Chapter 337 - Chapter 337 - The Meeting of the All Northern Kings 04.

[Chapter Size: 2100 Words.]

Third Person POV

Loc Muinne.

...

...

Silence prevailed for a moment among all the kings, listening to that declaration.

"Wait... It is already clear that you are the leader of this organization," said the king of Temeria slowly. "But tell me: what if the target is us, the monarchs and our families? We cannot just stand here knowing there is such power among the Northern kingdoms!" he exclaimed.

"We want the names of the people who are part of the organization and also a pact that they must not interfere in the kingdoms!" said the king of Kovir.

Madara looked at both the king of Kovir and the king of Temeria.

'Those bastards... They just want to put shackles on you!' Ciri exclaimed through telepathy, quite angry.

"They are just fools," Madara retorted. There was no other way to put it. They did not even know that, basically, only Madara was part of the organization.

"What you are asking will not be granted," Madara replied out loud, yet at the same time calm, as if that political little game was not worthy of much of his attention.

Most of the kings around did not seem very comfortable with that answer.

"Do you think we will stand still while you have a group of individuals who can destroy the entire stability of the north of the continent? We want to dismantle it!" King Henselt insisted.

"And what are you going to do? Declare war?" Madara asked lightly, looking at each of the three. "Will you try to assassinate us? Well, know this: you have no authority or power over us, and I want to make that very clear here. We are not controlled by any of you. We also do not want to rule you. And you should be satisfied with that. But do not think that you have any power over Cintra, my wife, or even over my companions."

He made a brief pause before continuing.

"What happened with the dragons, I cannot allow to happen to humans or non-humans. Feel threatened, trapped, and afraid because of that or not, it does not matter to me..."

"In the same way that I intervened in Kovir, while the coward king was planning to flee the city leaving his people at the mercy of the dragons, while his soldiers tried to fight before being burned alive, it was I who interfered and saved the capital. You should be satisfied that I simply want to maintain the peace of the kingdoms and not create a war. But that can change if you truly want to push me to it," Madara said in a threatening tone.

"Is that what you want? Then you will have your answer," he concluded, looking at each of the kings.

"You cannot demand something like that!" the voice came from the Redanian podium, when the young Radovid said out loud.

His father looked at him with displeasure, but turned his attention back to the front.

"Keep saying things that I cannot do, and I can prove otherwise. I am not afraid of your crowns, your armies, or your organizations. Those who choose to be my enemies, so be it. I want to make it clear that I will not bow to your will. And anyone who threatens me or those close to me will become my enemy. I am sure you have already heard enough reports of how I deal with them, correct?"

Madara simply finished there. He did not need to make any further threats beyond what he had said. Everyone knew what he was capable of. The dragon attack had only emphasized that.

He could see the fear stamped on the face of the king of Kovir. Even King Henselt seemed cautious.

The queen of Lyria looked at Madara with narrowed eyes. It did not seem like irritation, nor displeasure. The king of Redania merely maintained a calm posture; he seemed thoughtful. The king of Kaedwen shuddered. If he had thought of pressuring Madara to prevent him from becoming a threat, together with the other kings, he was mistaken, because Madara had practically just threatened them all.

"Do you wish to become the enemy of the entire North?" the king of Kovir immediately raised his voice, setting aside his fear and trying to appear more irritated. He was trying to divert attention from the funding of Nilfgaard.

"And I return your question," Madara looked at him with cold eyes, to the point of making him feel fear. "Does the North intend to become my enemy?"

Ciri heard the murmuring at her side and did not fail to lift her chin firmly, displaying a small smile. She liked seeing her husband asserting himself before all the most powerful men on the continent. She imagined her grandmother doing the same thing, but it would never have the same effect that Madara had.

Meanwhile, Tissaia whispered with the sorcerers below, and the crowd that stood on the neutral line began to murmur among themselves, wondering whether they would declare war or not.

Triss frowned as she heard Coral whistle beside her, as if she were enjoying the scene.

Yennefer and Geralt exchanged glances behind Madara and Ciri. They seemed worried.

A thunderous laugh broke the silence when King Bran opened a wide smile.

At his side, his wife was stunned and even cautious, not with the king, but with Madara Uchiha himself. Not even she had expected Madara to be like this. Just thinking that she had tried to insinuate an engagement between Princess Ciri and her unmarried son — for her, it would be quite advantageous for her son to marry a princess of Cintra — which ended up being useless. Ciri simply did not care about her comments. She could have felt offended, but she laughed at that woman, since her and Bran's son had not accomplished even ten percent of what Ciri herself had already done in her life.

Let alone Madara. The man she married — was there another man in this world who could compare to her husband? Obviously not.

Birna, Bran's wife, already seemed to realize the mistake she had made. In truth, she had realized it before, after hearing what he had done on the island, especially what she herself had seen, after all it was hard to forget the boy summoning a giant dragon, or killing monsters that invaded the castle.

And now, that only became even clearer. The boy she had tried to undermine was simply asserting himself before all the kings of the North, to the point of provoking a possible war, yet without bowing his head.

She had been blind thinking about the future... How could she place her son in power afterward? After all, Skellige was not a traditional monarchy, with the crown automatically passing to the son. The king of the isles was chosen as the most worthy, just as Bran himself had been chosen to become king by the leaders.

While Birna continued worried, biting her nail, Mousesack was displaying a smile, looking mischievously at the two of them.

'I wish you were seeing what we are seeing here, Calanthe...' He could not help but think of the queen. He could imagine the woman showing a satisfied smile at seeing her granddaughter beside Madara, those two brats, the boy always indifferent and the girl always mischievous, walking through the castle of Cintra, now here, holding her face high before all those forces of the North.

It was not only Calanthe who could feel that way, even Mousesack, who had been present during the childhood of those two, could not be more satisfied seeing what they had become, now adults and closer than ever.

'Cintra will have a future of construction, but it will also reach a power never seen before.' He thought.

King Bran continued laughing. "Spoken like a true man!" he said, facing Madara and openly praising him. "But do not worry. You pacified many of the islands of Skellige, and the people trust you. I see no reason to oppose this organization you created. Skellige has always been an ally of Cintra, and it will remain so. So, we stand with Madara."

At the same time, a voice came from the other side of Cintra's podium.

"Madara is someone I consider a friend. We met in the middle of the battlefield, when we were enemies. He came to me when he could have killed me, but he did not. Instead, he sought answers. Answers for the chaos my father had created at the time, for the injustices that were being committed in my kingdom. My wife's sister, who had been my first fiancée, was murdered because of my father's ambitions. Madara investigated and uncovered the truth. He went to my kingdom and helped me carry out justice. I saw it with my own eyes." Thorne took a deep breath before continuing.

"That is why he chooses to be ruthless against enemies, but he is fair to strangers and loyal to friends. Let us be honest, Kings and Queens: he could simply crush us all, but he does not. That is why Sodden also trusts Madara, and will not stand against him."

That seemed to shake some of the kings who were trying to pressure him.

"Well, this organization was created some time ago. Lyria and Rivia have never had any problems with it. In fact, we were helped when a dragon attacked. I see no reason to become the enemy of someone who has done us no harm. But know that, if this organization commits any unjust crime in my kingdom, I will do everything to destroy it," Meve said, unshaken under Madara's gaze.

"How can you leave the North at the mercy of such a force?" the king of Kovir spoke again. He looked at the king of Kaedwen. "Could you not say how dangerous they are? You had the kingdom most affected by him. Your knights and warriors were killed, were they not?" he asked, and the king seemed a little nervous.

"They were rebels," the king of Kaedwen suddenly said. "Those men rebelled against me. The organization merely put an end to it. I do not have much to complain about."

Obviously, if he had told any lie, not only would Madara have countered him with the truth — that he had given the order to massacre non-humans in a unilateral attack — but he would also have become a direct enemy of Madara. And certainly that was not advantageous for any of them.

The king himself knew he could be killed easily if Madara wished. It did not matter how many knights he had in court, how many mages were in his service. Madara would still pass through them all and could remove him from the castle without anyone noticing, beat him, and bring him back — as he had already done — showing him the memories returning from that night when he tried to carry out violence because of his prejudice against non-humans.

His life was worth more than his petty prejudice. He was a king, he lived in luxury and power, why would he renounce that out of Ego and lose his life, slaughtered like an animal?

That left the king of Kovir speechless. He had not expected things to unfold that way. He looked around, but no king or queen seemed willing to advocate in his favor.

Even Henselt and the king of Redania were not very inclined to stand against the organization now. Certainly, they would have to think better or even act in the shadows, but openly, they were not willing to oppose Madara Uchiha, the monster among them who possessed too much power.

As absurd as it was for an organization to exist with the power to kill them, none of them wanted to confront him there.

Madara observed the king's silence and did not fail to mock him internally. He even made some comments telepathically to Ciri. She certainly knew the truth, but did not say anything openly — there was no reason for it.

"I believe that regarding the organization called Akatsuki, we will not have any decision about it..." Tissaia spoke again, breaking the tense silence among the kings, the other smaller kingdoms were all silent, what else could they do?

Obviously, everyone was worried, but incapable of negotiating there.

"We want to speak about the dragons now... I want to know why the dragons attacked the North?" the king of Redania asked.

"Of course, I know the reason, and it has to do with a creature that all of you see only as a myth... A demon." Madara began.
