Chapter 272 - Chapter 272 - Some Concerns About a Future Child.

[Chapter Size: 2000 Words.]

Third Person POV

Skellige.

...

...

A magical explosion appeared outside the castle, drawing the guards' attention that morning, who stared at the light with dazed eyes. The magic dissolved, revealing Madara and Ciri with the foal held tightly in her lap by her hands.

"Oh, Lord Madara and Princess Cirilla!" the guards greeted them as soon as they saw them.

"Hello, boys. We're back." said Madara in a calm tone.

"It's good to have you back, my lord. And congratulations on the wedding." said one of the men, while Madara only nodded, with Ciri following him inside as soon as Madara began to move. Soon after, the guards opened the castle doors for the couple.

They found Bran in one of the corridors, walking with his son. "Ah, you have returned!" he said, displaying a smile.

"Is everyone there, Bran?" asked Ciri, still holding the animal in her lap.

"The king of Sodden and most of the nobles have already left, but there are still some in the castle. Your friends are all here too."

"Mousesack?" asked Madara.

"Ah, he's in his laboratory, but I'm sure he can attend to you now. If you'll excuse me, I have something to take care of." replied Bran, going on his way. Madara only nodded and continued walking with Ciri.

In the hall, they found Dandelion singing and stuffing himself with food once again. Noticing their approach, he asked about Geralt and Yennefer.

"They're in the main hall." he replied, while continuing to hum.

As they advanced there, they found the place almost empty, with only a few people eating and servants working. Geralt and Yennefer were sitting, eating in silence in the middle of the morning.

"Well, well, you've returned!" Yennefer smiled as she noticed them, while Geralt only raised his eyes, remaining serious.

After putting the foal aside on the ground, Ciri approached to hug them both.

"I assume you didn't leave Skellige, correct?" asked Geralt, showing a slight smile.

"Don't worry, we were on the highest mountain peak of Skellige. Madara built a cabin at the top. It was quite fun… and cold sometimes." said Ciri laughing.

"Really? That sounds interesting. Your departure on the day of the wedding was quite bold, I must admit." commented Yennefer from her seat.

"Has anything strange happened since yesterday?" asked Madara, also joining them.

"Just one thing here, another there… There are some troublesome sorceresses wandering around. And a few more people have arrived. One of them you know well." said Yennefer, with an enigmatic smile.

Ciri didn't need the name to be spoken. Her eyes widened when she saw who was passing through the hall doors at that moment and heading to their table, wearing a green dress and neatly arranged red hair.

"Triss!" she said, laughing before running to hug her.

"Oh, my dear little sister." said Triss, squeezing Ciri in her arms.

"Look at you… it hasn't been long since I last saw you and you've already become a married woman!" Triss exclaimed, showing an even bigger smile.

"Where were you? Why didn't you come to my wedding?" complained Ciri, demanding an answer. Triss had helped her a lot in Kaer Morhen with her powers months ago, so she should have received the invitation, which Yennefer assured had been delivered.

"Sorry, little sister." said Triss. "I'm not making excuses, but I had some problems and couldn't attend that day. I arrived last night and learned that the wedding had already happened, and that you would be on your honeymoon. I wanted to see you in your dress… but you look so beautiful! I'm sure you already seem like a very happy woman." said Triss with a certain touch of envy, for Ciri looked radiant in the way she had seen in some women after their weddings.

Ciri had clearly married the man she loved, while some women didn't have that choice, and those who did certainly bore the dreamy expression that Ciri had. Triss envied that luck… to marry someone she loved.

The sorceress's gaze shifted to where Madara stood, watching them alongside Geralt and Yennefer, next to an animal that looked like a white foal but with a horn on its forehead.

"You can say that! Come join my husband and the others." said Ciri, pulling Triss to the table.

"So this must be the unicorn Yennefer mentioned… what a beautiful animal!" said Triss, crouching down. The foal took a few steps back, unsettled by the approach of the strange human.

"Hey, calm down, Eira. She's a friend." said Ciri, stroking the animal, which soon calmed at her soft voice.

Triss managed to touch it and give it a gentle caress, which relaxed the unicorn. Then, she stood and looked at Madara.

"My congratulations on the wedding. Take good care of this girl, understood? She's like my younger sister." said Triss, showing a smile, while Madara only nodded.

Triss turned to Geralt and Yennefer, but it was clear she was unsettled by their relationship. To everyone, it seemed obvious that Triss still loved Geralt, while he remained at Yennefer's side, forming a strange love triangle.

Madara turned to Ciri. "I'll go talk to Mousesack. Do you want to stay?" he asked.

"Alright, go. We'll meet later, my husband." she said before touching her lips to his, pressing them against his, and pulling away with a smile.

"You know where to find me." Ciri added, and Madara only nodded, leaving the place and leaving Ciri with her two friends and her father.

Madara easily found Mousesack's laboratory. He knocked on the door, and a moment later the old man appeared. Despite his bad mood at being disturbed in the middle of his work, as soon as he saw him, he blinked and opened a smile.

"Madara, you're back! How good. Come in." he said, opening the door for Madara to enter.

"How have you been? Still angry about what Yennefer did when she stole the mask?" asked Madara, while the druid locked the laboratory entrance.

"Don't even mention it! Yennefer did something terrible, something that could have destroyed all of us. It was recklessness and arrogance on her part, and I make that very clear every time I see her." said Mousesack, still full of anger over Yennefer having stolen the mask.

"Well, in the end everything worked out, yes. But that doesn't change the fact that she brought great danger… especially after having entered my laboratory uninvited." Mousesack sighed, before turning to Madara. "Anyway… isn't Ciri with you?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.

"She's with Geralt and the others. I came here so we could talk, since you wanted to help me write that book about dragons, correct?" replied Madara.

Mousesack's eyes lit up immediately. How could he forget?

"Well, we can start working in the next few days." Madara said and Mousesack nodded.

"Great, you have very interesting information. We can work now. And I must say… it was fantastic to see that green dragon flying at the end of the ceremony." said Mousesack, pausing before continuing: "If possible, I would like to see him again… with his permission, of course."

"We're not really friends, to tell you the truth." Madara scratched his head about his relationship with the dragon. "So it's not exactly a matter of asking. But I'll summon him later, and you'll be able to talk to him and study him." replied Madara. After all, the dragon had tried to hunt him, and as a result, Madara had imprisoned him in a summoning contract, controlling him easily. The creature had lost all will to fight.

Mousesack only nodded, understanding the situation. Soon, they moved into the laboratory, where the druid picked up a blank book, while Madara projected his memories of the Valley of Dragons, as well as encounters he had with some of them outside the valley. The information given by an ancient dragon, in the deepest mountains, had greatly aided the understanding and classification of the creatures, even within their internal hierarchy—something vital for the work.

Mousesack began writing the first chapters, and after talking with Madara, they continued together in the process: writing drafts, debating content, and planning the introduction to dragon classification.

By the end of the morning, Madara went out to have lunch with the druid. Meanwhile, Ciri was talking with Triss, Yennefer, Geralt, along with King Zoltan and Dandelion, who had joined them. There was no sign of Eleonor, who had left the castle since the day of the ceremony.

None of the sorceresses associated with him were present, except for one who could be—with some goodwill—called a "friend": Triss, who was trustworthy.

King Bran also joined the lunch and, at a certain moment, stood to give a speech about Madara and Ciri, expressing the pride he felt for their union and their marriage.

After the small gathering, Madara returned to Mousesack's laboratory, and even Ciri joined them, wanting to stay by her husband's side. She also ended up participating in the creation of the book, both out of interest in Madara and because of Mousesack's role as a sort of grandfather to her, even if he didn't always show an intellectual side of interest.

"Well, we'll have to work on this in the coming days. It's going to take a while." said Mousesack in the end, as he closed the draft book they had been working on until the end of that day.

"Let me ask you something, Mousesack… I wanted to talk about the future child of me and Ciri." said Madara suddenly as they were organizing everything to leave, making Ciri widen her eyes in surprise.

"Ah… so that's what this is about. I already imagined one of you would come to me at some point." replied Mousesack, as if he had foreseen the situation. "You two have different energies. It's natural to be concerned."

"Is it possible that our child could be harmed, or even Ciri?" asked Madara. He couldn't set aside the doubt about what would happen with a child conceived by him, being able to manipulate chakra, and Ciri with chaos energy, powerful enough to distort time and space.

He didn't know what kind of effect the child could have in her womb, nor how the chakra would affect her body as well, since the child, even as a fetus, would be connected to her. Ciri was also paying full attention, for this directly affected her life when she eventually carried their child.

"I don't think there will be complications with the physical part, you are both human…" said Mousesack. "When I tested your blood, there was no reaction with the chaos energy… but it exploded in the spiritual field." he explained, recalling his old research with Madara's blood in Cintra, more than twelve years ago.

"However, I think Ciri may be a little affected if the child is born with strong traits. The umbilical cord will pass energy to her. Even if it is little, she may absorb some of your energy, the chakra. We will have to closely observe how her body reacts to the new energy. That's why I want to see her when she becomes pregnant…" Mousesack concluded, while Madara remained thoughtful and, for a moment, concerned.

"I don't know what may happen…" said Madara, turning to a worried Ciri beside him, staring into her eyes. "But we will go through this together. Any child that comes from us will not only be strong and healthy… it will be extraordinary." he affirmed, looking into Ciri's eyes.

She, who had been quite worried, couldn't help but open a calmer smile, liking her husband's confidence, and nodded.

"Of course. I don't doubt anything, Madara." she said in the end.
