Chapter 332 - Chapter 332 - Preparing for the Meeting of the Northern Kings 02.

[Chapter Size: 2100 Words.]

Third Person POV

Ellander.

...

...

The following days were quickly occupied for many across all the northern kingdoms, with Tissaia, Triss, and even Yennefer contacting every court and sorceresses allied to kings and queens to properly organize the next meeting among the kings.

The place was once again chosen to be Loc Muinne, in the ancient abandoned elven city, just like the first meeting when they had gathered to deal with the issues following the end of the war and the powers Madara had demonstrated, frightening everyone at the time.

Now, the reason was a little different, but it still involved Madara himself, in search of answers about what happened on the night of the dragon attack.

Ciri now had her disguise ready. When using the brooch, a powerful illusion was created that she had a flat stomach. Not even Tissaia, who performed tests to try to break the illusion's enchantment, managed to do so.

This was due to the strength of the Elder Blood running through Ciri's veins, since she was using that power to activate the rune magic within the brooch. Not even the greatest mage on the continent could deal with the Elder Blood; its potential was immense.

Vesemir had stayed in Kaer Morhen, while he arranged things now that the castle had been partially repaired. Geralt, however, returned to the temple with Madara. They began preparing for the meeting between the kings from then on.

"I still think this is a terrible idea", Geralt did not fail to mutter the night before the meeting, in a cautious tone, while Yennefer raised an eyebrow at him.

"There is nothing to be done. She is no longer a child, Geralt. Besides, she is with Madara and possesses the royal blood of Cintra as the legitimate heir to the throne."

"But what if they try something against them?", Geralt insisted, while they drank alone in some corner of the temple.

"Did you hear what I said? Madara is with her. You saw him defeat thousands of monsters with ease, do impossible things that should be impossible to see anyone do. Even things that, in a single lifetime, we would never even be able to imagine happening. Madara can do all that. You saw him fighting monsters, dragons, and demons over these years. You were not at the war, but I saw what he did. That is why I guarantee there is nothing they can offer while she is by Madara's side", Yennefer said.

Geralt had to accept it, although he remained quite resistant about it. Ciri was no longer his little girl. Yennefer found it amusing that he still thought of her that way.

"You know that Ciri is more powerful than you, don't you?", Yennefer added, making the witcher feel a blow to his ego.

"Do not say it as if it were easy", he said. Yennefer began to laugh.

"Look at you, a grumpy old man. Let me tell you something, Mr. Witcher: if you truly fought seriously, and not the way you have been training in the courtyard these past few days when she asks to train with you, the only reason you are not humiliated is because she goes easy on you. But she learned Madara's fighting style, the one that moves at high speed... If she truly wanted to fight, you would not last a single second. Not to mention the powers she possesses."

Geralt said nothing.

"Come on, Geralt, do not be so upset. Can't you see that our little girl has grown up, is becoming strong, and can take care of herself? She even threw it in my face these days that she was not a little girl anymore. Instead, she said that now she is a wife, a mother, and a queen. She is growing up too fast, and perhaps we can no longer keep up with her", Yennefer said, in a melancholic tone.

Geralt remained silent, but his eyes made it clear that perhaps he was thinking the same thing.

"Another strange thing... have you also been noticing a different behavior from Triss?", Geralt spoke carefully, and Yennefer ended up opening a slight smile.

"You mean when Triss, my friend, begins to lean her body and move it unconsciously whenever a certain man is among us", she said in an amused tone.

"Do you think that..." Geralt began cautiously.

Yennefer nodded. "Yes."

"But..." Geralt tried to interrupt.

Yennefer placed her finger over his lips. "Do not say anything more. You do not need to. You cannot control a girl's heart when she falls in love. And, honestly, I am a little surprised. For a moment over a year ago, I thought she would be interested in you. But, given the events and who Madara is, we should not be surprised after everything. Did you know that he healed her skin, which had been scarred since the war, when you pulled her out of that chaos?", Yennefer said.

"But this involves Ciri..." Geralt tried to argue.

"Geralt, I know what you are thinking, but I believe we should not get involved. Madara does not seem romantically interested in Triss the way he acts with Ciri, but we also cannot control Triss's heart. Ciri must have already noticed as well, and she is not a child. She must know how to deal with it. Now, what will happen with all this? Well, that is between them. We should not interfere, not unless the situation turns ugly..." Yennefer made a small pause. "Besides, I would prefer Triss a thousand times over an arrogant Coral."

Geralt heard that and nodded in silence, while they continued talking.

The next day, a week having passed since the meeting began to be organized, with Madara and Ciri's confirmation... Tissaia, Yennefer, and Triss would be accompanying them to the meeting.

'You need to make a choice... Between two destinies...' The ancient voice interrupted Ciri's thoughts when Madara entered the room where she was getting ready, carrying a box.

Ciri was being helped by the temple priestesses who knew her, finishing arranging her hair. Her belly was visible; she did not bother to hide her pregnancy there yet. Her hair was curled into braids, as a medieval princess or queen should wear it. She wore a white dress with the symbol of Cintra, along with a cloak she would put on later.

Ciri was emotional. The colors of Cintra were something she used to hate, since her grandmother always demanded that she wear them at balls and social gatherings as the princess of the kingdom.

This time, she would wear them with pride, the blue with three lions embroidered in yellow. She would represent Cintra for the first time among all the kingdoms of the North.

She looked at Madara, a little surprised, as he approached with her box.

"I came to bring something you will certainly need." Madara was not wearing the Blue and Yellow colors of Cintra like she was; he hated those colors, preferring black.

He even had his own clothes. Although noble, they were different from what the monarchy usually wore there, with his kimono and the Uchiha symbol on his back.

"Madara, what are you doing here? I am not finished yet", she said, putting on her earrings and looking at him through the mirror, while the girls stepped a little away from Ciri to let them talk.

"I wanted you to take something first, to use today..." That certainly caught Ciri's interest. "...This was given by your grandmother on the day she died. She had asked me to give it to you when you were ready to wear it. And I believe there is no better moment", he said, opening the box in front of Ciri.

Her eyes widened.

"It is my grandmother's crown!", she exclaimed as she saw the piece made with precious stones that Calanthe always used to wear while seated on the throne, debating court matters and receiving the demands of the people of Cintra.

"Take it. It is yours now", Madara said.

Ciri took the crown carefully, examining it closely. She placed it on her head and turned to the mirror, adjusting it perfectly before opening a smile.

"Do I look like her, Madara?", she said emotionally. "Do I look like my grandmother?"

"You look like a queen. The queen of Cintra. And I must say... you are more beautiful than Calanthe", he said.

She looked at him mockingly and began to laugh. "Do not be so insensitive. My grandmother was beautiful", she said, turning back to the mirror while adjusting the crown.

"I prefer the granddaughter", he teased.

"Even if she is a little swollen because of the pregnancy?", she challenged him.

"In my opinion, she is still beautiful", Madara said, leaning against her back.

Ciri gave another small laugh before stopping and looking at the other women in the room, who were in complete silence to the point that Ciri had forgotten about them, though she could see they were somewhat embarrassed by that kind of conversation.

"We should stop this now. Thank you for the crown. Now, you can wait for me outside. I am sure Tissaia will deliver a crown for you."

Madara snorted. "If you think I am going to wear something like that, forget it. I am more than fine this way. I do not need a crown on my head for people to recognize me."

He turned his back and began to leave. "Madara", she called him suddenly.

He turned to her. Ciri took a step in his direction. She seemed hesitant for a moment, but then shook her head.

"Forget it. It was just a foolish thought. Wait for me with the others, I am almost done, husband", she said with a smile returning to her lips.

Madara kept his gaze on her for another second, studying her, before nodding and leaving, closing the door.

Ciri turned back to the mirror while the assistants resumed adjusting her hair. Even so, she could not stop staring at her own image reflected in those green eyes.

"That was just a dream...", she murmured softly.

Madara went to where everyone was gathered. Tissaia, Triss, Yennefer, and even Geralt, wearing a doublet and equipping a sword, were there. They would all depart together.

All the kings would have their guards: famous knights and great warriors of the North would be present protecting their monarchs. Sorcerers from each of the courts would also be among them.

Even spies — especially those from the South — had probably infiltrated.

That would be the greatest event among kings since the meeting during the war, when they remained gathered seeking information about Madara and Ciri.

"Tell me something, Tissaia", Madara turned his attention to the rectoress.

She nodded for him to continue.

"I implanted a false memory in Yennefer many years ago, which somewhat diverted the kings' attention about whether we were on the continent or not. And in the end, we were here two or three years ago. Is there any chance they might try to retaliate against Yennefer for the false information?", he asked.

Yennefer raised her gaze upon hearing that. No king would like to know he had been deceived.

"If we think about it, they probably felt resentful. But I doubt they can do anything. After all, I even showed them the vision of the memories so they could see what you had placed in her mind. And, given the recent revelation of the relationship you have, with her being godmother at your wedding to the heir of Cintra, I doubt they would attempt to act against it", Tissaia said what she believed.

Madara nodded.

"Well, in any case, the kings are already arriving at Loc Muinne. We should go as soon as Ciri is ready", he said.

The door opened at that moment, and Ciri stepped out perfectly arranged. Her belly was no longer voluminous; she had activated the illusion. She was stunning, representing the banner of Cintra, wearing Calanthe's necklace and crown.

Madara extended his arm to her, and Ciri took it, linking her arm with his.

"Well, shall we go?", Madara asked calmly.

Everyone nodded, as Tissaia began to create a portal.

The most uncomfortable one there was Geralt, but he had no choice. Madara could not use his own teleportation, which was much smoother, because he wanted to preserve chakra and also did not want to reveal that ability to those who did not yet know it.

And so, they moved forward, crossing the portal toward Loc Muinne, for the meeting of the kings.
