Shin had completely lost track of how long they had been in hibernation. It seemed like an eternity had passed.
Suddenly, a repetitive beeping resounded through the pod, jolting him awake. The hibernation sequence was complete.
Shin pushed the pod door open and stretched his stiff muscles, taking in his surroundings. He glanced over at Amela, who had also just woken up.
Over the course of the ten-year journey (which only aged their bodies by two years due to the hibernation stasis), Amela had grown significantly. She was now a beautiful, fully developed sixteen-year-old girl. The abrasive edges of her youth had smoothed out, giving her a slightly more mature, remarkable appearance.
"Have we finally arrived?" Amela asked, rubbing her eyes and looking out the viewport. "Is this the place you were talking about?"
"Yes, we are here," Shin replied. "But honestly, I don't understand why you insisted on using the slowest cruising speed. If we had accelerated, we could have been here in ten months."
Amela looked down at the bright blue and green planet below them. "So this is Earth? I thought it would look more impressive. It just looks like a standard, low-level planet."
She tapped her scouter, adjusting the lens. "Well, let's see just how 'powerful' these Earthlings really are—hahaha."
A moment later, the scouter beeped.
"Power Level: 400?" Amela blinked in surprise. "Okay, that is actually completely unexpected. For a backwater planet like this to have someone with a Power Level of 400 is highly unusual."
"That is Bardock's son," Shin stated calmly. "And by the way, I should probably tell you... Planet Vegeta has been completely destroyed."
"I knew it was going to happen ahead of time, which is exactly why I dragged you onto this ship and got us out of there."
Amela scoffed, clearly not believing a word he said. "Yeah, right. That is not funny, Carola."
She immediately tapped her scouter, trying to establish a comm link with her commanding officer back home. But all she got was static. The signal was completely dead.
She tried multiple different frequencies, but the result was the same. Planet Vegeta was gone.
"Are you telling the truth?" Amela whispered, her face going pale. "Was it really Frieza?? That bastard!"
"I am going to kill him! I swear I am going to kill him!" she yelled, slamming her fist against the console. "But our Power Levels are still way too low..."
"Maybe... maybe if I could figure out how to transform, we might have a chance," she uttered, holding her tail tightly.
Shin smiled. "Don't worry about Frieza right now. Our priority is making contact. As I mentioned, there is another Saiyan who arrived on this planet long before us. His original name is Kakarot."
"Kakarot?" Amela perked up, a trace of recognition in her eyes. "Uncle Bardock's son! Okay, that definitely makes things easier."
Suddenly, her scouter sounded again, picking up a dim energy signature rapidly approaching Earth.
"Wait," Amela frowned. "I am picking up another power signature heading our way. It is weak, but it is moving fast. The signature... it is Raditz!"
"Why is Kakarot's older brother coming here? Is he planning to conquer this planet?"
Shin chuckled. His timing was absolutely flawless. They had arrived exactly at the very beginning of the Dragon Ball Z saga, just before Raditz landed to kidnap Gohan.
But Shin wasn't going to let the canon events play out. If he wanted to become the strongest entity in this universe, counting solely on his Saiyan biology wouldn't be enough. He needed to fundamentally change the story.
His plan was simple: avoid the initial bloodbath, train the remaining Saiyans, and then point them all directly at Frieza.
"Don't worry about Raditz for now," Shin said casually. "Follow me. We need to learn a few crucial techniques first. As soon as we have those, Earth's true potential will unlock."
"Alright, I will follow your lead," Amela sighed, crossing her arms. "I honestly don't know what else to do right now."
Shin smiled warmly. "Good. From now on, I am going to call you my little sister. And you are going to call me your older brother."
Amela shot him a weird look. "Um, I have always called you my older brother. Why are you making it sound like some weird, special request? But fine, whatever. Since you look so pathetic right now, I will play along."
Shin mentally facepalmed. Sisters truly were an incomprehensible species.
"Alright, let's head out," Shin said, modifying his own scouter. "Lock onto the highest power signature on the planet."
"There is one sitting at around 180," Shin noted. "That should be the Kami of Earth."
While Shin was somewhat adrift in this new, terrifying universe, he knew exactly what his first steps had to be in order to secure his survival and rapid growth.
First, he needed to learn Ki Control from Kami. Second, he needed to enter the Hyperbolic Time Chamber.
If he could perfectly fuse the immense, chaotic chakra of the Ten-Tails with Saiyan Ki inside the Time Chamber, his baseline Power Level would skyrocket into the stratosphere.
And beyond that, he still had his ultimate trump card: the Eight Inner Gates.
While opening the Gates normally caused severe, irreversible physical damage, his multiversal abilities gave him a massive exploit. If he utilized the Edo Tensei and the Samsara of Heavenly Life, he could theoretically spam the Eighth Gate without any permanent consequences.
"Alright, we are heading to that specific location," Shin commanded.
"Raditz won't arrive for another day, so we have exactly twenty-four hours to prepare. As long as you listen to my instructions, I guarantee you will become stronger than me. But if you slack off, you are on your own."
Amela gritted her teeth, clearly annoyed by his bossy tone. "I get it! You don't have to keep repeating yourself!"
Shin shook his head in amusement. Her temper was still as explosive as ever.
"Alright then, let's fly," Shin said.

The two Saiyans blasted off into the sky, rocketing directly toward Kami's Lookout.
Meanwhile, high above the clouds, Kami was meditating. Suddenly, his eyes snapped open. He had initially sensed a dark, hostile presence approaching Earth from deep space (Raditz), but now, two vastly more powerful energies had suddenly materialized within the atmosphere.
"What kind of terrifying entities have set their sights on Earth?" Kami muttered, sweat beading on his green forehead. "If they intend to cause harm, Earth is truly doomed."
A few minutes later, Shin and Amela touched down smoothly on the pristine tiles of the Lookout.
Shin offered a polite, disarming smile to the terrified Namekian.
"Excuse the intrusion," Shin said casually. "We don't mean any harm, as you probably already know. We simply came here to learn a specific technique."
Kami gripped his staff tightly, staring at the two interlopers. "Who exactly are you? And why are you here?"
"I will be direct," Shin replied. "We came here for revenge, but not against anyone on this planet. We are hunting a tyrant who destroyed our home world. We belong to the same warrior race as a certain martial artist who lives down below."
"You are the Kami of this planet, correct? Then perhaps this will clarify things."
Shin turned around, clearly displaying the furry brown monkey tail wrapped around his waist. Amela did the same.
Kami's eyes grew wider in recognition. "Those tails... You are of the same race as Goku!"
"Exactly," Shin nodded. "We are here to find Kakarot—or Goku, as you call him. We are his kin. We came from the stars."
"Or, as you Earthlings would say, we are aliens."
Kami was completely bewildered. The situation was escalating far beyond his control.
"If you are highly advanced aliens," Kami questioned cautiously, "what could you possibly want to learn from a place like this?"
"I will explain," Shin said calmly. "A catastrophe is about to strike this planet. We are here to prevent it. You can rest easy knowing we have absolutely no hostile intentions toward Earth."
Amela, clearly bored with the diplomatic banter, crossed her arms and scowled. "Didn't you say this guy was going to make us stronger?? Why are you wasting time talking?? Let's just get the power-up already!"
