit. Others will adore or fear you, a myriad of options really, so take your pick." Darkstalker said, flicking his massive tail as Carter felt his headache die down. It was time to go back. "Be careful, something has been watching you," Darkstalker warned before his eyes snapped open, his body being used as cover as blue flames washed over him.
