A portal quietly appeared in an inconspicuous corner of New York Harbor. After Gwen stepped out, the portal dissolved into golden motes of light and vanished.
After getting her bearings, Gwen hesitated for a few seconds before walking toward where their RV was parked.
She didn't know if her friends had left or if they were still there, but she had asked Mike to open the portal to this location regardless.
Having calmed down, she realized she had made a very serious mistake.
She needed to find her friends and apologize.
Minutes later, Gwen spotted the familiar RV.
"Phew!"
She couldn't help but let out a long breath, her suspended heart finally settling down. However, as she got closer to the RV, her steps involuntarily slowed, and she began to hesitate.
What if they were angry?
Gwen scratched her hair in distress, but unconsciously, she continued to draw closer to the vehicle.
Just as she was debating whether to knock, the door suddenly opened.
"Mary!"
A flash of joy passed through Gwen's eyes, and she called out happily.
Mary Jane responded with a poker face, "Come in."
Seeing the other's expression, Gwen's heart drummed nervously. She squeezed out an ingratiating smile and boarded the RV.
Then, she was met with four cold faces.
Looking at the four of them, Gwen fell silent for a moment before suddenly asking, "Are you guys thirsty? Are you hungry?"
"Not thirsty!"
"Not hungry!"
"Too much trouble!"
"I have things to do!"
Gwen: "..."
Facing their cold gazes, Gwen kept her fawning smile.
Seeing that the four remained unmoved, she rubbed her own face and muttered, "So ruthless. My face is going numb from smiling."
The four of them: ಠ_ಠ
In the next second, Gwen said earnestly, "Sorry. I was wrong this time."
The four exchanged glances. A hint of a smile flashed in their eyes, and they quietly breathed a sigh of relief.
Good, Gwen admitted her mistake.
When they initially discussed acting this way, they were afraid it might upset Gwen. But it seemed Gwen was still the same Gwen they knew.
"Ahem!"
Luke clenched his fist and coughed lightly on purpose. "Tell us, where exactly were you wrong?"
"I was wrong to act on my own without explaining the situation to you. I forgot that we are a team."
Gwen's face was full of sincerity, looking truly repentant.
The expressions on the four friends finally softened.
Peter was the first to smile, saying to Gwen, "Do you have any idea how... how worried we were when we heard you say those things?"
Mary Jane nodded, giving Gwen a reproachful look.
Harry chuckled and said, "I told you she's amazing and wouldn't get hurt. They were just—"
"Harry!"
Peter and the other two glared at Harry, who hurriedly shut his mouth.
They had agreed to stand united, but this guy was praising Gwen right now?
Did he want Gwen to do the same thing next time?
"My mistake!"
Seeing the three still glaring at him, Harry raised both hands in surrender.
"Gwen!" Luke suddenly said, "If we encounter anything during a mission in the future, you must tell us. Although our strength is weak, we are a team. We should shoulder things together, and we will help as much as possible."
Mary Jane pursed her lips. "Gwen, that feeling really sucked. I felt like we were dispensable."
"I'm sorry, I'm really sorry," Gwen said in a low voice.
She was the one who proposed forming a team in the first place, yet she was also the one who cast the team aside. Such behavior was inexcusable no matter how you looked at it.
"Alright, that's the end of it. Let's go celebrate," Harry suggested.
"Agreed!" Luke was the first to cheer.
Peter and Mary Jane also smiled and nodded.
"No, we're not going," Gwen said suddenly.
The four froze, a trace of panic flashing in their eyes.
Could it be that Gwen was actually angry?
"Heh!"
Gwen sneered. "You're treating? What good food could we possibly get?"
Harry was stunned, and Peter and the others were a bit at a loss.
Looking at Gwen now, was she really upset?
Just as the four felt helpless, and even a hint of grievance began to rise in their hearts, Gwen suddenly broke into a brilliant smile. "Of course, I will treat you. I was the one who made the mistake, after all. Besides, my dad is entertaining guests at home today. I'll ask him to make some extra portions, and we can bring them back to the RV to eat."
Food made by Uncle Mike?
Mike Kent?
The four were shocked, and then immediately cheered.
Mike's House.
At this moment, Odin and the Ancient One were sitting in Mike's backyard, chatting idly.
The two watched Mike and Raven bustling about, a look of envy in their eyes.
They both wished for this kind of leisurely life, but one was the King of Asgard and the other was the Sorcerer Supreme. Burdened with heavy responsibilities, it was impossible for them to be this relaxed.
Just then, the Ancient One said faintly, "Fortunately, according to my plan, I will soon be able to put down the burden of Sorcerer Supreme and live my leisurely life."
"Put down the burden?" Odin asked in confusion. "Didn't you say you were going to die?"
The Ancient One's eye twitched. "So what?"
"Ha, haha, is that so?"
Odin gave a dry laugh, but his mind began to race. He even wondered if he should fake his death or something similar to dump the burden of Asgard onto Thor or someone else.
Just then, Little Lamb walked toward them carrying two glasses of juice.
"Grandpa, Sister, have some juice!"
Little Lamb smiled. The two glasses of juice on the tray were perfectly steady; they didn't even ripple.
This was an ability he had awakened at some point, called "Absolutely Will Not Spill Liquid."
The ability was practically useless for combat, but amazing for serving drinks.
When he awakened this ability, Mike had laughed himself silly, even joking that it was the perfect skill for a waiter.
"Thank you."
The Ancient One took the drink with a smile and casually cast a blessing on Little Lamb.
Odin, on the other hand, stared wide-eyed, blowing into his beard as he questioned, "Little guy, why do you call her Sister but call me Grandpa?"
Little Lamb blinked, pointing at Odin's beard. "You have so much beard! Of course you're a grandpa, just like Santa Claus."
Odin said loudly, "Do you know that this 'Sister' you're talking to is already several hundred years old? She's old enough to be your father's grandmother!"
Boom!
A bolt of magical energy suddenly appeared above Odin's head and exploded. While blasting Odin's white hair into an afro, colorful fireworks bloomed continuously.
Odin was dazed, while Little Lamb laughed happily.
"Was that necessary?" Odin looked at the Ancient One speechlessly.
The Ancient One nodded. "Of course it was necessary. You are teaching the child bad things."
As she spoke, she smiled at Little Lamb.
Little Lamb immediately understood the Ancient One's meaning and sweetly called out "Sister" again.
The Ancient One's eyes curved into crescents. She fanned herself a few times with her small fan and cast several more blessings on Little Lamb.
Odin's eyes widened. "Is that necessary?"
"I like this child."
The Ancient One snapped her fan shut and said to Little Lamb, "Little guy, are you interested in becoming the Sorcerer Supreme?"
"Huh? Sorcerer Supreme? What's that?"
Little Lamb scratched his head in confusion.
"You can learn a lot of cool magic!"
The Ancient One narrowed her eyes, looking as if a long fox tail was wagging behind her.
Watching this scene, the corner of Odin's mouth twitched wildly.
He could see Little Lamb's terrifying talent, just as the Ancient One could.
But what he hadn't expected was that the Ancient One actually wanted to make Little Lamb the Sorcerer Supreme.
Then should he... pass the throne of Asgard to Little Lamb?
No, that wouldn't work.
Then, make Little Lamb one of their own—have his daughter marry him?
Except for Hela, he didn't have any daughters.
Should he take this opportunity to have another one?
An absurd thought welled up in Odin's heart.
Wait a minute, his daughter Hela seemed to have become lovers with Mike's son, Eric...
In that case, their two families would be in-laws in the future; they would be family.
"Ha!"
Thinking of this, Odin laughed happily. Seeing the Ancient One still trying to bamboozle Little Lamb, he rolled his eyes and shouted to Mike, "Mike! The Ancient One wants your son to be some Sorcerer Supreme!"
"Don't even think about it!"
Mike, who was marinating meat, looked up and shouted.
The Ancient One continued to smile at Little Lamb, but Little Lamb shook his head. "I don't want to be a Sorcerer Supreme. It sounds very troublesome."
The Ancient One patted Little Lamb's head. "If you get interested, tell your dad to call me."
"Oh!"
Little Lamb responded and ran toward the grill.
Hearing this, Mike turned off his super hearing. His hands moved in a blur, and skewers of meat rapidly appeared on the plate beside him.
Just then, a dazzling pillar of energy landed in Mike's backyard.
The Bifrost?
Mike looked up, then glanced at Odin.
Odin, who had been smiling, tightened his expression and looked over with majesty.
In the next second, the Bifrost disappeared, and three figures appeared before them.
Thor, Loki, and...
"Frigga? Why are you here?"
Odin looked at his wife in her long dress and asked in surprise.
Frigga elegantly tucked back her long hair and said to Odin, "That child Thor is always talking about how delicious Mr. Kent's food is. I'm just taking this opportunity to try it!"
Saying this, she walked toward Odin. "You don't blame me for not telling you in advance, do you?"
"I wouldn't!"
Odin took Frigga's hand and introduced her to the Ancient One. "Frigga, my Queen!"
"Ancient One, the Sorcerer Supreme."
Frigga's eyes lit up. "Hello, Mage."
The Ancient One smiled and nodded. "We can exchange knowledge when we have time."
She could feel that Frigga also possessed impressive magical attainments.
Frigga gave a happy smile, pulled Odin's hand, and the two walked toward Mike.
"Mike, Raven. And their son, the lovely Little Lamb."
Odin introduced them to Frigga.
Raven hugged Frigga. "Welcome, Your Majesty."
"Just call me by my name."
Frigga said with a faint smile. With a flash of light in her hand, a blue gem resembling a star appeared.
"A gift for you, beautiful Ms. Raven."
"Thank you!"
Raven responded, accepting it with a smile.
At this moment, Loki's voice suddenly rang out.
"That is the Ocean's Tear. It keeps the wearer free from a single speck of dust and provides a magical barrier to block harm."
"Mom, let me put it on for you."
Little Lamb said happily. With a grasp of his hand, the necklace in Raven's hand vanished. Then, Little Lamb flew behind Raven. After putting it on her, he hurriedly closed his eyes. "Wow, who is this? So beautiful, I can't even open my eyes!"
"Hahaha!"
Watching the little guy's antics, everyone couldn't help but laugh.
"I'll help!"
Thor stood beside Mike, taking over Raven's work, and asked expectantly, "Mike, are we having barbecue today? Are there any secrets you need to teach me?"
Hearing this, Odin rolled his eyes. Just as he was about to scold Thor, he was pulled aside by Frigga.
Raven waved to Little Lamb. "Come, help me prepare the drinks."
"Okay!"
Watching everyone getting busy, Loki looked around and couldn't help asking, "Where's Gwen?"
"She went out for something; she should be back soon."
Mike replied. After letting Thor handle the meat, he said to Thor, "I'm going out for a bit."
The food he bought wasn't enough; he had to buy more.
With that, Mike opened a portal and disappeared.
Shortly after Mike left, Tony, wearing pajamas and sporting dark circles under his eyes, poked his head out from his own yard. He took two photos of Mike's backyard with his phone and sent them to the Avengers group chat.
Tony: Come quick! Party at Mike's house!
Steve: Received!
Natasha: On my way!
Barton: I'm out on a mission...
Rhodey: +1.
Pietro: I'm also on a mission, but I think I can run back.
Wilson: Don't be ridiculous!
Bucky: If you run off, what are Wilson and I supposed to do?
Wanda: Coming immediately!
Bruce: Save some food for me, I'm just finishing this formula.
Natasha: Okay!
Looking at the lively Avengers chat group, Tony snickered and put his phone back in his pocket.
Everyone coming to mooch food together—that was the way to do it!
That was what made it lively!
So, when Mike bought the new ingredients and returned, the corners of his mouth twitched wildly as he looked at the extra Avengers in the yard.
Handing the meat and vegetables to Thor, he opened the portal again.
By the time he came back...
An imperceptible red light flashed in his ice-blue eyes.
Good grief, the X-Men and Nick Fury had arrived too.
"Dad! Buy some more food. It looks like it won't be enough," Charles said to Mike with a smile.
Mike glared fiercely at Charles. "You think you know everything!"
Saying that, amidst Raven's low chuckle, he opened the portal and disappeared again.
This time, he brought back an entire cow.
He remembered that among the character cards he had materialized, there was a method for roasting a whole cow.
Seeing this scene, everyone let out a gasp of amazement.
Mike looked expressionlessly at all these people here to scrounge a free meal, then took out his phone and called Hank Pym.
Since everyone else was here, there was no reason not to invite his future in-law.
A moment later, he opened a portal and brought Hank Pym over.
Instantly, the yard became even livelier.
Just then, an RV stopped at the gate of Mike's house.
Gwen and her friends ran down from the vehicle.
When they saw the bustling scene in the backyard, the four friends stared blankly at Gwen.
"Are you sure this isn't a superhero party?"
