Chapter 333 - Chapter 333 - Preparing for the Meeting of the Northern Kings 03.

[Chapter Size: 2400 Words.]

Third Person POV

Loc Muinne.

...

...

The wind swept through the ruins of Loc Muinne that morning, which was no surprise, given the city's location between the Red Mountains on the eastern side of the Continent.

The largest structure in the city, a great elven hall, had last been used at the meeting between the kings to discuss the war that took place at Sodden Hill. And there, once again, this meeting of today would be held.

The portal coming from the middle of Temeria finally appeared, as Tissaia, Yennefer, Triss, Geralt, Ciri, and Madara emerged one by one, passing through the wall of magical energy in space.

Men waited outside — sorcerers, important soldiers, and even other nobles trusted by the kings. All awaited the arrival of the newcomers.

Their presence immediately sparked a reaction worth noting. All eyes turned toward the group, but quickly focused on the last couple. Unlike Ciri, who wore no crown, no one could doubt her status as she remained at his side, wrapped in his arms.

Geralt breathed with some difficulty, trying to recover immediately.

"Do you want to rest a bit before going in?" Yennefer asked, concerned.

He shook his head. "No. Let's continue. Let's finish this," he said, still affected by the journey through the portals.

One of the sorceresses waiting at the entrance immediately approached them to greet them.

"Welcome. I see that the representatives of Cintra have already arrived. And Lady Tissaia, I did not expect you to take a side in this meeting..." she said, nodding.

"Lady Margarita Laux-Antille..." Tissaia greeted her colleague. "But I am only escorting them, after all, the kings asked me to do so..." she said diplomatically.

The sight of the most powerful mage on the Continent accompanying the queen and king of Cintra made people whisper. Guards and knights organized for the security of their kings cast hard looks.

Madara could feel the warriors' eyes on him, assessing him with caution — and even fear. If there were any arrogant looks, they were few among them. They might have forgotten the war that happened years ago, but what had occurred a week ago was still fresh in their memories.

Dragons. Destruction. Fire. Blue giants. And the dragons themselves being slaughtered.

There stood a man beside his wife who, despite his exotic appearance, might seem ordinary. But everyone already knew what he was capable of. His hardened gaze and natural posture already said a great deal. No man alive there could claim he would withstand him for more than a few seconds. Only fools failed to see that — but that did not matter to Madara Uchiha, they were merely ants in the end.

"As you must know, Margarita, I am receiving the representatives of Cintra," Tissaia said, as Margarita nodded at the end and looked toward the other sorceresses. "I heard that the King of Temeria asked you to accompany him at this meeting, but you refused, Triss."

"That is true. However, I am no longer part of the Temerian court. Although I served the king and do not dislike him, my loyalties are now with others," Triss replied calmly.

Margarita exchanged a glance with Yennefer, without saying much, before turning her attention to the couple behind the group.

"And you are the future queen of Cintra, the heir to the throne. I see you already consider yourself as such," she said, analyzing the crown.

"Is there a problem with that? I carry the blood of the Fionas. My grandmother ruled Cintra. It may have been taken by the Nilfgaardian Empire, but Cintra did not die, and I will reclaim everything that belongs to my family," Ciri said firmly.

The woman was surprised by the girl in front of her speaking that way. Then she let out a smile. "I see there is still a Lioness of Cintra in you. Your grandmother used to be like that."

With those words, she turned her attention to Madara, who stood beside her. "And you… they say you are the most powerful man on the entire Continent. They say you have the power of a god."

"People say many things," Madara replied.

"Yes, they say many things about everything and everyone. But not everything is mere talk. You instill fear in the most powerful men of the Continent. And you are still so young… the only one in this world with that kind of strength. There are many people wary of your power. That is why this meeting is being held today. They want to ask questions. They want to know what you plan for the Northern Kingdoms. Once, these same men wanted to hunt you down before you became a real threat. But I see that has already come to pass… and now they may fear facing you."

"You do not serve the kings. That is not something someone like you should be saying," Madara said, narrowing his eyes, though his tone remained indifferent.

"That is true. But the entire Continent is uncertain about its own future. In the south, Nilfgaard is preparing for war. In the North, dragons have attacked. An organization called Akatsuki has emerged. And then there is you… although the last two events are, more than obviously, related," she said in an almost accusatory tone.

"Watch your words," Yennefer cut in, clicking her tongue. "You speak as though you stand before someone who could not destroy you."

"Oh, Yennefer... You are here…" she began mockingly. "You have certainly stirred much envy among many sorceresses… so close to such powerful people... You have certainly secured your own future..." she said, clearly letting something more than simple observation show. There were many other sorceresses on the Continent who wished to be in Yennefer's place.

"Watch what you say," Yennefer clenched her teeth at the insinuation.

"Oh, please, Yennefer. You are like us... and we all know our own ambitions and what we are capable of. Any sorceress could spread her legs as well for—"

She did not even manage to finish. A hand grabbed her by the collar, making her choke instantly as she was lifted off the ground.

"You had better watch what you say, sorceress. I do not know you, but I certainly will not let you mock my mother — much less insinuate that she is sleeping with my husband."

The voice was firm. It did not belong to a sorceress. Nor to Geralt. Nor even to Madara.

The one holding her was the very same person she had just praised for being more than a little girl.

Ciri had moved before anyone could react — except Madara, who merely watched, seeing her reappear in front of the sorceress.

Everyone involved there looked on in surprise. Even the guards and nobles at the entrance were stunned. That reception was supposed to be formal, but that turn of events was not expected, as Ciri continued holding the sorceress by the neck and lifted her with a strength a girl like her should not have.

"Princess Ciri, do not kill her," Tissaia said, intervening, while Yennefer watched her former companion choking, unable to utter even a single spell with her throat pressed by the hand of none other than a girl.

The sorceress realized she was dealing with someone who was not naive. Yennefer could not help but laugh at that.

"Hahahaha! I would expect you to insult me. That was already expected of you. But you had to overdo it..." She paused.

"You'd better stop right there," Yennefer said, quite satisfied with what was happening. "My daughter is someone you cannot handle." That would shut the sorceress up once and for all.

It also showed everyone there that Ciri was not a naive princess. No. She was already as powerful as Tissaia in magic, despite having far fewer spells, but she was so young. And she could certainly defeat her in a duel, because her specialty was not only magic, but combat — with strength and speed far beyond what even a witcher could produce.

If there was anyone above her, it was only Madara himself.

The sorceress felt her own neck about to break as Ciri tightened her grip, staring at her with shining eyes. Fear finally took over her gaze.

Margarita panicked.

"Ciri, let her go," Madara said, and she looked at Madara.

Ciri nodded and opened her hand. The woman barely touched the ground before she stumbled and fell, looking dazed. The commotion had already drawn everyone's attention, and they did not know how to react.

"Next time, do not insult me. Do not insult my mother. Do not insult my husband. And do not insult my friends," Ciri said, before turning to Tissaia. "Shall we go, Rector of Aretuza?"

Tissaia nodded, still serious.

They began to enter the hall, leaving the sorceress behind.

A nobleman approached them, since the one responsible for the reception was still on the ground, trying to catch her breath. He looked quite nervous, afraid of saying something wrong.

"May I lead you inside?" the man said.

Tissaia nodded, and he began to guide them. The place was crowded with guards and other sorcerers, all watching the group with curiosity and multiple expressions along the corridors.

Madara followed in silence, with Ciri at his side, keeping his eyes only forward.

"Today we're going to show all the kings that we are not weak," Ciri said.

Madara nodded. "Yes. It's time to finally face the courts. Use all the information I gave you and analyze the situation of every king and queen we'll meet ahead of us," he said.

Madara had clones in every court of the Northern kingdoms. Obviously, he gathered information not only from documents or the kings' speeches with important figures, but also analyzed each personality, their weaknesses, who had lovers, those who had bastard children, what they feared, and what they were addicted to. Madara had all of this to the point that he could use each secret and control them without even needing to use the Sharingan.

He had passed everything on to Ciri, so she could use it at that meeting. That would be the weapon and the advantage they would take from the kings. While they still trembled before his power, they underestimated the influence he could exert over them.

A large door stood ahead, guarded by sorcerers, guards, and even some well-known knights.

"Tissaia, you finally appeared. And I see you are with the representatives of Cintra," approached one of the most respected sorcerers on the Continent, someone of such high status that even Tissaia had to show him respect.

He raised an eyebrow, clearly surprised to see them together, which meant a great deal. But Tissaia did not seem to care about the interpretations being made.

"This is Hen Gedymdeith. He is highly regarded among the sorcerers and the northern courts," Tissaia introduced, as the sorceresses and Geralt greeted him.

But the mage turned to the couple behind Yennefer, Triss, and Geralt. "You must be the heir to the throne of Cintra. And you… the famous Madara. I fought by your side in the Second War of Sodden, and you certainly know how to draw attention," he murmured cautiously, studying Madara, who merely shrugged.

"At any rate, the King of Sodden asked me to greet you," Hen Gedymdeith continued.

It was no surprise that he was the one doing so. Among all the kings and queens, Thorne of Sodden was the one who had the best relationship with Madara.

"He asked that you join him among the kings and queens who are already waiting," he added.

"Very well. You may show us the way," Madara replied.

The man nodded, turned around, and entered the hall, arranging the entrance while everyone ahead observed the group. The great door finally opened, revealing the vast chamber.

"I will not join you. I will remain among the other sorcerers," Triss said, since each king would have only two guards.

Yennefer and Geralt would stand behind Madara as his bodyguards.

"I will go to the center. I shall enter first, as I must maintain neutrality among the kings," Tissaia said.

She entered alone. "The first to arrive: Tissaia de Vries, Rector of Aretuza and one of the highest-ranking mages in the North," Hen Gedymdeith himself announced as he opened the door for Tissaia.

After that, he asked Madara Uchiha and Ciri to step forward. The two advanced ahead of Geralt and Yennefer.

"And now we have the heir to the throne of Cintra, granddaughter of the late Queen Calanthe: Cirilla Fiona… and her husband, Madara Uchiha. One of the former Dukes of Cintra."

The mention of the latter's name seemed to make the entire hall tremble as Madara stepped inside.

They found an oval hall with an enormous circular bench. Each position bore the banner of a kingdom, occupied by a king and queen wearing crowns, with two guards behind them. All eyes were fixed on the door, watching Madara and Ciri enter.

They were much younger than most of the kings and queens present, but that did not stop many from trembling — especially those seeing Madara Uchiha for the first time.

"Before we proceed and you take your podium, we require you to sign a non-aggression treaty, so that all may discuss the affairs of the Continent," Hen Gedymdeith said.

Tissaia was already positioned at the center of the chamber, speaking with other sorcerers and organizers of the gathering.

Ciri and Madara walked to the center, where a book lay already signed by all the kings — an agreement that none could attack or kill another during the meeting. Obviously, it was directed straight at Madara.

He was the most dangerous man on the Continent. He could kill everyone there if he wished. The requirement was presented as something general, but it was clearly aimed at him.

Madara shrugged. Even knowing this, he did not care. He stepped to the book beside Ciri and signed as the representative of Cintra.

None of the kings said a word. They only watched Madara and Ciri as they were led to the podium beside that of Sodden and another kingdom.

The King of Sodden, beside his queen, nodded to Madara and Ciri, who returned the gesture before finally positioning themselves beneath the blue banner with three lions — the banner of Cintra.

"Very well, let us wait for the last to arrive so that we may finally begin," Hen Gedymdeith announced as the one in charge.

Everyone sat down. And Madara and Ciri took their seats beneath the banner of Cintra.
