Deep within The Alps. HYDRABase.
Johann Schmidt, the supreme commander of HYDRA, was staring intensely at a copy of The Stars and Stripes from the United States on his desk.
The front page of the newspaper featured a deeply insulting cartoon in the most garish, blood-red font.
It depicted a wretched, scrawny dwarf wearing a comical red mask, kneeling on the ground.
He was looking up with jealousy at a radiant figure in the sky.
That figure was none other than Soldier Boy, who had been crowned with the title of "God of War."
Beneath the kneeling Joker, the cartoon labeled his name in German—Red Skull.
"Bang!" Schmidt slammed his fist onto the desk.
The totem of terror he had built with his own hands, sufficient to make all of Europe tremble in fear!
The symbol of the HYDRA spirit he was so proud of!
Had actually been twisted by a reporter he had never even considered a threat, through a few ridiculous reports, into a laughingstock despised by everyone!
A Joker? Jealous? A pervert hiding in the gutter?
"Lynn Morris!"
Just then, the office door was pushed open. Professor PygValentine walked in with his newly completed "doll."
The doll was stitched together from the limbs of several fallen SS elite soldiers, its exposed skin covered in gruesome stitches.
Its strength and speed far exceeded that of an ordinary person, making it Valentine's latest masterpiece.
"Führer, please behold my new work of art..." Valentine's hoarse voice carried a tone of seeking approval.
But Red Skull merely glanced at it and waved his hand in disgust, his eyes filled with undisguised rage.
"Not enough!" He pointed at the newspaper on the floor, his voice roaring as if from hell.
"This clumsy stitching only validates the mockery in the newspaper! A pile of rotting flesh! Is this your art? Valentine!"
He pointed to the screen on the wall, which was looping footage of Soldier Boy wreaking havoc.
"What I want is transcendence! Evolution! Not this boring pile of rotting corpses!"
Professor Pyg was stunned by the sudden outburst of anger. He lowered his head and whispered in a tone that sounded almost like sleep-talking: "Perfect art requires perfect raw materials."
Red Skull's raging fury was doused like a bucket of cold water upon hearing those words.
Raw materials... Yes, he didn't have perfect raw materials.
The Americans had Dr. Erskine and the Super Soldier Serum. And he only had a half-finished laboratory destroyed by Dr. Erskine and a vial of serum that had nearly killed him.
Just as Red Skull was trapped in this vicious cycle of humiliation and resentment, a communications officer rushed in, looking panicked, holding an urgent intelligence report.
"Führer! Latest news from New York!"
A blurry but still shocking video was projected onto the main screen. In the suburbs of New York under the cover of night, a meteor fell from the sky, creating a deep crater.
Immediately after, a humanoid creature covered in flames slowly stood up from the bottom of the crater. Bathed in the inferno, he looked like a god.
He smiled at the camera, a smile filled only with curiosity and friendliness. But to Red Skull, this smile was more piercing than the most vicious curse!
Is this F--King mass-producing gods? Are they making dumplings here?
How do the damn Allied Forces always run into such good things?
Red Skull felt like his lungs were about to explode with rage.
Beside him, Professor PygValentine was staring intently at the burning figure on the screen, his breathing becoming increasingly rapid.
What he saw was not a god, nor an enemy. It was a perfect "raw material." A perfect "energy source"! An ultimate "catalyst" that could make all his crazy ideas come to fruition!
"Fire... purification... rebirth..." Valentine began to mutter to himself incessantly. In his eyes, hidden behind the mask, a fanatical light erupted, unlike anything seen before.
An incredibly insane plan quickly formed in his mind. Professor Pyg turned to Red Skull. "I need maximum authority! I need all the resources in the laboratory!"
Red Skull snapped out of his rage, frowning as he looked at the suddenly manic Valentine. "I want to research a biological tissue that can absorb and convert energy!"
Valentine's voice became shrill with excitement. "This Human Torch is a gift from God! It is the key to opening the door to a new World!"
Red Skull looked at the madness in Valentine's eyes, a madness capable of burning everything down, and fell silent. The Allied Forces' repeated provocations had pushed him to his limit.
Conventional means could no longer defeat the net of influence that man had cast in the realms of public opinion and mythology. Since that was the case... then he would use madness to fight madness!
"Zola!" Red Skull growled into the communicator.
A moment later, a short, stout man wearing thick glasses trotted into the office. Arnim Zola, HYDRA's chief scientist. A genius with extraordinary attainments in both genetics and data fields.
"Führer." Zola adjusted his glasses, looking back and forth between Professor Pyg and the Human Torch on the screen, appearing somewhat confused.
"Zola, Valentine has a crazy idea." Red Skull's voice returned to calm. Beneath that calmness lay a deeper, more profound cruelty.
"He wants to capture that Human Torch alive and use his energy to perfect his work of art."
Dr.Zola's brow furrowed tightly. He pushed up his glasses, and a flash of disdain appeared in his eyes behind the lenses.
"Führer, if I may speak frankly, ProfessorValentine's art is a regression in biology. Using a pile of rotting flesh to fight an energy entity? This is no different than poking a Hive with a wooden stick."
"Who are you calling rotting flesh!" Professor Pyg was enraged, his hoarse voice turning shrill.
"Shut up!" Red Skull barked, stopping the quarrel between the two mad scientists. He ignored Valentine and locked his gaze onto Zola.
"To what stage has the research on the Tesseract progressed?"
Mentioning the Tesseract, a look of confidence appeared on Dr.Zola's face.
"We have successfully extracted 3% of its energy, and the production line for the new energy weapons is ready. With just your command, we can grant every HYDRA soldier the power of a god!"
"3%... Not enough." Red Skull walked to the floor-to-ceiling window of the office, looking down at the massive underground Base below.
He turned around. His crimson skull looked exceptionally hideous under the lights. "Do you have a way to inject the Tesseract's energy into these... dolls of Valentine's?"
Dr.Zola was stunned; he had not expected Red Skull to make such a whimsical request.
"Führer... this... this is theoretically feasible. However, the risk is extremely high!"
"The Tesseract's energy is too overbearing; ProfessorValentine's biological tissues simply cannot withstand the energy infusion!"
"I don't need them to withstand it; I need them to become a container!" Red Skull interrupted him.
"A one-time bomb that can deliver the Tesseract's energy to the enemy!"
Dr.Zola understood Red Skull's intention. Using a biological bomb containing the Tesseract's energy to deal with the Human Torch, who was also an energy entity?
What an insane plan this was!
"This... this will require a large number of experiments, and the success rate..."
"I don't care about the success rate!" Red Skull pointed at the burning figure on the screen, stabbing heavily at the Human Torch's burning face.
"I want you to capture him alive!"
