[Chapter Size: 2000 Words.]
Third Person POV
Skellige.
...
...
After taking everything he needed, rummaging through Vilgefortz's mind, a clean cut appeared on the mage's neck with the sound of metal at high speed.
A millisecond later, blood trickled from a line on his neck and the head immediately separated from the body, rolling a few centimeters away from the main body.
Vilgefortz was dead. Now, no one could deny it, not among those three who shared that room. In the end, the great mage had been killed, killed there like an animal after having all his secrets uncovered by the scarlet eyes.
Madara briefly looked at him with the katana in hand before turning his gaze back to the other two in the room.
If either of them was dissatisfied with him, for having killed Vilgefortz with the final strike to the neck... they had not expressed it. Ciri and Eleanor only kept their eyes fixed on the corpse.
Eleanor stared at the scene in silence. She had lost her daughter to Vilgefortz, and since then she didn't have much left to lose in her life, as she was practically living as an immortal vampire.
Ciri had her home burned down. Perhaps Vilgefortz wasn't the main culprit, and perhaps, even without him, Nilfgaard would have attacked just the same. Still, she couldn't deny that he had played a key role in the war against Cintra. Madara and Ciri also had to escape the traps the sorcerer set along the way. There was also the attempted attack at Kaer Morhen and the way he had harmed them during the wedding.
Even so, neither of them complained for not being the one to deliver the final blow that killed him. After all, Madara himself had finished the job.
"That's strange... I feel relieved, but at the same time empty. My daughter will not return again." Eleanor was the first to break the silence, with a melancholic tone.
Tears began to fall from her eyes. Then, she stepped forward and kicked Vilgefortz's head.
"You bastard! Because of you, my daughter is dead! I could never see her again!" she said, in tears, as the head rolled across the floor, hitting the wall before ending up in another corner of the room.
She was about to lunge forward again, but Madara placed his hand on her shoulder.
"He is just a corpse now. There is no reason to keep gnawing at him. He is already gone. Your daughter will not be brought back, but at least you avenged her. You let her spirit rest." he said in a calm tone.
"But I will not see her again... Could I not join her? They say vampires no longer have a soul..." she said.
"I cannot say whether they have spirits or not. But your daughter would want you to move on. She would not blame you for what happened. She would not have called you a monster if she had not been frightened that night. You avenged your husband and you avenged your daughter. You must be satisfied with that and now move forward." Madara spoke.
"The problem is that I don't know what to do now..." she said, still crying.
"That is something I cannot tell you either. Only you must decide what to do." Madara replied, in a calm tone.
"Madara is right." Ciri stepped forward as well, seeming to have empathy for the vampire. "Your daughter, even your husband, would want you not to lose yourself in lament. Today you avenged them... didn't you?"
"And you told me you are quite a wealthy woman, considered a noble here in this kingdom. I'm sure you can live in greater luxury than the vast majority of people in this world." Madara said.
"Alright... I will have much to think about now." she said at last, while Madara began to take out a scroll. He placed Vilgefortz's body, after putting the head and torso side by side.
Unfortunately, he no longer had the body of a great mage, as he had in his prime. Vilgefortz was only a shadow of what he once had been. But that did not mean Madara didn't have other tricks. The body he would simply store, but, if he wanted to use it in the Impure World Reincarnation technique, he would need a part of his body from his prime if he wanted a powerful Vilgefortz as an Edo Tensei. Fortunately, he already had it.
It was a good thing he had been lucky enough to speak with Lydia van Bredevoort, before attempting to assassinate Vilgefortz in Sodden. At the time, he had collected blood and strands of the mage's hair that she possessed, after controlling him with the Sharingan.
Madara glanced around. The room was full of the sorcerer's objects, but now they were useless.
"I want to do something first." he said, taking ink and brush from another scroll. Then he cut his own palm, mixing his blood into the ink to use it as chakra fuel, since in that world there were no inks from the shinobi world. Madara always used his own blood to create fuuinjutsu.
He quickly began to draw several symbols all around the room, creating clones to help him with the task.
"What is he doing?" Eleanor asked, confused, watching him circle the entire room with strange symbols, different from the elven runes that Vilgefortz and other sorcerers used to employ.
"He must be raising a barrier inside this room." Ciri murmured, watching him.
"Not necessarily." Madara answered from a corner, still drawing. He didn't even turn to them and continued explaining. "His laboratory is already full of barriers. Those sorcerers we defeated were the ones responsible for creating them, and they were quite strong, reinforced. That's why I didn't bother destroying them..." He used the mangekyou sharingan to pass through the barriers with teleportation. "Only the two of us knew about this hideout. Even so, I will keep this new one, but not for defense. I am creating these circles only to detect if someone enters here. That way I will know immediately."
"Good... I'd like you to feel tempted to stay in this place before we marry." Ciri mocked in a joking tone.
Madara only shrugged. "Perhaps we can make this place our honeymoon."
"No way! Are you insane?!" she said angrily, while Eleanor couldn't help but smile and chuckle softly, her mood improving.
But she said nothing more, and Ciri grew worried.
"Seriously... You're not thinking of bringing us here after our wedding, are you? This isn't exactly what I'd call a honeymoon... Not after killing someone in this room, even if he was our sworn enemy." Ciri said in horror.
"You know that's not going to happen." Madara mocked, making Ciri break into a relieved smile.
In any case, he had finished and turned his attention to the stone on the table, the same one Vilgefortz had used earlier to try to escape.
"I want to know where this stone leads. It's another one of his hideouts, but it only activates with chaos energy. Which means..." Madara said, pointing the stone at Ciri, who took it.
"Try to take us there together. I want you to mark the place so we can teleport back, if it's not too far." he said, and Ciri nodded.
She used the chaos energy and the stone began to glow. Immediately, a light enveloped the three of them. In the next moment, they had vanished. When vision returned, the entire setting had changed: they were in another place, seemingly another underground, and as they imagined, another mage's laboratory.
"We're very far, very far from Skellige..." Ciri immediately noticed, feeling the bond with Geralt like a father-daughter link due to the law of surprise. It was similar to the bond she had with Madara due to the system, but less intense.
"So we're on the Continent...?" Madara asked and Ciri nodded.
"Let me see where." Madara said, creating four clones that spread through the laboratory's tunnels. It took about ten minutes before they began relaying exploration reports.
"We're in one of the mountains that separate Kaedwen and Redania. Vilgefortz set up a laboratory here, which is no surprise. Almost every sorcerer has their hideouts hidden in mountains or undergrounds scattered around the world." Madara said, analyzing the place.
"And now? What should we do? I can't teleport that far..." Ciri said, while Madara remained thoughtful.
He could use his Mangekyō to reverse time and send them back to Skellige, but he wanted to avoid resorting to the eye as much as possible. Even though he was healthier since awakening the Mokuton, its use still drained him little by little.
"We'll fly back." Madara said, standing up. At hearing this, Ciri widened her eyes in surprise.
"Fly? There's no way we can fly that far!" she replied, worried.
"Don't worry. We won't use another for that." Madara said with a smile, while he began the same procedure he had done in the previous laboratory, circling the place with his fuuinjutsu. In moments, everything was ready.
He asked the girls to follow him outside, where they found the cave's exit, about three thousand meters high.
"How are we going to get out of here?" Eleanor couldn't help but ask, with concern.
"I won't be able to summon what I want here. Let's go down." he said immediately, leaping off the mountain. At the same time, he cut his hand and performed the summoning jutsu. With an explosion, Totó appeared with a cry, returning to the entrance where the others were. Madara asked Ciri and Eleanor to mount the glyph once more, while he began descending from the sky, moving down the mountain.
It was nearly midnight by then and Totó lowered close to the ground while flying. There were some villages in the region, but no one noticed the great wolf soaring through the night sky. They continued until they found a larger space, an open pasture. There, Madara ordered Totó to stay, since a journey to Skellige would be far too exhausting. And he wanted to arrive there still that night.
Madara stepped away from them, using the same cut as before, and began making several seals. He struck the ground and created the summoning Fuuinjutsu circle. In the next moment, a much greater explosion arose. From the circle, a gigantic creature with green scales emerged.
"Hey, what's going on?!" the creature's deep voice echoed.
"It's me. I just summoned you." Madara spoke calmly, reappearing atop the head of a green dragon.
"You... again?!" the dragon was startled. He remembered well: Madara had forced his companion to sign a contract with his own blood. He didn't know how that allowed him to be summoned, and was still trying to convince his partner to return, while the other dragon no longer responded to his calls.
Now, however, he stood once again before the Uchiha, with no escape.
"You signed the summoning contract with me, remember? Now you're a creature I can call upon when I need." Madara said coldly, while the dragon stared at him in horror, unable to imagine that such a simple paper had this binding power. He would be condemned to the first human he had ever met in his life—and the one he hated most as well.
"What...?! Why...?!" the dragon roared, incredulous.
"Stop complaining. I want you to take us to Skellige, me and my companions." Madara ordered firmly.
The dragon seemed about to refuse, but Madara gave him no time. "If you try anything or disobey, I'll do the same as I did with that other gray dragon." he threatened fiercely.
Terrified, the dragon swallowed hard.
"Just take us. It'll be a long journey, but we'll arrive in a few hours." Madara finished, with a tone that allowed no discussion.
With no choice, the dragon bowed to the command. Eleanor watched in silence, still suspicious, while Ciri seemed excited despite everything. They mounted the creature's back behind Madara.
With a powerful beat of its wings, the dragon took flight, cutting across the night sky. The stars dotted the firmament, and soon they turned westward across the continent, toward Skellige.
