He spoke casually, but every word struck like thunder in the elder's ears.
"This...!"
"…All right, then."
The old Kaiōshin sighed, accepting the situation. He wasn't particularly fond of the idea, especially not of Beerus, the one who had sealed him in the Kaiōshin Sword in the first place. The memory still stung.
But now wasn't the time to hold grudges. Jiang Chen was right.
And truth be told, Beerus had done a decent job as God of Destruction back in the early days. If he hadn't, there wouldn't have been five active Kaiōshin coexisting during that period. Beerus had simply grown lazier as time went on.
"Kaiōshin? Brother, are you saying I can become a Supreme Kai?" Jiang Xi's eyes sparkled, voice trembling with excitement.
Jiang Chen nodded slightly, his expression serious. "Yes. It'll help you master the chaos inside you, especially that destructive energy. Becoming a Kaiōshin will harmonize it."
Jiang Xi's eyes glimmered with understanding.
"Okay, I get it."
She stepped forward without hesitation.
The old Kaiōshin's demeanor changed as well, shifting into the solemnity the situation demanded. This was no small ritual, it was the birth of a new divine being.
The ceremony began immediately.
It resembled the moment when Elder Kai had awakened Son Gohan's dormant power long ago, though this ritual held far greater significance. This was not simply the unlocking of potential, but the sacred initiation of an apprentice Supreme Kai.
Once it was complete, Jiang Xi would officially be acknowledged as an apprentice Kaiōshin.
And with that, the Seventh Universe's spiritual hierarchy would begin its recovery.
"This will take a few days," The old Kaiōshin said, his voice low as he continued the ritual. "But I can already tell, she has incredible latent power. In the meantime, you should start preparing the Super Dragon Balls."
Jiang Chen nodded. "Understood."
He offered his sister a few final instructions, then vanished from the Sacred Kai Realm in a flash of light. Locating the Super Dragon Balls in the Seventh Universe wouldn't be too difficult, especially not for him.
Invoking the divine resonance left behind by Dragon God Zalama, Jiang Chen soon located one of the mythical orbs.
It was an enormous celestial sphere, floating like a dormant planet in the vast starfields of the universe.
Its surface was barren and lifeless, the land cracked and dry. But Jiang Chen could feel the pulse of divine energy beneath it, deep within, the unmistakable presence of a Super Dragon Ball.
Jiang Chen descended onto the barren planet, landing gently with his right foot.
Boom!
A low, resonant thud echoed across the surface. In the next instant, the dry crust of the planet shattered beneath him, revealing a glowing orange sphere embedded within the soil.
"The Two-Star Ball, huh?" He murmured softly to himself, gave it a brief glance, and then vanished once again.
Following the same method, he quickly located the remaining three Super Dragon Balls scattered across the Seventh Universe. Now, only the three from the Sixth Universe remained.
For an ordinary person, crossing the boundaries between universes would be impossible, unless they were a Supreme Kai or a God of Destruction. Such barriers were part of the divine order, enforced by the laws of existence.
But for Jiang Chen, traversing universes was as easy as stepping through mist.
Whoosh!
A ripple of cosmic energy swept outward as Jiang Chen pierced through the veil of space-time. In a blink, he crossed from Universe 7 into Universe 6.
He arrived directly on the God of Destruction's Planet.
"A time-space patroller, is it...? It's been ages since one of them showed up." Vados's calm voice echoed as she watched his arrival, a flicker of curiosity flashing across her face.
"Vados, what're you mumbling about over there?" Champa's grumpy voice rang out behind her.
"Is this egg supposed to be cooked like this?"
"Lord Champa," Vados replied with her usual elegance, "you just need to swallow it whole. It's considered the most exquisite delicacy on this planet."
"Really?" Champa's eyes sparkled. Without hesitation, he opened his mouth and gulped down the massive egg, nearly half his size, in a single bite.
"So? How does it taste?"
"I wasn't lying, Lord Champa. It truly is the finest cuisine here. And packed with plenty of protein too," Vados added with a radiant smile.
"It does taste good!"
Champa's expression twisted for a moment as if uncertain. Still, he quickly nodded in approval, mostly convinced by Vados's confidence.
Was it really delicious?
It kind of was…
But also… maybe not?
"Lord Champa, you should rest now."
"A balanced routine is essential for a God of Destruction's divine performance," Vados said sweetly, steering his thoughts away from the taste.
"Mm-hmm. Got it."
Champa floated over to his massive bed and flopped down. Within seconds, he was snoring loud enough to shake the temple walls.
Watching her Lord sleep, Vados pulled out a large platter of roasted meat.
She helped herself.
"Not bad at all. I wonder if Whis has discovered something tastier on his side." She smiled faintly, then her eyes narrowed slightly as she recalled the flicker of power she had sensed earlier.
"That little one... I should keep an eye on him. The Sixth Universe must remain stable." With a soft murmur, Vados vanished in a stream of prismatic light, her divine aura leaving ripples in the surrounding space.
Unaware that he had attracted the attention of an Angel, Jiang Chen continued his task.
With the divine resonance of Dragon God Zalama guiding him, he quickly located the first and second Super Dragon Balls of Universe 6.
Only one remained.
He had already sensed its presence somewhere deeper in the cosmos.
Whoosh!
Another flash of light as Jiang Chen teleported across the starry void.
But the moment he arrived, a beam of rainbow-hued red light descended directly in front of him.
"Little traveler... barging into another universe to steal its treasures isn't exactly polite, now is it?" Vados's voice was light, but her presence weighed heavily.
Jiang Chen immediately tensed at the sight of the divine figure standing within the light.
It was her, the Angel of Universe 6.
"Greetings, Lord Vados." He took a deep breath, then respectfully lowered his head in a polite bow.
"My, such good manners. And how is your Lady doing these days?" Vados asked, her tone pleasant, though her eyes remained sharp.
"Lady Chronoa is well," Jiang Chen replied calmly.
"Good to hear. Please send my regards to the Supreme Kai of Time next time you return."
Vados gave a soft nod.
"Of course, Lord Vados. I'll be sure to deliver your message," Jiang Chen replied without hesitation, maintaining utmost respect.
"Hehe, no need to be so tense."
"I'm not here to stop you, at least not yet. You must be after the Super Dragon Balls, correct?"
Her tone was lighthearted, but her gaze never left him.
"Yes, Lord Vados," Jiang Chen replied honestly.
"There's been a serious shift in Universe 7. We need the power of the Super Dragon Balls. If you permit it, I'd like to borrow them."
There was no point hiding anything. Not only was Vados impossibly powerful, she was also keenly perceptive. He knew that unless he explained everything clearly, there would be no chance of leaving with the Dragon Balls.
Jiang Chen was powerful, yes, but even with all his strength, he wasn't foolish enough to think he could challenge a God of Destruction, let alone an Angel.
This was not a fight he could win. Diplomacy was his only path forward.
"A serious shift in Universe 7?" Vados paused, raising an eyebrow in curiosity.
"Yes. The Supreme Kai of Universe 7 has fallen. And because of that... Lord Beerus, the God of Destruction, has perished as well." Jiang Chen began to explain the full situation, his tone calm but grave.
