[Chapter Size: 2200 Words.]
Third Person POV
Loc Muinne.
...
...
For a moment, no one said anything.
"The last of your... clan?" The queen of Lyria and Rivia, Meve, tilted her head, reflecting on the very question she had asked.
"I will not speak further about the Uchihas. It is all you need to understand, that there was a special clan 300 years ago, but it was extinguished by the same forces that fought alongside me during the Battle of Sodden. They believed the clan was destroyed, but one bloodline survived. And I am the last of them, that is why they hunted me on that occasion."
Madara simply declared that. He did not know exactly what had happened from then until now, nor how his parents had somehow come to the future, remembering very clearly the conversation with the goddess Melitele at the Temple of Melitele, months ago. And Ciri involved in it.
"In any case, I will not answer anything more than that about the clan," Madara insisted on making that clear. He was not obligated to explain anything to anyone there.
Meanwhile, the kings looked at one another. Some exchanged glances, others spoke briefly with their advisors, especially the mages who were seated further below, maintaining a neutral posture while whispering among themselves.
"Uchiha clan? I have never seen any record of it!" That was the question they were all asking, especially the scholars and sorcerers.
'You certainly frightened them now,' Madara heard Ciri say in his mind.
'Let them be frightened. I am only giving common sense. I will not reveal any more secrets of my clan, but I highly doubt the questions will cease.' He replied to Ciri.
Even so, Madara turned to the king of Temeria and answered the earlier question: "As I said before, I am human. I simply possess a special bloodline and an energy different from the magic you use, different from the energy of Chaos."
Madara answered naturally. It was no secret to anyone that he possessed abilities that, in their eyes, seemed magical and strange, and that he did not use the energy of Chaos like the others. There was no reason to hide that.
He had something that no sorcerer in this world has, with the exception of Ciri, he has an internal source of power, without needing to manipulate the energy of Chaos, sorcerers did have magic, but they needed to draw the energy of Chaos, unlike Madara and Ciri, who had internal energy in abundance. Although Ciri could draw upon Chaos and manipulate it.
"But your eyes... I saw you controlling people, trying to kill me," the King of Brugge said cautiously. That statement certainly frightened the other monarchs even more.
"You sent several sorcerers with Tissaia at that time, more than twenty of them to try to capture Ciri after we left Cintra. I was willing to kill you and Tissaia on that occasion. You gathered sorcerers as soon as you discovered our presence in the forest, trying to hunt us like animals," Madara said without any remorse.
Even Tissaia closed her eyes upon hearing that, before opening them again. She could not blame him. Indeed, they had decided to capture Ciri, even by force. It was not without reason that sending so many sorcerers was not a simple decision.
Given what they had heard about the girl in Cintra, they knew they might encounter resistance from Madara, having heard that he killed more than 2,000 Nilfgaardian soldiers at the time, which they thought was absurd, but they were completely wrong, because he acted by destroying Nilfgaard's entire army some time later.
That was why they sent so many. But in the end, they only underestimated his power. He massacred almost all of them, leaving only a few alive — among them, one whom he placed under a genjutsu and tried to use to assassinate the king.
The King of Brugge pressed his lips together. Madara was being arrogant, but what could they do?
No other king said anything. They simply watched him.
"I just want to understand one thing." The king of Kovir raised his hand. "You deceived us a few years ago. You implanted a false memory in the sorceress behind you, as I understand it. You showed that you were leaving for another continent where those other people lived and, at the same time, displayed the appearance of Princess Ciri with a scar on her face, which seems not to have been true, only to throw us off your trail."
"But that did not stop you from searching for us across the continent, did it?", Madara replied calmly.
"Yes, we contacted several courts over the past years, even to try to gather more information about you. You cannot blame us for that. You demonstrated a power that destroyed an entire army. Everyone here was and still is concerned about someone with such power, that no one understands how it works, not even the sorcerers," the king of Kovir declared.
"In the same way that you are saying you could not remain idle in the face of someone so powerful, I also could not simply leave clues for you to search for me, right?", Madara retorted. "You would hunt us, even if you were like flies. But flies are irritating."
He made a brief pause.
An elder vampire once said something similar in the game. He could kill thousands of humans easily, but they would not stop coming. It would only be irritating, surrounding his cave, never leaving him in peace, no matter how powerful he was.
"But I wonder... do you not hold any recent resentment over the war lost to Nilfgaard, King of Kovir?", Madara asked openly.
"What do you mean by that?", the king narrowed his eyes.
"Well, let us see. Did you perhaps have any investment in Nilfgaard? After all, you are far from them, in the extreme north. You were much safer from a Nilfgaardian attack and had a good chance to profit from it. Do you deny it?", Madara questioned.
The kings looked at one another before turning their attention back to Esterad Thyssen, the king of Kovir, who slammed his hand on the table.
"I deny it! That is absurd! Why would I be selling out the North?"
"Obviously, for profit," Madara shot back. "In any case, I have some interesting papers here. Documents that I myself took from the capital of Nilfgaard. They bear your signature negotiating amounts with the emperor."
'Is that true?!' Ciri was indignant.
"That bastard did what?!" King Bran shouted like a savage.
That caused several there to grow tense.
Madara looked toward the Sodden podium beside him and tossed the paper, which slid smoothly toward it. Thorne picked it up and began to read. His expression quickly changed.
He lowered the document slowly and stared at the king of Kovir. "You son of a bitch!", Thorne shouted, losing his composure. "No wonder more than a hundred thousand Nilfgaardian soldiers were all armed with new black armor. This man sold us out!", he exclaimed angrily.
"Let me see that paper!", the king of Temeria shouted.
Thorne nodded, and one of the men from Temeria stepped forward, took the document, and carried it to the king. Meve also asked to see a copy, while the king of Temeria began cursing the king of Kovir.
"You bastard! Thinking about profit even in the North's misfortune? Did you not think that, if Nilfgaard had won, they might even dominate Kovir itself, you fool?", Queen Meve snarled.
The king of Kovir replaced his indignant look with a more solemn expression. He was angry and nervous, but tried not to show it. "It is trade. It is profit," he said coldly.
"You have just destroyed your trust in the North. Everyone has heard you as a traitor now, king of Kovir," Madara mocked.
"We can discuss this later. There are still more urgent matters to deal with here. As much as I would like to curse my neighbor," said the king of Redania, with a tone of disappointment as he looked toward the ruler to the north.
"Well, I want to talk about the dragons. I want to understand why the dragons attacked my capital," the king of Kovir himself took the initiative to speak, trying to shift the focus.
"No. I first want to talk about a certain mage who was declared dead, then appeared and was declared dead again. I heard that you killed Vilgefortz even before the war truly began. Is that true?", King Vizimir asked cautiously.
Vilgefortz was known throughout the continent. Cunning, well connected with the kingdoms, he acted diplomatically. He was respected and feared for his powers, being in the same category as Tissaia, bearing the title of great mage.
"I tried to kill him, but I did not succeed at that moment, I only left him badly injured. And I did so for two reasons," Madara replied, pausing.
"First, he was hunting Ciri for experiments. And I would even like the spy, one of Redania's advisors, to speak about this. After all, I heard that you found one of Vilgefortz's hideouts."
He looked directly at Redania's banner. King Vizimir seemed surprised, turning toward his advisors, while Dijkstra stepped forward.
"That is true. May I speak, my king?", Dijkstra said calmly.
Vizimir nodded.
Dijkstra turned to Madara and then to everyone else. "It is true. We found one of Vilgefortz's laboratories. And I warn you now: what I saw there was not pleasant. There were several skeletons of young girls, experimental machines... He was doing something to them, and it was nothing good. They were killed while being tortured... There were at least fifteen young girls in that laboratory. They were already decomposing when I found them. They could only be identified by their bone structure and remnants of hair," he said.
The kings looked at one another.
"Killing young girls... why?", someone asked.
"Magic flourishes more easily in girls," Madara replied. "If he was trying to obtain or manipulate magical abilities from sorceresses..." Vilgefortz knew the secret and knew exactly what Ciri was capable of becoming. He wanted the power of the Elder Blood.
"But you said you did not kill him on that occasion," one of the kings observed. "Vilgefortz reappeared on the continent more than a year and a half ago, contacting some kingdoms, even while weakened," said one of the sorcerers.
"Yes. I found him in Skellige almost a year ago. He was creating a conspiracy of sorcerers seeking revenge for what I did. So we hunted him down and eliminated him once and for all," Madara replied.
"I heard that several sorcerers died almost a year ago. So that must have been it," said the king of Kaedwen, trying to maintain neutrality, although there was fear in his voice. He himself had maintained contact with Vilgefortz through his court sorcerer, who had also been killed by Madara.
"Do you have proof that Vilgefortz was doing this?", Meve asked.
Madara nodded. With a small burst of smoke, some papers appeared in his hand. He handed them again to Thorne, who read them, frowning, and showed them to his sorcerer.
"The second reason is also in these pages." Madara declared.
"This is...", Thorne murmured, clearly shocked.
"I am growing more and more irritated with this meeting," said one of the kings. "First we discover that idiot financed Nilfgaard to destroy the Northern kingdoms, and now we learn that we had contact with a bastard like Vilgefortz. Another traitor of the North!"
The tension in the room increased with each revelation.
Madara remained silent, merely watching as the documents circulated among the kings and sorcerers.
Even Tissaia examined them, frowning. "With this, we have proof not only that Vilgefortz was committing atrocities, but also that he was in contact with Nilfgaard the entire time," she snarled.
In the documents, there was also a dossier containing messages exchanged between Emperor Emhyr and Vilgefortz, discussing the best positions to attack the Northern kingdoms.
"It is possible to understand now his solutions from some time ago... He wanted us to lose..." Tissaia said with visible disappointment in her voice.
"Well, I suppose we will not insist too much on this for now... I would like to hear about other matters...", said the king of Redania, before turning his attention back to Madara. "But I would like to ask you something directly. Something that has already been mentioned. We want to know about the organization called Akatsuki. What is its objective? And why did you intervene in Kaedwen and also in the dragon attack?"
Madara looked at him, then let his gaze pass over all the kings before answering.
"Akatsuki is an organization that I founded to prevent the continent from plunging into chaos. We will not accept a war between humans and non-humans above all. If either side is being massacred, we will intervene and destroy the opposing side."
He made a brief pause before continuing:
"That is what we did in Kaedwen. First, we destroyed the humans who were attacking non-human villages in a cruel manner. Then we massacred the non-humans when they did the same against a city where humans were at a disadvantage. We have no side. But we will always help the weaker side when it is being unjustly attacked," Madara concluded.
